Originally Taylor let Little Big Town record this song. But when Taylor re-recorded her album, she put it on so she could retain the rights to her song.

💖💖 I think she always just wanted to do it herself, bc it is her song. Big Machine never had rights to this one; it wasn't on the original record. Unless they signed LBT? She moved into pop in 2014, so there wasn't a next "country" record to put it on. My guess on why it wasn't on Red was numbers: the deluxe was 22 songs, she was 22. She always had the right to record it, though. But I suspect (with no proof) that she was smart enough to see the writing on the wall and know she was going to be leaving Big Machine by the time this and Babe came out, as well. 2016? 2017? or sometime near that. She was apparently already fighting with Big Machine for the masters; no reason to make it worse for herself.

@@robertthompson7242 She had vault songs, songs that didn't make it on the original, which could be considered a vault song. But, does it matter, the facts are Little Big Town recorded it and now Taylor has it on her album and now officially owns it.

Ah, we’re getting into Jake gyllenhal territory. So this was originally meant to be on red released in 3012, but it didn’t make the cut. When she re-recorded it in 2021 because she wanted the rights to her past catalogue it made the red rerelease. Just a note, when you see a (Taylor’s Version) tacked onto the end of her songs, it’s a re-recorded version done between 2020-2023 so she could own her own work. Subsequently many of these songs also have (from the vault) in the title, so they are songs that didn’t make the original album, but were written for that specific album. The album red is mainly written about Jake, he was her second huge age gap relationship after John Mayor. Most call this album her best work, and the song all too well (about Jake) her magnum opus.

The first time I heard this was little big town, but as soon as I found out it was Taylor’s it took on a new meaning. She’s gone back to her roots a little here. For me it reminded me of my ex,ihadto leave him for domestic abuse. But if he was a better mani would still be there. Its hard

Youre losing me, Taylor officially released the song at the end of last year after being Spotifys top global artist. All to well 10 minute version, but watch the short film for it with sadie sink. Taylor directed it. both songs are her Magnum Opus. You wont regret these i promise. 💙💙💙💙💙

The All Too Well 10 minute version short film is fantastic, but I think a lot of people, especially newer fans, need to see the lyric version first. She has so many exquisite lyrics in All Too Well 10 minute version, and some of that can get lost when people are focused on what’s going on in the film.

Taylor wrote a lot of songs (bc she never really stops) that never got on her albums; and the deluxe version of Red had 22 songs. The year she was 22. Numbers are sort of important to her. But there were two songs she really wanted people to hear, and she had moved into pop. This song was put out by Little Big Town (and got lots of awards); and Babe was put out by Sugarland (lots of awards, and Taylor did backing vocals, and was in the music video). It's nice to hear what she does with them now; but the other bands did a nice job on them back when. She has also done several collabs with somewhat unlikely bands (which are not vault tracks) and soundtrack music (which are added now to the re-records).
