I'd highly recommend checking out the Magnetic Jades Switches tho! Great sound, the bottom is "closed", giving a bottom out sound that sounds closer to regular switches' bottom out

I'm actually liking that the Hall Effect keyboard space is expanding. I've seen some cool customizations for the Wooting 60HE, but knowing that there are other companies offering comparable software offerings is a good sign for things to come. Gorgeous keyboard - love that Fusion computer generated design look. They're hall effect switches made to conform to the MX footprint, so it's apples and oranges. I'm surprised these bottom out at all. It would be nice to see manufacturers (and enthusiasts) experiment with different materials for different sound effects. I like tactile, so in lieu of a click spring, I'd like to see a beamspring and leafspring instead. No idea how they could be adapted to different actuation depths.

Ah you should've tried the Gateron Magnetic Jade switches, they are HE switches but don't suffer from the same bad bottom out as it's closed on the bottom vs open like the others. Made a massive difference for me when modding my wooting

you should try Gateron Magnetic Jade switches! the bottom out clack are more pronounced and solid, definitely the best hall effect switches i tried so far!

I got the case, with a dz60 pcb, you need to try it as well. I do have a wooting pcb if I want to move in it but prolly not, the case I got for it makes it sound somewhat useable

If you need/want any suggestions for Hall effect keyboard comparisons, I have to suggest the Boog75 (from Meletrix/Wuque Studios). For me, it strikes a great balance between gaming HE boards and custom mech boards. And they also sell it as a module to put in whatever zoom75 case color you might want. Other HE boards that come to mind would be the keychron q1 he, Akko mod 007 HE, Monsgeek M1W HE, Drunkdeer A75. And there are probably more that have come out since the last time I looked into it.

Hey Scott, loved your thoughts on this! You recommended changing the bottom out Sound of the switch to kbdfans. How would you go about this? Maybe a metal insert on the pcb? Perhaps this could work with the hall effect and could produce a sound like the cream+ switches with metal inserts.

I don’t know anything about HE keyboards so please forgive my ignorance. How secure are the HE switches? It looks like they only have 2 pins. Also, is there such thing as north or south facing in this situation? It looks like you could mount the switches in either direction. Looking forward to the comparison of HE keyboards! Any chance you’ll include the QK65v2 classic with the HE PCB??

They were actually very snug so no issues there! You can technically fit it in both directions. But brands will tell you which is best for their board. For example, wooting says north facing

Been using my Wooting Lekker Edition keyboard for a few years now and I still havent found a keyboard that is as enjoyable and functional. I love having analog inputs! I hope more keyboards like these continue to come out in more form factors (75% please!!).

Thanks for the review Scott!! great to see more competition for wooting and to hear the software seems solid! I’m admittedly not competitive enough to care about the feature set, and will say the HE switch sound vs. traditional MX is a real turn off, but who knows what things will look like for HE switches as they grow in popularity?

OptimumTech has done a number of HE keyboard reviews (including covering wooting and some other competitors), and he seems to be pretty in touch with the competitive crowd. Might be worth seeing some of the stuff he’s put out (or collaborating with him, seems like y’all would get along, he’s very technical)!

this is the first hall effect pcb ive seen with multilayout support and most importantly split spacebar. Sadly due to limitations of the design they have a split confiq thats not to my liking, but overall having a split spacebar with hall effect switches is huge!

honest question, where do you need the rapid trigger thing and how is it better then having just a macro for "rapid fire". Also the "sound" of switches is valued way to high, it a property like the case color.

The name doesn’t fully grasp what it allows you to do. Whenever you push the keyboard down it activates and as soon as you let go it deactivates which makes any action with your keyboard much more precise and repeatable. You have to see it to believe it

There's also Looting68, ATK68 and GM87 as other relatively affordable HE keyboards out there. As for HE switches, it should be noted that most manufacturers should choose the same switch design (position of magnet, and polarity of magnet) otherwise there are going to be hidden incompatibilities. For example, the new Outemu HE switches are completely incompatible with any other keyboards that can use Gateron HE switches because their polarity is different. I feel like having the same or similar HE switch (or at least, the magnet position and polarity) will be critical for a growing market right now. Edit: I should also note that I cannot ascertain that using a switch with a different polarity can be fixed software-sided.

You should try the Gateron Jade switches. I put those in my Wooting 60HE (in a Tofu 60 Redux - with weight bar and the PCB has the PC Plate) and mannnnn that makes it sound waayyyyy better. The sound is in the realm of marbly like my custom Zoom TKL with Akko CS Jelly Blacks. Not that good, but in the realm. And that is very impressive for a HE switch.

GATERON MAGNETIC JADE switches are the END GAME for HE based Keebs... sounds just about like a standard switch, perfect. They closed the bottom opening to the HE switch, making the feel and sound more solid

It still has the hollow spring rattle sound the OG lekker switches have must be the characteristic of gateron's HE switch design. Guess I will have to wait for gateron to iron it out with future HE switches they release. Or some other manufacturer might solve that in the future.

@@Keybored in different HE switches and aftermarket springs. Yes, they are pingy, crunchy and feel mushy, because the small wire od and big diameter. It’s huge problem. They also need to be non ferrous and have a non standard size, so it is really hard to find proper replacements. I even thought about ordering some custom beryllium copper springs.

I have a few 60% cases lying around, they should sell the PCB and foams without the case for about a 100 or so, that would be great, I feel like that open case design is not a good compliment for the type of switches the PCB uses, so offering the option to just get the PC is a no brainer.

the main selling point of wooting is the ability to bind up to 4 keybinds on a single key using different actuation point. if this doesnt have it, it is no better than any good optical keyboard, especially razer analog ones.

While I find the magnetic switches interesting, I also feel they´re kinda gimmicky. Outside of hardcore gamers, most people don´t need a super fast switch that you can adjust I think. One thing I have noticed and do like, is that these switches don´t have pins that can bend out of shape and I see that the PCB doesn´t need hot swap sockets.

i agree, i actually used atk68 on gateron magentic switches and g65 on raesha switches and they were pretty bad in terms of sounding and feeling if we compare them to my main keyboard mod 007 pc. In terms of performance i think they was slightly better, but i can't say that difference is day and night, it's like 1k hz mice and 4k hz mice. There is a difference, but not that much

I was expecting it to sound better being a custom mech company making a gaming keyboard. Honestly the wooting I have with the like 3 mods I have done to it (adding my own foam mod, tape, and coins for weight sounds a lot better than this does. Still meh because the lekkar switches sound horrible. But this sounds even worse lol that case sucks.

For everyone who is not up to date. All the KZbin people who review peripherals for gaming, have all said that not a single HE keyboard has been as good as Wootings. Obviously I have no idea about this keyboard since it's so new. But for the rest of the keebs, they are missing one or two key features which kinda negates the point of having an HE keyboard for me atleast. So if you are trying to save money or going for a different form factor, do your research to see if you can live with the missing features. That's all. Just wanted to give a heads up to avoid people from having buyer's remorse.

Nothing wrong with tray mount. I have a few boards with that mounting style. The case with all the holes though is just f%^king dumb. If you transport around between locations you WILL damage the pcb and knock off surface mount parts. There will be no way to tune the sound and it will collect dust and crap. And it just sounds TERRIBLE lol

@@backinbusiness95 Yes because it's a community consensus that the Wooting60HE has the lowest latency across the board compared to other HE competitors. Optimum Tech has some videos where he uses a device and measures the latency, and the wooting trumps all of the competition in both latency and in practical use (software). I can't find a better raved keyboard for latency, can you?
