Better than a Traxxas Slash? [ARRMA] Senton 3s BLX, 1 Year on.

The Arrma Senton 3s BLX IMO is still the best 1/10 Short Course Truck out the box. And for the money, you can't get better! Traxxas Slash owners tell me I'm wrong?
This is what I said 1 yr ago about the Senton... Still agree?
"So, Arrma RC released the 3s BLX (Brushless) version of the Senton a few months back, say what you want about ARRMA, but this thing will take over the Traxxas Slash as the go to Basher. Tough, Fast and looks amazing! Worlds Best RC Short Course Truck! (for bashing)"
Although I still think this is the number 1 SCT, I think Arrma need to think about a revision, and maybe bring out a Senton 4s BLX? Especially because the Senton 6s BLX has been discontinued.

Honestly think across the 100+ models I've had, the Senton 3s is the most fun and best value for money basher on the market.... The leaky shocks is apparently down to the cartridges, I've been told about a mod you can do to replace the cartridges with o rings, 5 in each shock is whats needed, I've got some, but not done the mod yet... I will give it a try eventually, with AE green slime and some 40-50wt oil, when I can be bothered, all four of mine leaked, but the truck had sat in the shed for three months unused, first bash out again and all four leaked, probably due to dry seals, prior to that I had no issues with leaking.

After much deliberation I just ordered my Senton 3s, along with an 8500 mAh 3s battery pack. Hope it arrives tomorrow, so I can start BLASTING! It was between the Senton and Slash Ultimate, but after seeing a LOT of reviews and comparisons I believe I made the right choice. Any tweaks or upgrades you can recommend right away?

You’ll have a blast. Shocks can leak...not sure if they have revised them at all. There is a cheap fix using some Tamiya o-rings (Shen RC made a video), other than that I’ve had no issues other than breaking an A arm (after a few hard, bad landings) and a wheelie bar/support for the same reason. Love my Senton 😎

If it's the New V3.... then the shocks are sorted on that. If not, you should be able to get the better 'O' Rings from the V3 and fit them. I've not looked at it yet.

They are pretty good out the box. Leaky shocks can be a pain (KZbin Shen RC...he has a fix for that). Batteries... so many to choose from. I like the Gensace 5000mah Bashing series.

I forgot to mention in the video, but mine is pre Horizon Hobby, so has the better Tactic Radio. The Spektrum radio may be the thing that makes these less desirable. As for Servos and ESCs.... all my Arrmas still run stock servos and the original ESCs.

Thanks for showing the video...I agree with you. I love Traxxas I have 2 of them TRX-4 and Summit but they slightly losing ground being complacent resting their laurels on the X-Maxx and Maxx. The Slash is a very old platform and the Senton is better. Anyways I'm thinking of getting this Senton or the Granite, what do you think? Both same chassis platform. But which should I get?

Granite is a better basher for skate parks and in general, the Senton is a little more refined and planted, but still crazy! Tough choice.

@@TomleyRC did some research and it appears the BLX has beefier shocks but the overall vehicle size and approximate weight are very close to the same so I'm not sure why you'd need such large shocks when the mega's shocks seem to be doing great...maybe you can get a set of mega shocks and see if they'll work for you?

Replace the o-rings in the shocks with ones made of silicon or something softer. The original ones are hard thats why the shocks leak.

Better value but again the senton and the slash have shitty shocks bent my firat slash 4x4 ones by landing upside down off of a curb and all the oil leaked so that also the drive shafts onw ord garbage then after all that is sorted tou have a soild truck but So does the senton also has the problem of th shocks and the chassis rarely breaks but is hella annoying to replace but besides that its soild but in the longs run if you have enough just get then 6s if you can find it though but it goes from 300 to 479 so 179$ more can get yoi an even better rc but this is my opinion on if you want 3s or 6s its your money buy what you want just know ahead about certain things

The body shell I think is to blame for the front coming up at speed gents, air gets trapped in it, this will slow the car a little 🤔 can't be having that 🤣 the shell needs ventilation so air can pass straight through it but this reduces strength a little. My Senton front lifts at any speed because it has a max10, 4076 2200kv, 26t pinion and Granite wheels and is insane 🤣 that's my own fault lol. SC tyres literally tear to shreds they need to be belted to stand a chance of survival. I've given my Senton a Kraton stance, it's 16.5inchs wide but still has the SC body, mounts and bumpers.. it's a tiny bit narrower than my 6s Kraton. You can only imagine how well this thing handles gents 😁 it's amazing. Get creative with these trucks man all the parts are interchangeable so get building bros ✌😜

i cant speak for any other of the slash lineup but for my money the platinum slash has been the best short course ive had or seen on the track. next to mine.. and ive raced against this senton a few times.... and the platinum comes with a tons of upgrades and the shocks dont leak .... i have upgraded my electronics though but still have the original vilenion system in another vehicle. but never had any issues with the stock slash and all i replace is an axle whenever i break one.... 5 minute fix and ive had it for four yrs

Traxxas is the only rc car company that makes more from selling parts than selling cars. That alone should make people realize they are overpriced pieces of plastic. Plastic downgrades over time and breaks. Then your hobby shop has more traxxas parts than anything because they make the most money from broken traxxas cars.

I havent had to replace my parts over time and my slash 4x4 is now 7 years old and I've only replaced 1 A arm and rear bulkhead because of crashing it and that was 4 years ago all other parts are completely fine ofc bearings do need some maintenance

Their are problems that the berings will fail soon if meet with water then also then the servo will fail maybe not but yeah besides that and the senton 3s is pretty good also another thing the chassis have tendency to break near the a arms or near right in the middle but most people and also if you want to get better shocks the get the typhon 6s shocks or the ebay shocks that some people have found that work very well anyways this is from person who has a slash 4x4 and this arrma senton 3s sold the senton to buy a typhon 6s but yeah liked the video tho tbh

Right you are bud, Senton is the muts nuts but then I think the whole of the Arrma 1/10 collection are amazing trucks, there's not much difference in them all design wise just a few altered measurements. The Senton is king and that's because the body's shell protects everything on top of the chassis. Front shock and towers are left exposed on some and a tiny bumper, zero protection from flips and crashes. Chuck a bash armour on a Senton and all you'll have to worry about is the body mount posts 😂 we have to carry spares until RMP make an upgrade. I can see exactly how the design needs to be changed but do you think I can get this damn 3D printer working! 🤬🤬🤬🤣🙂👍✌

Yeah these take a beating. I broke an A Arm on a really bad landing (well about 4 or 5 bad landings), other than that it's been all good!

@@TomleyRC A-arm, steering knuckle, rear body mount, stock front skid plate.. bash hard or don't bother I say lol. Tbone do a chassis skid plate bro, I think it will stop the chassis snapping again by the rear battery strap could be worth a look mate 🙂✌👍

Just put some foam washers under the body posts(or on top), helps quite a bit.

Starts out saying "really tough" Then continues with "already broken the A arm and the wheelie bar. The problem with the shocks is they are notorious for leaking". So is there anything better? mmmmm yeah

You know what better then both? Team associated sc10 lol way more durable then any thing traxxas makes and if that arrma is anything like the voltage on the durability aspect then its garbage and the slash is way better. That arrma breaks every time we take it out. Cant even jump with snapping outdrives then loosing the axel. Worst rc i ever bought

Once you ad in the cost of receiver, servo, and transmitter upgrade the senton isn't that cheep.

Mines still on the stock Servo & Tactic Transmitter/Receiver. The first lot of Spektrum transmitters to come with these were crap, but theV3 has addressed that issue. I've never had a servo break on any of my Arrmas.... it's a myth that they are weak lol
