Nope. First was the Bobby interview. Second was the Ralph interview. Then they all got interviewed together on the same show. They were all doing solo projects at the time (BBD, Bobby, JG had already put out their solo projects and Ralph was getting ready to drop his debut solo album).

Most people don't know that New Edition paved the way for the #1, and #2 biggest Hip-Hop/R&B groups of the 90s. Boyz II Men and TLC. Michael Bivins discovered Boyz II Men, he also met Lisa Lopes in a club in Atlanta. It was there that he christened her "Left Eye," because her left eye was more slanted then her right. Also, BBD was the inspiration for TLC. The ladies didn't want to sound like every other female R&B group in tight clothes, singing break up ballads. So they took their inspiration for BBD, the New Jack Swing sound, their image, TLC just made it brighter, baggier, and put condoms on it. Also to this day, TLC will always say BBD was, is their biggest inspiration. NEW EDITION is the foundation for what became the most successful R&B group of all Time, and The Best Selling Female Group of All Time. NE did that!!!!

Mike's mom told him that Ralph didn't answer the door but she knew he was inside because she heard him playing music. When the music stopped she knocked again and Ralph still didn't answer. Mike said he decided going forward that he and Ralph would be business partners only because he didn't appreciate Ralph not opening the door for his mom. It was on a show called Life After on TV One. It had been on KZbin but I'm not sure if it still is. It was broken into maybe 5 or 6 parts. Not sure if Mike still feels that way today bc it aired maybe 6 years ago.

Ralph didn’t want to discuss the separate careers, he wanted to focus on the “ New “ New Edition they were trying to promote. He was in his feelings LOL but they were all there repping their own individual styles and clearly had huge successes, with the exception of Ralph ( who unfortunately did not have the same solo success) I think he just wanted to get back New Edition business because that was the true catalyst for all the other careers in the first place.

You can see the tension between Mike and Ralph it's sad that it seemed like their brotherhood was broken because of their egos but at the end of the day you can see how much Ralph sacrificed and how much love he had for New Edition even when the others didn't see if Ralph chose that solo shit when the producer asked there would be no BBD or Bobby just saying what if Ralph had chose his offer🤷🏾♀️
@nwilliams58837 жыл бұрын
The all had love, and all sacrifice. We saw the edited version. Reality Rickey sacrificed because he was primarily the lead singer until they recorded the album. Mike never really wanted to be about the group as a profession, it was more than just the one talk from his mom to get him to sign. It was not Ralph's fault or the others fault that he did all the singing. They were all frustrated, but took it out on who they could get away with taking it out on, each other.

If you go back and watch old Bobby Brown solo interviews old Ralph Tresvant solo interviews even some old Johnny Gill solo interviews they don't seem happy they don't seem content but then when you see interviews where you got these brothers together it's like they come alive it's like they see the world like they can accomplish anything they feed off of one another that's why you got to love New Edition collectively you have to love these brothers

Ralph seemingly gave a very unselfish answer as to how and why the guys were doing their own separate thing. BBD was really feeling themselves right here. It was quite surprising how Johnny and Bobby didn't interject. I think Ralph was trying to bring a neutral focus to the interview but them being the age they were and being full on their success BBD were being haughty. I'm glad it all worked out despite attitudes and personalities. #NE4Life

Grandiose Small Things you are absolutely wrong. "Sensitivity" will stay strong for the simple fact this song has its own place now and in the foreseeable future. Every song made by any artist carries its own audience. I'm surprised you don't know that but maybe I shouldn't be suprised according to what you said. I look at it this way if Ralph had taken Maurice offer you wouldn't have a poison to listen too so, the person you need to credit for its success is Ralph. I know it is going to hurt your little heart but, you will be ok. BB success is due to Ralph turning down Maurice solo deal also. Maurice Starr did not want the other 4 he wanted Ralph. What am I saying, "Ralph is the wheel for all their successes?

Can clearly see that Ralph is pretty much heated over the fact that his success paled in comparisons to the other members individual splintered acts. The problem with Ralph's career is the simple fact that he was holding on to an era of R&B that had quickly transformed by the release of his solo project. The other members had come out with their albums earlier in the year and were able to capitalize on their niche groups during a period of R&B and hip hop transformation, leaving Ralph with scraps. Ralph's image was tied to New Edition with it's gentlemanly suave R&B crooner type which was already declining when his first album dropped in the latter half of 1990. By the time Ralph's second album would surface in 94, there would be a diametrical shift in the image that appealed to fans. The population had already shifted from the smooth R&B crooner type to the bad boy, hip hop edgy image. That's why groups like After 7, Boyz II Men and artists like Tevin Campbell were on the decline during this transitional period (although Tevin's decline was mostly in-part due to Usher surfacing in the industry). Nevertheless, timing was against Ralph at every step of his solo career. Had he went Solo prior to Bobby or even dropped his album before other members have, his career may have looked completely different considering he was the one viewed as the second Michael Jackson.
