I think giving up her immortal life also meant living until the Black Tezcatlipoca is safely contained, meaning she's trapped in unending torment as a walking dead. At least, I think that, based on the fact that a magical bow shot a hole directly through her heart and she was completely affected beyond bleeding slightly.
@veggiedragon10005 жыл бұрын
Alpha Numeric Key I mean I think it was through her shoulder and she's just really stoic. In the episode she talks about a ticking clock of a mortal lifespan, and that the black tez took her immortal life as a spirit. She's completely human now, and ageing. You can see she has grey hairs. That means she will die, when she would not have before. To the Black Tezcatlipoka, and the other spirits who have been talking about her trading her life, such as Icky, that *is* killing her, just slowly.

Can we all stop to admire Kitty? She’s, the first good example of a proper lady I’ve seen in a while. Mature, poised, wise, clever, gentle, and firm as needed. She’s not a fighter like Calamity, but she’s no less strong for it. It’s her very ladylike nature which just saved everyone from the red tescotlipoka (I probably misspelled that and I’m sorry) It’s just really nice to me to see the strengths of a lady being, not only acknowledged, but used brilliantly.
@cartooncrazy98834 жыл бұрын

Interesting. The Red chose a new wielder. Fitting that Kitty, the most level headed of all the spirits would have the patience to wisely guide the destructive hand of Judgement. Not to mention the maturity to accept responsibility for vast, unstoppable power. It does make me wonder though: what makes Charles worthy of the Black Ick? It doesn't speak, but from the process of elimination it is a power named Peace. It can't just be because he wants to stop the feud.
@problempopsicle54305 жыл бұрын
Taso Canido yknow I thought the black ick just took anyone as a holder but then I saw that you mentioned that its a power named “peace” which makes sense, your at peace the most when your asleep but I think it chose Charles bc of the reasons it was made. The black ick was made from the two first spirits insecurities and from the ideals they both had a conflict with; the best way to retain peace. One thought “only *I* can maintain peace.” While the other thought “we can never maintain peace.” I think Charles is the wielder is most definitely because he wants to stop the feud. He thinks that only *he* can maintain peace because he also knows *they* i.e humans can never maintain peace. Hes seen humanity at its worst and knows how violent and cruel we can be. He probably wants to stop the feud from ever happening again. Hes only ever attacked people who were fighting with each other or those trying to stop him.

I just wanted to say the animation on this episode was really well done, especially the scenes where Amaroq throws Kajortoq and when Kajortoq speaks with the Red Tezcatlipoca. With the throw, the way you spun the field of view in sync with the throw, including the pause in the middle, gave the perfect impression of the inertia of Kajortoq and the power of Amaroq; I could actually feel the mechanics of the throw while watching it. In fact, I even watched it in slow motion just to appreciate why that scene worked so well. Using the rotation to also reveal Charles coming up the stairs was just icing on the cake. Very well done! Also, the change to a more abstract art style when Kajortoq speaks with the Red Tezcatlipoca was such a good counter-point to the standard art style. It was very immersive and gave the strong impression that it was not a place for mere mortals, a place of power and tension beyond comprehension, like the universe itself was at a critical junction. This really served well to give an artistic climax to the weight of Kajortoq's decision, and reminds us that despite superficial appearances, the main characters are truly powerful beings when the need arises. I should also point out that I am in no way an artist myself, and therefore I am in no position to give professional feedback, but rather caught myself wanting to see each frame in slow motion to see why these scenes were so immersive and worked so well. As such, I felt it was only fair to offer the thanks and praise you more than deserve for clearly giving a lot of time and attention in animating this series, on top of the already amazing story telling. Also, thank you for sharing this so freely with the rest of us. P.S. The music and audio editing were also top notch, and really took the episode to that next level. I especially liked the way that there was an absence of counter-point during the bow test, but then that drum beat at the moment of realization and escalation of tension with the throw, and carrying the musical counter-point all the way through to the resolution, and using different themes for both the inside and outside of the temple, further made the inside of the temple feel other-worldly, and sustained the tension through the entire sequence. P.P.S. You have convinced me to finally become a Patron of a KZbin channel.

(Almost) every musical cue: 0:00 C maj to C# maj7 chord movement, very unusual, telling us that this won’t be a normal episode (but then again, when is it ever a normal episode?) EDIT: Half a year later, I just realized this exact song plays on the episode prior to this one, where the sherif and amaroq are talking 0:13 very primal sound drums during the fight scene, which really adds some energy. 1:12 Very mysterious violin noise, highlighting Kitty and Calamity’s shock. 1:29 calamity snaps at amaroq, and the fight drums come back in for a short moment, emphasizing calamity’s hostility. 1:37 as Kitty starts talking about Tonaltzintli, the music is much more calm and peaceful in contrast to the fighting drums. 2:16 A very grand chord progression, with a flute playing the melody. Perfect introduction for the giant, Aztec-inspired city of Tonaltzintli. 2:30 this synth noise is kind of comical 3:20 The drums come back in again, with Calamity acting hostile yet again. 3:49 The drums slowly build up as they go up the stairs, anticipating the reveal of murder. 3:56 drum gets extremely loud, making Murder’s reveal even more impactful. 4:01 The kalimba gives this really archaic feel. 4:15 While murder talks about the “ticking clock” there are calves playing, which sounds a lot like a clock ticking. 4:31 High pitched violin noise, expressing Murder’s anger 5:27 Very subtle strings play along with Charles turning away, building the tension towards his reveal. 5:52 The soundtrack is almost entirely acoustic instruments, so this adorable little synth sound effect makes the weird old man stand out even more. 6:04 I can’t describe this sound. Again, building the tension before Charles’s appearance. 6:11 a synth bass sound, much more evil sounding than the old man one 6:13 This laugh is so devilishly evil, it’s incredible. (Not a musical cue, but it was worth mentioning) 6:15 Those sinister strings that were just barely audible when we saw Charles’s shoes, we now hear the strings much clearer. 6:30 remember the claves? They’re playing fast triplets. It’s the musical equivalent of somebody screaming “Hurry! Time is running out!” 6:37 Another dissonant, evil sounding synth noise that plays as the “redness” is spreading 6:50 The synth noise fades back in when the redness come back into view. 7:17 Huey’s eyeball makes a very cartoon-like slip noise (it’s not a very serious noise, even though it’s during a tense scene, which is SO in character with Huey) 7:30 A very unsettling noise. It sounds a lot like a never-ending scream. 7:40 Intense piano playing on the low-end, followed by some very mictlan-esqe strings 8:15 The synths fade out, now that the “redness” is gone. 8:44 His breathing sounds almost robotic, which makes sense because he is covered in the black ick.

