I have had my ears pierced when I was a kid and had so many problems with them. Now I'm 26 and still wanting my dream of wearing cute dangly earrings, so figured now I'm an adult I won't have problems, and got them pierced again. Just as bad this time around, gold, silver, surgical steel, cleaning every day or once a week, so much discomfort and pain, I think my ears are just too sensitive! After almost a year I have taken them out to close up, and so happy to have found your video, I never knew this was a thing but I can now have my dream of fun earrings with no pain! :D thank you!

Good info concerning clip-ons. Never thought of making a loop from a stud earring post-clever idea. Thanks, Allie, for sharing with us.

Tysm for sharing this is really useful information. I love the idea of taking a post and making a loop that gives me so many ideas for jewelry making. I will be using these tips. Thanks for the better beader series.

Def gonna try this!!! I’ve had my ears pierced multiple times and they still get infected even tho I haven’t had earrings in in YEARS. I’m allergic to legit every type of metal 😭😭 thank you for this video!!!
@beverlysueburk3673 Жыл бұрын
Perhaps the reason your ears get infected or you have an allergy, it is usually related to the Nickel in the metal. You can buygold, gold filled, stainless steel or sterling silver that will be non-allergic. I have a nickel allergy.

I’ve worn clip earrings for years. Padding doesn’t really improve the comfort of the clip. It is much better to slightly adjust the clip, either the hinge or the back metal pad.
@patriciamorgan65455 жыл бұрын
I like to put several coats of nail polish on the clip, both to help protect the ear from rough edges fore and aft, and to protect the clip's finish from tarnishing. If there is excessive flashing from the stamping process that might contact the ear, I file that off first (this is often a big cause of discomfort). Some types of clips can also be manipulated slightly, to adjust the earlobe gap (more open or closed, or a different angle) for comfort. This is how I got started making jewelry: I never got my ears pierced, and thus could never find earrings I could wear. When I realized I could convert commercial (ear wire) dangle earrings to clips, the lightbulb went off. The rest is history!

@@Potomacbeadco Thank YOU for all these wonderful tutorials!!! I've learned so much watching them, I feel like I could tackle most any beadweaving project by now. (PS, I finally made the Dropping Flowers necklace to wear for Easter, and it turned out beautifully! It's been on my 'to do' list for over 3 years.) Another item on my bucket list is a visit to your flagship store, to see all those wonderful beads (and hopefully you!) in person. My local bead store carries a good selection of your exclusives (and I've asked them to bring in more), but it's not the same as seeing EVERYTHING in ALL the colors, with my own eyes. What a treat that will be, when I finally get down to Hagerstown!

1:38 Ugh... I'm new to clip-on earrings, so I searched for videos for how they work and I found this video. Because of this video, I thought all screwbacks are both screwbacks AND hingebacks. I bought a pair of screwbacks and I bent it forward the exact same way you did in the video, and found it odd how it didn't bend comfortably. I realized soon after that it was ONLY a screwback with no hinge, but I realized too late and had already bent it out of shape so I couldn't even refund it...

These videos are informative but I haven't found any that helps to convert hoop pierced that have that post that once it's in the ear it has the little catch to the side of the earring. How can convert THAT into a clip on?

I've never worn any type of earring before. My daughter wants to get her ears peirced but I told her before she does that, she should try clip on earrings. I am finding with many of the hinged back earrings, once you open them, they don't seem to close enough to stay on the ear. I bought a little kit that came with 26 hinged backs and of the 26 only about 15 of the backs actually close like they are supposed to. Is there a way to alter the hinge to make it close more or do I just need to find better backings?
@Potomacbeadco3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching. You could use a small foam pad or pinch the non hinged metal to tighten.

Do you have any videos showing more about using the glue on those types of earrings? I'm afraid that whatever I glue will fall off later--very embarrassing if it's a gift.

I have the hardest time trying to find clip-on findings for my aunt. Since she doesn't have pierced ears I have been searching everywhere for clip-on findings and most places want you to use PayPal.

Hi Verdella, that's because PayPal is worth using, it's very secure and so easy to use. We have clip ons: www.potomacbeads.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=Clip+on&Submit=Search

Just a word of caution to anyone considering making a loop from the post. If they are made of alloy, they may be brittle and will not bend but rather snap off.
