I am always amazed as I watch her give every ounce of energy that she has in this show. And then, as if that is not enough, she does a head stand at the very end, to make sure that she has nothing left in her tank. Thanks, Bette, for years of pleasure.

I'm going to see this remarkable creature live at The O2 Arena in London's Docklands on 19th July. This is the realisation of a 35 year long dream. I first saw Bette live when I caught a televised showing of The Divine Miss M way back in 1981. I was twelve. I fell in love. She spoke to whatever it was in myself that I knew was different from my friends at school. Over the years, her insightful and sincere emotional performances have been a constant. She's helped me express feelings of both joy and pain as I've passed through the thresholds of life experience. - Bette; if you ever get to read this, you are a irrepressible force of nature. You have had a significant impact upon my life and world view. This world has truly been richer for your presence. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU IN THE FLESH!!!!

I went to 2 of the 3 nights tapings. She first came out too fast, was in the middle of the song then grabbed her head & ran back stage, She was really sick with bronchitis but had tomake the film, came out & appologized & started over. WE WERE SCREAMING OUR HEADS OFF FOR HER!!!

I don't know how she can jump up and down like that and keep her voice from going out of control. This woman never ceases to amaze me.

I loved the Divine Madness tour and era. This was really the last time that she was truly the Divine Miss M that she was at the beginning of her career. After this she became so commercial and "Disney-ized". Even though she was deathly ill she rocks this song.

On this day in 1980 {September 13th} the Bette Midler concert movie "Divine Madness" had its world premier at the Toronto Film Festival... Thirteen days later on September 23rd it went into limited release in the U.S.A. She received a Golden Globe nomination for 'Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy'. A song featured in the movie, "My Mother's Eyes", was released as a single and on Nov. 22nd, 1980 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #39 & spent 13 weeks on the Top 100.

What can I say other than seeing the D. Miss M at the red rocks way back in 1972 with the "this is my last the on stages so here goes', but the only thing is that she has done this every time that I that saw her and what the F she still is dong it every time like it is the last time she will be on stage. Love the lady so much with what she has daid and done for us.

@burffle You and me both! I was in the audience for Divine Madness at the Pasadena Auditorium. You're right, I remeber how sick she was, but she gave it her all! AND when she was filiming concert scenes for The Rose at the Wiltern Theatre in L.A. We all had to wear 'hippie' attire. I was given a camera with flash bulbs and instructed to pretend to take pictures of the Rose during her concert. Another great day with the Divine!

This song was written by the one and only Harry Nilsson. I wish she had delved more into his catalog, she does such a great job interpreting his music.
