Waqar, Wasim, Donald, Walsh, Lillee are were great bowlers of their time. The era they belong to was dominated by bowlers. Cricket has evolved with time in favour of Batsman. Like Technology wise, Rule wise, Ground Dimensions wise aand despite all these things any batsman from today's era doesn't feel comfortable facing Bumrah. So yes, Bumrah isn't any less than those legendary bowlers. Edit: Moreover if anyone has any doubt about Bumrah being the best in current era, his ODIs economy (4.60) and T20 economy (6.20) says it all. No other PACER (making debut with or after Bumrah did ie 2016) is close to him.

There are 2 white balls today in 50 over cricket vs only 1 back then. I saw no reverse swing from Waqar when the bowl was only 20 overs old or lesser. His reverse swing used to start around over 35. His economy rate in 50 over cricket is still worse than Bumrah's in an era where bats used to be thinner. There is no comparison. Waqar and Wasim struggled to defend even 350+ in 4th innings in Brisbane against Australia in 1999. I saw how Australians were scoring at 4+ in a test match against their bowling. The only 90's era bowler that you can really compare Bumrah against is Ambrose. Only Ambrose had the level of control that Bumrah had. Ambrose used to demolish the same Australian batting of Waugh brothers and co that used to thrash these Pakistanis.

Waqar before injury (1992) was lethal. Probably the best bowler in the history of cricket. His stats before 92 are unbelievable. Almost Every ball was above 150 plus with late banana swing. Even after his injury he recorded 153 against South Africa. Imagine how quick he was before injury. He was unplayable even on dead pitches as he never relied on pitches to take wickets. Alec Stewart who played almost against avery bowler in that era he said that waqar was quickest. At that time there were no machines to record speed. He was a treat to watch

You can not compare bumrah and waqar. The latter has longer career and took more wickets. If bumrah sustain this form for another 5-6 years he will be legends no doubt on that. Comparing Bumrah with Waqar Younis is fool's dream. Wasim & Waqar (2 W's), that pair was lethal in their era of 80s & 90s. This pair was considered to be the best. A nightmare for the batsmen, destroying batting lineup of the opponent was their ultimate goal. As one may recall, the black storm (West Indies bowling attack) of 70s & 80s, same was with this pair. Their era is called as Golden & Prime era for 🇵🇰 Cricket.

I may not agree with Wasim Sir, because if you compare the eras in which Bumrah played and Waqar played, there is a lot of difference because in modern day cricket there are so many restrictions for a bowler and modern day batters with so many innovative shots who can even smash your good deliveries. So to perform in this era with some exceptional bowling figures is very rare. So for me Bumrah is any day better than anybody in all three formats.

Waqar younis was one of the greatest bowler of all time. The thing which distinguishes wasim and waqar from bowlers of present generation is that they were equally good in tests and odis. Their execution of skill was above par. Apart from these facts, waqar younis has taken more five wicket haul than any other fast bowler. He had taken these when wasim akram, saqlain mushtaq and shoaib akhtar were also part of the team. One can imagine the efficiency and effectiveness of a bowler who is taking five wicket hauls in presence of some great bowlers of that era.

Had Bumrah played in those era on bowlers pithches, he would have broken all world records. Other bowlers of those era had not be so good in present era on batting pitches. I always thought Wasim was most lethal. But Bumrah has surpassed Wasim in accuracy and is most lethal ever. Bumrah's ball talks as if being controlled by some remote and software.

I have watched Was and Waq throughout their career. Certainly they were sight to behold. Don't compare them with Bumrah. Let Bumrah play for 4 more years and let's see what he does. As of now Was is no. 1, Waq is no. 2 and Bumrah 3 between them. But Bumrah potentially can cross both of them in next 4 years if he can play without mishaps.

I think Bumra is a great bowler but we cant compare him now with wasim and waqar. Bumbra has bowled greatly specially in last few years. But wasim waqar bowled greatly nearly 20 years (Specially wasim) in test Matches and one days. Bumbra can become better than them.If he continues his performances at least for ten years.

Now the nostalgic cricket fans wont say that waqar was assisted by pitches and rules. Bumrah is doing it in unfavourable conditions and still has better stats than waqar and Wasim. I watched waqar(not at his peak) for 6 years but he was never as lethal or consistent as bumrah is. He was very good in prime but except for that, he was nowhere near Bumrah.

Bumrah’s bowling nobody smashed many runs but Waqar was smashed all over the park by Ajay Jadeja & Andrew Symonds & eventually he bowled a Beamer & umpire thrown him out from the ground although he was the captain in 2003 WC but couldn’t finish his spell when Symonds smashed him all over the ground . 😅

Those time pitches were bowling friendly, Where no DRS, reverse swing, old ball and many other things were available to help a bowler. But Bumrah is dominating in todays batting dominated era. There is no comparison between Waqar and Bumrah. In my opinion both are in different leagues. 1) if I talk about Waqar, he had a great sprinting run up, running from long and bowling at 145+, was literally fun to watch. More over he was known for his killer yorkers. Reverse swing was his lethal weapon. We didn't see Bumrah bowling that kind of reverse swing and also he is not fun to watch. 2) Bumrah in this era is indeed a great bowler. Front arm action, and absolute control on his bowling, here I have to say that he may have better control than Waqar. His yorkers are again very lethal and his consistency with line and length is what makes him a great bowler. Lastly his action is difficult to read, as it is quite unique which add his Lethality. Both are great in my opinion though!

Ofcourse you'll get more reverse swing when there is only 1 whiteball used for entire 50 overs. Second, Waqar struggled badly with control with new ball. He used to leak runs. Also, his record against Australia in Australia is pathetic. How many series did Wasim and Waqar win in Australia for their team vs Bumrah, and you'll have your answer. There are more skills to bowling than just reverse swing.