Thanks for taking the time to share your analysis of the audio accompaniments in this episode. I don't have an ear for picking out music because I'm often preoccupied with how some other aspect of the storytelling contributed to the scene. Dude almost 4 years later I think this is still my favorite episode of No Evil ever. I’m sure it’ll soon be beaten with future episodes, but I find myself thinking of the fight between Amaroq and Calamity and the music that comes with it ALL the time. Augh it’s so good

Is it just me or does Kitty sound different after... whatever the hell just happend. That she is apparently able to use the Red tez (which can apparetnly ALSO go haywire like the black?!?) Something tells me something important's changed about her, (in addition to her new color scheme) things definitely wont be the same from here on out... Also real interesting to see that it was only her SPIRIT life that Murder traded. Good storytelling twist to only reveal that now! All we knew about how she "traded her life" was TECHNICALLY true, but incomplete. Now we have a bit more of the full story! And about a hundred NEW questions though... EDIT: FYI, you can read clearly what the Red is saying if you put on closed captions.

If you also noticed the reason the black doesn’t like water is because that’s how the red mainly spreads if you noticed;)
@megaman1615 жыл бұрын
This isn't the first time we've seen the Red go wild, either. Betsy did a prequel comic, "No Evil: Judgement" which goes into how Murder got the Red in the first place. The comic also shows that the Red has no effect on the Black. If it did, they wouldn't have to resort to sealing it in the first place.
@sarrakitty5 жыл бұрын
@@megaman161 I was aware that there was a prequel comic, but I just haven't read it yet. Isn't the Blue supposed to be able to have some effect on the Black? It was mentioned earlier in the series. It's the only one we haven't seen yet. "in person" yet
@megaman1615 жыл бұрын
@@sarrakitty The Blue "Liberation Machete" holds power over magic, and embodies Willpower. Spirits that try to wield it are repelled by the force of their own natural magic clashing with it's own, and humans don't have the ability to resist it's overpowering will. I'm sorry, this is a little random and I've lost count of how many times I've watched this series, but if I hadn't said so before: Thank you for the content warnings, and for sharing such amazing art and stories with us. You and the rest of the cast bring various mythologies and new tales to such life it's astonishing, and you're considerate enough to think to warn some folk (like myself) that are particularly squeamish. I don't see that very often, to be honest, so again - thanks a million for sharing such wonderful work!

It's so impressive that you created this series over 7 years ago and are still adding to it. It's very apparent that this is a project born and continued out of passion for the art itself and the story told. I personally enjoy every aspect of no evil so thank you so much for creating this

Okay first off I love your episodes more and more Second, Murders voice I can understand if its not entirely fitting for them in the comics context but for here and now its not half bad. She sounds serious but also tired, soft and determined. I also was scared after all the pauses during the last bits in the episodes bc I was like ..this is the perfect time for a cliffhanger but was pleasantly surprised so thanks

Hi, I just found out about this series today, only a few hours ago, and I have to say this is amazing. The artwork is simplistic yet still so beautiful. The characters arent over sexualized like many anthropomorphic animals tend to be. It has such a great story, with a surprisingly rich and fascinating lore. I honestly cant wait for the next episode to come out, I'm sure it will be just as amazing as all the other episodes.

@TheBottegaChannel5 жыл бұрын
@@philtrubey7480 , agreed, for both points ( the dad joke puns and the half joking shipping of Wolf dad and Fox Mom). Points aside though, in the legends Kitty and Amaroq are in, they display quite the appropriate ammount of vitriolic animosity ( which is directly in some ways, displayed in the series) towards each other that actually is warranted in many regards. I'd bet dollars to fry bread though that Amaroq ends up begrudgingly having to use the blue Tezcatlepoca in order to save Cha... * goes blank faced* So "Lone Wolf" can help save " Cub". XD

Very minor issue, at 6:27 Kitty is gripping the Red with her fingers on the top side, when the kid tries to pick it up her fingers are gripping the bottom side even though she seemed to keep a constant grip on it, implying that she has eight fingers on one hand and no thumb. But seriously this is great, the throwing scene especially in how it showed everything changing in a single beautifully depicted moment of immediate action.

God, coming in to hear that "you're gonna need a bit more help" right after the Amaroq backstory, and seeing him flinch like that, even the pose and position - it's right back to the "you have to do things for us" conditions that led to his sorrow at McCoy. As the audience we know Bass likely meant *Amaroq* needed help, but it's so close to how McCoy "greeted" him that he can't help but make the connection. You can even see the fear on his face. I just realized the black marks Amaroq has on his face and ears end up matching Charles - he has the lips already at the start of Broken Hand, so it's possible Charles is imitating him. Or that's just a default of the curse marks, but it is neat that it makes them look more alike. Few things seem accidental in this show. Seriously shocked Murder is just... around! I thought she disappeared forever lmao
