I'm soooo happy to see him again and know he's alive. 🙌🏻 One of my bettas always jumps like Milky and went between the slots in the tank and the lid because it was "parallel" to the slot. Fortunately, I was in front of the aquarium at that time. Since then, I have put some tape to close the spacing. Since his aquarium move, do you think he's a little bored? Each betta has its own personality and I have one who has been very bored since I relocated his aquarium. So I go to see him often in a day. Thanks Alexandera for birthday wishes. I am familiar with Quebec because I visited the city on few occasions. Probably you should make your aquarium more interesting to your Betta. The more caves, plants and small nooks and crannies the better. Bettas are inquisitive little creatures and love to explore. Regarding hydras its true what you said about temperature but I would have to raise temperature above 40C and that would cook the plants. Few hydras are OK and I consider them just a part of underwater ecosystem. They are only dangerous for fish fry and small shrimps.

Can you give me a basic rundown on the walstad method, I've been having a doozy running 8 aquariums all with different filtration setups and would love to know more about how to reduce my confusion, how often do you do water changes, and is not overfeeding super important for the success of the walstad method, do you just need super heavy planting to pull off no filter???

In short; it is a closed ecosystem of soil capped with sand. A lot of plants are needed with some overfeeding to provide nutrients to the plants and medium stocking is required. Also you need long light period of up to 12 hours. To fully understand it I recommend reading book 'Ecology of the Planted Aquarium'.

Everything is possible but keep in mind that Cryptocoryne are slow growing plants and they will need some time before they get established. I would suggest Crypts with one more fast growing plant.

Word of advice: if you float the betta pellets in water for 10 seconds before feeding your betta, it will be less likely to get stomach bloating!

How do you clean the pool? too many small trees, so I think it's very difficult for you to suck fish droppings, dead leaves. How often do you change the water?

It is Walstad tank and I never clean the bottom (gravel vacuum). The main idea of Walstad method is that the fish waste and dead plant matter provide nutrients to the plants. I change 25% of the water weekly.

Its called weed for a reason. It cam grow horizontally and vertically. Its all over the place.

You can contain it in a pot but...you need to trim it weekly otherwise it will get out of control.

I never tried it. I have aquariums that I do water change less often; let's say once a month or once every two months but that aquarium is very lightly stocked and has a huge amount of plant life.

Pearling shows that your plants are producing more oxygen than usual. This aquarium usually has pearling plants.
