I actually agree with Ray here. Debra is undermining her husband and the bets/jokes with children toward their father is a terrible standard to be setting. Even Debra's justification is bad, as we know she lied about Ray to her friends.

Debra overpowered Ray throughout the show. If Ray did the same, people would be after the show creators to get it cancelled today. 😂

I see much of my own father in Ray Barone, and that is not a compliment. Believe me when I say that I understand Debra’s coping mechanisms, and that Ray made multiple attempts to overpower and overwhelm Debra.

@@NicoleCzarnecki Does not make it right. Also, what Debra does to Raymond in several episodes is spousal abuse. Also, have you ever considered Ray's behavior as partial because of how Debra treated him? Raymond has a full-time job, at least is a quasi-good father, who never really had been seen to hit his children (there is an episode where this comes up where Frank mentioned his father hit him and his grandfather hit his father) but Debra is the one always complaining that Ray does not help her enough round the house. Which I understand to some extent but at the same time seems like Debra wants Raymond to not do an equal amount of the work but half of her shared too.

@@ak102986 There is an episode called Net worth where Ray and Debra essentially try to quantify their contributions to the family. To a certain extent, it illustrates a problem with the division of labor in the traditional nuclear family of the 90s and early 2000s. However you feel about housework, Debra quite easily spent more time working than Ray did and as a result, she was going to be tired more, coupled with the fact they had three kids.
@ak102986
@ak102986 2 ай бұрын
@@henrypeters5291 First, I am not saying that Ray should not help around the household or with his children. What I am saying is that Debra seems to want Ray to do more than his equal share, so she can do less. Also, without Raymond's job, there is no house. Now, you are right about the division of labor, but that is misleading since I would argue if Raymond was a stay-at-home dad, this would not be an issue regarding who does the housework. Second, in that episode, it was Robert who sided with Debra, but Robert is biased against his brother and biased for Debra. Would someone else come to the same conclusion? Maybe? Probably? But the point is that Robert’s opinion needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Also, in that episode, Debra gets mad at Ray for spending money without discussing with (or for asking) her first, which he should not have done, but he does not need her permission to spend their money and in other episodes, Debra spends money without speaking or discussing with Raymond first. So, there is that double standard. Debra does the same thing, similar to Jill from Home Improvement, her husband’s money is their money, but her money is her money. I know real women like this, who treated their husbands like children and viewed them as ATMs. This is no better than men who mistreated their wives. So, yeah Ray does not respect Debra, but Debra does not respect Raymond. Now, I think housework and raising the children are more important than working a regular job, to the point I favor paying the spouse (one parent) for staying at home. How it would work, is it would take both parent's salaries and equal them. So, if the wife makes 60K and the husband makes 40K, then the husband at home he would get 20K, or if the wife was at home, and only the husband works, then she would get the salary of her husband. So, Debra would receive Raymond’s salary since she is a stay-at-home-mother. I called it the Housewives Act or Spouse Act. Regardless, Debra’s behavior is toxic in some episodes, but the same as Ray but unlike Ray, nobody ever called her out for it and she has committed spousal abuse at least once that I can remember the PMS episode. Basically, Debra is playing the victim, the oppressed housewife. What does Debra do all day while the kids are at school? I understand there would be day and error, but all day, every day. There is also an episode where Raymond takes the kids to the park, where the other housewife comments that Debra gets to take a nap and another one where Debra wants the day to herself, and she is watching TV when Ray’s spying on her. Where is the equal time for Raymond? When he goes to play golf, which is normally always a struggle. What Ray wants is a wife, similar to his mother's era because that what he grew up knowing, but Debra seems to want is an equal partnership that is actually 60-80 in her favor. We see this a lot in series, starting in the 90s, where the housewives are oppressed, and the husband is a fool. Now, this is no better than the previous era where the wife was portrayed negatively and the husband perfectly. There is an example of the Big Bang Theory, where Penny throws away her husband, Leonard’s stuff simply because she does not like his belongs, without f-telling him and he confronts her, she dismisses the behavior and him, like a child. Oh, yeah that is a good relationship.

Lol, Marie has a problem with Deborah betting the kids that daddy will do something goofy, while she rated her husband's anger with her kids at bedtime every night.

If Debra was my wife I would notice anything having to do with her hair. Of course the reason is because I’m a hairstylist and I would be the one who styled her hair like I style my wife’s hair and women’s hair. I also style men’s hair

Turning your kids against their father is child abuse. Screw you Debra. If you've got an issue with your husband, don't try to weaponize your kids. This is probably the worst thing she's ever done
