I was just introduced to this speaker and the F501SP in an audio store in Montreal, I wanted to sound test and check prices since I was originally planning to upgrade my 7.1 JBL ES series to Studio 590's and an Emotiva Airmotiv C2+ everyone always recommends to pair with it. When I heard the Fyne Audio I died and came back to life, God spoke to me through those speakers and told me I need them and any sacrifice is acceptable in order to attain them. I'm selling my 2nd bike, gaming headphone I never use and some tools, who needs 4 drills when these exist?!?

Great video and I cannot agree more with your conclusions. After auditioning over 15 speakers (some cheaper/some more expensive) I ended up buying the Fyne F502SP. They are just phenomenal speakers, easily beating speakers that I listened to that were twice the price. The workmanship on the speakers is absolute fantastic as well! I cannot recommend the brand & speakers highly enough.

I own the F502, and yes... they are simply one heck of a speaker for music lovers. I love those things. I have had between 10/15 speakers under 5K, but these simply have me charmed. I added a high pass at 50Hz and added sub down to below 20, and I now I have home one of the best systems I've ever heard anywhere. I've been simply enjoying music. Thanks for sharing. PD: Definitely worth striving for synergy. I am amazed how these speakers react so sharply to different electronics! Wonder if that's why Nelson pass still uses Tannoy transducers to test amplifiers... there might be something on the genes of these speakers... just saying. PD2: Try Jamiroquai - Morning Glory. There is a cowbell that comes in during few spots of the song... it is insane how it goes around your head with these Fyne speakers. I love these things... seriously.

Yes, amazing speakers. I was in the market for new speakers last year, never heard of Fyne, got swept of my feet with the floorspanders F501 (the room-filling nephew instead of the nearfield F500). A couple of things stand out to me: Imaging (advantage of co-ax, just as your Kefs), detail / control in upper-mids and deep bass, and just the feeling of realism you get: As if especially voices and copper instruments are right there in the room. By how you describe the sound signature, sounds very similar to the sound of my Dynaudio Emit M20’s. Smooth and laid back with plenty of detail and amazing centre imaging with the vocals and pinpoint soundstage instrument placement. Only difference is my Dynaudio’s only go down to about 50Hz and the Fyne F50-00 go down to 45Hz, so a little more on the bottom end with these speakers.

Nice! Thanks for this Thujan, solid work. Coax ftw! Each loudspeaker type has advantages ... there's no perfect solution. In addition to all the normal nearfield capabilities, any coaxial/coincident loudspeakers offer up advantages in a manner in which other designs simply can't. They don't output the deep lobing nulls that accompany other designs. This results in greater spectral 𝘤𝘰𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 between the direct sound with the reflected energy ... thus supporting the precedence effect even more, thus aiding imaging, soundstaging (our ability to resolve the auditory scene). Psycho-acoustic work from Toole and others, determined the spectral/phase uniformity in the off axis energy to the direct energy possesses a significant benefit. The precedence effect remains intact because there is a spectral similarity between the direct and reflected sound. Coax ftw!

I know this question has nothing to do with this video (sorry about that) but it's your most recent one, so I figured you'd be watching it's comments more closely. In any case, I was wondering if you had any experience with Genelec or Adam Audio powered speakers? (the Genelec 8040B or Adam Audio A7X) My questions are: Are the amps powering these speakers/model lineups all class D? Also, can the internal digital components be disabled/turned off completely, to allow independent control via Dac/source/streamer/etc? The Elac Navis ARB-1 allows for this. Thanks in advance.
@ThujanK3 жыл бұрын
So for most powered monitors they have DSP and a class D amp built inside. As they do not care for a pure analog signal and rely on DSP to sound "correct". The elac Navis is an exception that is designed for an audiophile in mind who does not want digital processing in their speakers. So with the ADAM and the Genelac no you won't be able to turn it off completely to my knowledge. You can however set the Bass and Treble adjustments to the 0 (neutral) position. hope that helps!

