Thanks sir, great helpful little video! I just bought this off marketplace and as I began researching there’s several videos out there scaring you about the fence, how to upgrade, etc. such a simple fix for no cost. Thank you again!

You are welcome. However as habit I double check my measurements and fence alignment. Goes with measure twice cut once.

Thanks for this. I had this problem, too. We finally were able to adjust the little adjustment screws just right and are now getting good consistency. If we have the problem again, I'll remember this.

Amazing! I saw this tip from the person you are referring to just a couple of days ago. Alas, I, too, cannot remember his channel.

I would like to give the person the credit. Also, a few weeks ago I seen a video where a person installed after market fence guides. Looked interesting. If I could ever find that video again I would like to by the guides and do a video installing them.

I have same issues. Been trying to fix that problem for 3 years now!!!. I’ve done Same as what you do. But still have to nonstop checking my tape and readjust fence

This is the one and only complaint I have about my 4510. Unfortunately just seems to be a design flaw with their fence system. Even with downward pressure, I can see my fence still move. Rather not Band-Aid accuracy so I have been looking at aftermarket fence systems but until then, measure twice or ten times and cut once lol.

I have an older model delta saw and use that technique as well, even though I don’t have an issue with the fence locking in out of square. I find checking the squareness of the fence more accurate using measurements from the front and back of the fence to one of the slots.
@bynumwoodworks82752 жыл бұрын
I like verifying my square with measurements from both the front and back of the blade for critical cuts.

I spent the whole day trying to make my cuts even. I came to the conclusion that the fence was the culprit and entertained the thought of buying an expensive new fence. I will be trying this fix as today. I have the R4513 and think that my saw suffers from the same issue. Thank you very much for this valuable information! I'd be happy if the cuts were improved by 1/32". Fingers crossed!

@@bynumwoodworks8275 As it turns out, if I hold the fence down at the end, where it tens to move right 1/16" every time I love it down, I can maintain an even cut from end to end. But man, that's a lot of additional work. However, you have me a solid work-around! 👍
@bynumwoodworks82753 жыл бұрын
@@gpdoyon I am glad it is working for you. I really don't even think about it anymore. I adjust my fence, place my left hand on top and latch it down.

MAN, I hope this works. I can't find the replacement upgrades for the far end which provides free travel across the saw while ensuring parallel registry against the blade and miter slots.
@bynumwoodworks82753 ай бұрын
For it to work your blade needs to be aligned to the miter slots and your fence aligned. Then taking the slop out really does make a difference. Hope it was helpful for you.
@honkhonklersr.4340 Жыл бұрын
Check the runout of the blade too!!! Some can be off a few mil!
@bynumwoodworks8275 Жыл бұрын
In my case it was accurately aligned with my miter slots. I check those every time I use the casters to move the saw. I had to adjust the trunions times in the past 6 years. I try not to move it much.

I figured this one out on my own a couple of years ago. Had the same problem and saw where the problem was. I still measure to make sure. I love the saw, though. Check out the R4512/R4520 group on Facebook. Check the #itemsforsale list and you'll find a guy named Brian Gidney, who sells a mod for the fence that takes out the slop. I haven't tried it yet myself, but it gets good reviews in that FB group.

This advice is good as far as it goes, however I have noticed that no matter how tightly the screws holding the "T" bracket are torqued down, ANY amount of lateral pressure will knock the fence out of being parallel, as though the screws are lose, even though they are not. So, if you can imagine a situation where you are man-handling a big sheet of plywood or something and it hits against the fence with even a fairly light force -- it will knock it out of alignment. Doesn't matter if the fence is locked down or not. My opinion is that the fence on this saw is crap. You have to check it every time you go to use the saw and treat it with extreme delicacy. That's not acceptable in my opinion.
@bynumwoodworks8275 Жыл бұрын
I have never experienced that after dialing in the fence other than the shift locking down the fence.

There’s a fix for this problem by replacing the plastic pieces on the bottom of the fence both front and back. You can find the parts on Etsy. Just search for Rigid R4512fence fix onEtsy. $32. Rigid should have addressed this issue the moment it became apparent. It’s the #1 complaint about this saw which is otherwise a great saw for the price.
@JoeLazzara2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I assume you have this saw. I was wondering how you're liking it? Is the fence reliable after replacing those pieces that you mentioned? Thanks.

Just add one suggestion. Use a wooden or metal ruler an not a flexible one. Place one on both ends an check your blade. Along with your tip. Bet yah I’m right.
@bynumwoodworks8275 Жыл бұрын
Thanks I actually do this with a thick metal ruler about an 1/8 inch thick so the ruler doesn't go under the fence.
