"The kind of lawyer guilty people hire" People don't mention the fact that Jimmy said the line means that what lady Kettleman said to him all the way in season 1 has stuck with him ever since. He always thinks about that line and it's been kind of killing him from inside all this time.

"Jimmy you are always down" This might be my single favourite line in the entire series. It hits me in the gut every time I rewatch the scene, there's just so much emotional weight behind the conversation that encapsulates the entirety of their relationship. Kim absolutely adores Jimmy, and would do anything to take his pain away and end his trauma. But she's only human, and she needs to keep herself safe. "Jimmy you are always down" are words she's probably held close to the chest for a very long time, because she would never want to pull the floor from underneath the man she loves like that. Despite how simple the scene (and indeed the series) reads on paper, the complexity to the characters that's been crafted through the writing/directing/acting leaves us hanging on every word, feeling every moment that Jimmy and Kim feel along with them. Goddamn I truly love this show.

Impressive, very nice. I like to appreciate the delivery of some lines as well. Just the everything that goes into it from the emotions displayed by the actors, directing, soundtrack (or lack thereof) adds onto it. One of my favorites is chuck’s infamous “He defecated through a sunroof!” Haha I’m laughing as I type this. Good shit.

The last thing that Chuck said to Jimmy was that he never really cared that much about him, even though it was clearly not true from the audience perspective. Being an older brother, I know that little brothers do subconsciously emulate what their big brothers do. Jimmy was deeply impacted by those last words, it's no as much hurt as it is more like "okay that's what I need to do then, not care. Live as though I never cared" which includes not even being emotionally distraught by the words or Chucks subsequent death. When Jimmy says he doesn't think about him as an influence he's being honest. He took Chucks final words to him as seriously as he could have and moved on in the same way he thought Chuck did.

As Kim said, the committee KNEW about Chuck and what happened. When that woman asked who jimmy’s biggest influence was, we as the audience were also expecting him to answer Chuck because that was the honest answer. Was Jimmy EVER going to be a lawyer otherwise? Of course not. But he did it for Chuck’s love, respect, attention, etc. Maybe 70/30 Chuck & Kim respectively. But it was mostly Chuck. And they knew he was jimmy’s victim and they probably also knew he died in a fire and to have his brother go through that whole meeting without mentioning a single word about him would’ve rubbed ANYONE the wrong way. No wonder they denied him.
@b.ballooon9225
@b.ballooon9225 2 жыл бұрын
Totally disagree, it is not the Bar Association's job to be lawyer's therapists, this is the problem with everyone being armchair psychologists these days, they feel the need to force people into solutions using their power, like this lady did. She used her Bar power to force an awkward and unrelated extremely tough emotional subject like this up. Furthermore, you can't blame Jimmy directly for Chuck's death, I mean Chuck is "Jimmy's victim", really? Were we watching the same show? A lot of things go into Chuck's situation, to blame one person, you're simplifying something as deep as what Chuck went through and you're simplifying Gilligan's work. Also, no way the bar people would know why Chuck committed suicide, not sure if the public even knew that's what it was, not even Howard knew about the insurance, and nobody assumed it was because of Jimmy as they did not know about the insurance thing, and you can't blame Jimmy for just telling the truth in defense of his license. Lots of reasons why this lady was 100% in the wrong and overstepping her power. Her job is to see if he will be a good/responsible lawyer, not if his extremely complicated relationship with his brother is healthy or not. I sure fear living in a world where our job opportunities are controlled by our opinions, emotions, and way we feel about things, oh wait. Still, this is an extreme and blatant example of people abusing their power for some emotional trip, that lady was 100% unprofessional, thanking the University of American Samoa is 100% a good and sincere enough answer. Maybe she's team Chuck, she hates online school so that's why she didn't let Jimmy in, I mean she didn't like that answer. Non-pretentious non-elitist's normal people, think getting through online college is hard work and honorable, but some people are like Chuck, this lady struck me as such, overly elitist, overly judgmental, and overly controlling over a stranger's emotions. Felt so bad for Jimmy in this episode, felt like everyone was against him, and society definitely was at this point, waiting a year cause he didn't submit to his brother's elitism one last time. This whole situation rubbed me the wrong way, far more than Jimmy's understandable need to stuff all this down. That makes sense, nobody knows the specifics of Jimmy/Chucks thing except Kim maybe, even she doesn't know everything. Point is, it makes total sense Jimmy just wants to repress all the chaos from Chuck, that whole situation was complete tragedy in all directions, no wonder he just wants to delete it. Rubs me the wrong way people don't get that, especially people in positions of power, this is why we need unbiased unemotional people like the other two on that panel instead of overly controlling people like that lady, ridiculous, grinds my gears, sincerity..., the arrogance of that person.

@@b.ballooon9225 I thought that her mentioning Chuck was not to bring up his death, but for Jimmy to reflect on why he was barred in the first place. He is in a sense, up for parole and she wanted to hear him provide SOME kind of remorse for what he did to his brother. Which of course he didn't/couldn't do.
@b.ballooon9225
@b.ballooon9225 2 жыл бұрын
@@dumfriesspearhead7398 My same point of Armchair psychologist stands, it makes her just like the prosecutor of Jimmy's case with Chuck. She didn't know the background, I personally don't think its the court or governments job to force false apologies or remorse out of people. Jimmy felt he was hurt more by Chuck than Chuck by Jimmy, honestly, I agree. Chuck should have apologized to Jimmy, course he couldn't', he was dead, but he should have. I also feel horrible for Chuck, mental health problems are super tough to deal with, but he went above and beyond to try to screw his own brother. There's a reason humanity has codes against that, its fucked up. Who does Chuck think he is, some Ottoman Sultan? (For context, they were famous for being jealous of each other and killing each other for throne, course, lots of dynasties were, Chuck has no justification for looking down on people who graduate from University of American Samoa or any of Jimmy's methods. Like what an elitist, pisses me off, American Samoa is awesome).