Great review, succinct and informative. I think you are pointing out one of the compromises that the renowned Hi-Fi brands have. Which seem to me, are designed with a top end that calls attention to itself, with an end goal of providing the listener with gobs more detail than what you can typically hear live. I love it when a speaker can do that. However, my listening is typically a marathon session, and with such designs I find myself not wanting to be in front of them for very long. Likewise, what I end up with, and also enjoy, is a speaker with a flatter frequency response that dials in on a more realistic presentation, versus the one that can convey the hyper-real.
@VariHapii3 жыл бұрын
Thujan... Why are you doing this to me! Now i'm dying to hear these.. Seriously! You kind of touched on this in the video, but in your opinion, are they as finicky with power source as the ls50's? Define near field? Do you need several foot for the sub and speakers to sound correct together?
@Projacked13 жыл бұрын
Several feet from where? A sub is supposed to sound like it's coming from the stereo setup. If not, keep tweaking. Near -field is excactly what it says, made for near-field listening....meaning closer then your normal hifi stuff. It's usually designed for studio's / mixing.
@blainefrank92433 жыл бұрын
@@Projacked1 thanks. I’ve been using Mackies HR824s sitting like 4 feet away for many years but want to upgrade they go down to about 70hrz and I haven’t added a sub as to not bother my neighbors.
@Projacked13 жыл бұрын
@@blainefrank9243 Size does matter. I have an 8" Tannoy monitor. Nearfield, perfect for the mix...Further away it does hifi justice as well. The further the better you can pick up the lowest end. Your speakers spec to 35 Hz, so my guess you probably can't hear that because of room restrictions. If you can change that (to have more distance) do that first. With an extra sub, yes you could go lower , but it has to glue with the stereo field. I recommend moving the speakers first, and try to get as much as possible from the room first. It will take some time, but that, to me is the fun part. It's also handy if you have an extra person to make subtle changes while you sit in the listening position. Follow these rules-> 1* Find the bass sweetspot with distance, use just one speaker for that. (easy trick= place the speaker on the listening position and walk around the room to find the sweet spot, and mark that distance. 2* Find the vocal height sweetpot (also one speaker). So tweak the height until the singer sounds like he/she is standing in front of you, with your eyes closed! Looking at the setup will confuse the brain. 3* Find the treble sweet spot , with two speakers and listen to hihats or cymbals . Then tweak the stereo field so that hats or cymbals don't sound squeezed in the middle. 4* Volume L/R balance by shifting back or forwards with the speakers. You will also notice when rotating the speakers: f.e:. rotating the L-speaker to the right will also shift the stereo image to the right and vice versa. So keep cycling thru step 3 and 4. When shifting backwards you also need to adjust rotation. Long story, but follow this, and it will start to make sense very fast. And you will have a lot of fun doing it, plus you are training your ears to audiophile standards. It will also teach you the true limits of your speaker.

Just one point of criticism - have a glass of water ready when doing the videos and don't be ashamed to do multiple takes.

How far did you put the LS50 away from the wall?
@ThujanK3 жыл бұрын
A few inches, I did have the bass ports plugged and a high pass filter of 80hz enabled to control the bass output.

Thujan Krishnakumar. Two essential conditions for the LS50 to work properly. 1.The LS50 need room to breath. Keep it at 1m away from the wall, you will hear great soundstage depth and great imaging. Placed close to the wall, the images become vague and poorly focused. 2. An amp with high current. They pair very well with AB push pull amps and 300B-805 based Single Ended Triode amps.

@@zeissiez To give you some reference I've used them in a dedicated two channel listening room. I agree they perform best when tailored with higher end components with quality power and space to breath. I've owned about 7 pairs in the past 5 years. They are quite popularly used nearfield on a desk. Which do have it's pros and cons.

@@ThujanK I am gonna guess the Fyne is better even than the Meta. The distributor says in Europe their 2 way speakers in this price outsell everything else. Grain of salt naturally but...

@@ThujanK thank you for telling us about the quirks & features of the Fyne F500 😁 I like the Fyne audio speakers in general. I heard the F701 and F702 and really liked the rich dynamic sound & forgiving off axis performance. The build quality looks impeccable too.
