I mean, I love Kim's character as well. But I totally get why she doesn't have that much screen time in E1. Jimmy is the main focus. We need to get to know him first since he is the main character. There is nothing worse than a tv-show that tries to force 10 different characters on me in the first episode without fleshing out any of them. It's annoying and following the plot feels more like work. It's better, at least in the beginning, to focus on one character at a time so the audience can get to know them.

It's difficult for a TV show to introduce several characters, but The Sopranos does it very well. Even the most insignificant side character in that series is brimming with personality, although they tend to be obnoxious and rude because most of the characters are part of the mafia. For as extremely well written The Sopranos is, I do prefer the characters of BB and BCS because they are more empathetic. Even Walt in the first few seasons was empathetic and relatable, whereas Tony Soprano was always violent, racist and screaming all the time.

@DavidALovingMPF1024 жыл бұрын
@@jwansaz_music Well, when I auditioned, I knew the role was for non-verbal acting (easy) but when I got on set, the director came over to us and after introducing Bob to my tv kid and myself, she said,"Ok, you have to come up with 3 lines, we need to hear you argue with Saul". So, she gave me a couple of ideas and I expanded on those. She also told me to shake the kid's shoulder, like I'm mad at him. The lines went something like," This is the 3rd time he's seen this judge!", " He keeps stealing Play Stations from his friends!", and " I had to leave work to come down here and take care of this mess, his mom should get her ass off of the couch and do this!". So, we did the scene about 5 times, I guess.

But not just that in later seasons even explained a lot of open questions people had about the Salamanca family and covered more questions about Gus and Mike. So it wasn’t just a show about Saul but it was more of a show to explain more about why certain things happened in Breaking Bad

Anyone who thinks being an actor doesn't require a strong work ethic, dedication to your craft, and the professionalism to handle the disappointments along the way, the last minute re-write handed to you at the last minute before shooting begins, is in the wrong profession.

It's lovely how this is all steeped in nostalgia, on every level. In-show, Jimmy-Gene pines to return to some kind of normalcy as he reflects on his prior path. 2002 ~ '03 is portrayed as an age of relative innocence before an event that engenders Jimmy's path on a long "bad choice road"... Behind the scenes, 2014 ~ '15, _Breaking Bad_ was concluded and we were already nostalgic for it _and_ the early '00s in general. And now in 2020, I feel nostalgic for when _Breaking Bad_ had concluded and in '15 I was cautiously optimistic and very excited for this prequel called _Better Call Saul..._

Everyone was good here but man Bob Odenkirk was just proving how great he is… I’m in my early-mid 20s and I think a lot of us near my age didn’t realize who he was until BCS. This is a wonderful of example of how amazing he is even without the final cut of editing.

It is a testimony to the quality of the writing that even as essentially a "radio drama" in this format it is still so engaging. It is also interesting to see what was written and what was evidently added when they got to the actual production. A few people in the comments mentioned how Kim straightens up the garbage can after Jimmy kicks it, setting the theme that she cleans up his messes. Evidently that was added. The "process" is always fascinating and these things give us a wonderful glimpse of that.

I just watched this reading side by side with the actual episode. I'm blown away by how little deviance from the original script there was during filming/editing. It's practically word for word and very cool to see how clearly they envisioned the entire episode. I would have thought that from the first reading through final shooting, there might be a LITTLE tweaking here and there. It really doesn't seem like there was. Brilliant... just brilliant. Now I want to rewatch the entire series this way, as well as 'Breaking Bad' if those readings are also available.

What a sick joke! NO Emmy nomination for Rhea Seehorn, Tony Dalton or even Bob and Jonathan for their great performances in season 5. Instead they nominated Giancarlo Esposito, whom I'm sure they saw in the Far Cry 6 trailer and went like: Oh this guy from Breaking Bad is still a badass and he must be brilliant in Better Call Saul too, so let's give him a nomination! Do these people even watch the show they vote for?

they only ever nominate the Breaking Bad alums. Bob, and Jonathan got nominations in previous seasons. It makes me think they haven't even watched BCS. Everyone's great, but Micheal McKean, Rhea Seehorn, and Tony Dalton deserve them the most.