As much as i love Breaking Bad ( it's in my top 3 fav tv shows of all time ) and Walter White is by far my fav BB character and probably my second fav tv character of all time just behind Thomas Shellby, Vince Gilligan made a brilliant move when he created the character of Lalo. He made this show exciting. I mean I like BCS and Mike is in this show and Mike is my 2nd fav Breaking Bad character but even he was starting to get a little boring in this show, Lalo was a much needed injection of life that BCS needed. Lalo Salamanca is by far the most interesting, mysterious and unpredictable character in BCS. He is mentioned in season 2 of Breaking Bad by Saul, which means that Saul was/is convinced in BB that Lalo is alive but Gus claimed in season 4 of Breaking Bad that Hector is the last remaining Salamanca still alive... and all Breaking Bad fans have different theories about Lalo and his fate in both BCS and BB. To me Lalo is just awesome. A combination of a typical, ruthless, high ranking Cartel member and a guy who is actually really fucking smart! Tony Dalton killed it with his portrayal of Lalo Salamanca especially in the final 2 episodes of season 5. I know you girls will love season 5 of BCS especially since it's the season that is most similar to BB and by far the best BCS season to date.

Sorry if It's a long read but... I've always been a bit angered/annoyed by the fact that Jimmy is deemed as insincere by the comittee because he doesn't mention Chuck (since they want him to talk about him). Chuck was not only the person that "inspired Jimmy (even though rather passively tbh, had he knew about his plan he would have done anything in his power to prevent J becoming a lawyer) just like he was not only the one that "caused" Jimmy loosing his license for a whole year, he was his brother. He is his brother, a *dead* brother. And talking about deaths: everyone processes a mourning in his own way; when you want to talk about a dead person to a relative you have to respect the people you have in front of you if they don't want to talk about it. No need to be judgemental when you could just show some emphaty and comprehension instead of criticizing a person because he doesn't act as *you* want him to act On top of that they know that this isn't a simple loss. Chuck didn't died of age, peacefully in his bed. They surely don't know the relationship btwn Chuck and Jimmy in details but... - They know that a month before his death he had a mental breakdown in court that showed that he may have suffered from a long neglected mental issue. - They know that his living conditions (the house in which he lived) were pontentially dangerous (thanks to the aforementioned hearing too) - They might have guessed - if they are not that stupid - that the arson that cost him his life had something to do with the mental issue+dangerous living condition combo. A death like Chuck's always leaves a massive sense of guilt on the few loved ones that remains alive. Lots of unanswered questions that these people might constantly keep asking themselves ('What if I had done that instead of this/Why didn't I noticed it before?/Could I have helped him?') and a lot to process, so yeah...Jimmy not mentioning his dead brother less than a year from his tragic death is far from being enough to consider him insincere.

literally the only reason jimmy was suspended was because of his relationship with his brother. That was the only thing the committee was interested in hearing about, and he didnt even acknowledge that his brother existed. it shows a lack of remorse, a lack of having learned anything from that experience, and from their perspective, theres no reason to believe jimmy wont continue breaking rules in the future. youre looking at this from the completely wrong perspective. morality has nothing to do with it. They dont care what inspired jimmy. They just want to know if he can control himself and stop breaking rules. And he gives them absolutely no reason to believe that he will.

Exactly! Let's pretent it's some other person than Jimmy, that doesn't want to speak about this, and because of that he/she has to wait another year.

They're not psychologists, though, so they probably won't analyse survivor's guilt, traumas and stuff... they will probably focus on 'he hasn't processed his grief to a stage we deem healthy: he's not ready yet'. And I agree.

@@chitoge7816 I like Nacho and Gus. I appreciate the character but I just didn't love it because I would always be wanting to get back to the other stories. Kind of like early Walking Dead episodes where they would do entire episodes away from the main group. I appreciated it but I didn't LOVE it. Ya know? Like drinking off brand cola when you want coke? I care. Would you express that in legal terms. Fun stuff. Also, who cares what anyone's name is. This was my stream of thought from your opening. I want to erase it all. But I want to remain. Nothing, or no things, are exactly the same. Sucks to be hector.

Girls annoying me about Werner. Every scene, its all about 'when's he dying? oooooh how will this affect Mike?' - watch the scenes and comment on it later. This is a character-driven series, enjoy the moments in it then speculate afterwards, instead of talking over scenes. At least they'll be happy when he dies next episode so they can wonder about 'poor Mike'.... Oh and no doubt we'll hear them speaking about how Jimmy is conning the committee in the final scenes next episode too - while its playing.

@@One_Eleven111 They weren't this bad when they were doing their Breaking Bad reactions. Perhaps because this isn't so full of action and the scenes are slower and more talky, they feel they have the time to speculate, but man its annoying. Shame as they are one of the better reaction channels here.
