Nice review of the Old Town 119. I have one in bright red without any accessories and enjoy it for lazy paddles and casual fishing.Had a green one a few years back and in between tried the Old Town Pack. While the Pack was lighter I preferred the 119 for its added depth and stiffness.

Solo canoe is a great option. I have a 12’ aluminum that weighs 32lbs, you can stand in it easy and it can be paddled tandem. Plus it cost me 150$ lol

The only company in the US that I know of that makes a solo aluminum canoe is Ozarkian. Those canoes run about $1000.00.

I cut out the small trays on both sides to use as handles, much easier now to pick up and load and unload and to portage with the bottom of the seat on top of my head...

Depends on what you're going for I guess. Most likely lighter and faster than a fishing kayak but if you're looking for stability something to stand up and sight fish from this doesn't look like an option.

What if you add outriggers? I was using my paddle as outriggers and my son was trying to flip us and it would stop the canoe from leaning too much and getting water

@@AliexFolgueira that would help sure however you could also add outriggers to a kayak. Scottie makes inflatable ones that are easy to add on I've seen so seems adding outriggers here makes it just stable enough to stand up in carefully? While adding outriggers to even a low end yak like pelicans catch etc would make it almost like a floating dock. Still be more stable ?? Really depends how much cheaper this is and have to take into account the added cost of needed outriggers for this boat. What the MSR?

And you can already stand on them so you can add outriggers to them and still be within the price range of this canoe. They want have the speed of course but the stability to fish from

Definitely an interesting option for recreational paddling in calm waters. I personally would not want this as a fishing vessel because of the tip factor; I flap around too much and would spend half the day in the water!

I mainly fish Santa Barbara open waters area, and channel islands offshore. Sometimes local lakes. I really like the sit inside style more than the sit on tops. But lately I'm looking at sit on tops pedal drive kayaks or hybrid canoe/kayak styles to purchase. Really getting into the sport more. Even if I had a bad day fishing, just being out enjoying the views is great.

Aliex, be certain and don't place your gear tracks in your paddling stroke range . . . where you were pointing on the video wouldn't be a good idea. Owing to the canoe shape here, it makes me wonder if a Native Ultimate FX 13 at 32.5" beam and over 13 feet length would be the fastest "paddler" of most fishing pedal kayaks??? It is sort of a hybrid between a canoe and kayak. If you can review one, that'd be great! Brad

So many videos-- SUP better than kayak, Canoe better than kayak. If you have to say, "better than" --then it's not. 'Touring' kayaks are the highest performing of all paddle craft but, that certainly doesn't mean they are better. They are just one small niche in a broad range of paddling sports. And, certainly canoes and SUPs are better than kayaks in some situations.
