Don't confuse Timefactors Smiths with the actaul Smiths brand that sponsored the Everest Expedition. The two are not related. What you are reviewing is a Chinese made homage of a Smiths.

Even though I have a vintage Explorer and a 12470 Tritium (holes case as I to like these best) I’d love to add an inexpensive PRS-25 Everest Guilt dial and just a great everyday watch.

I have a Smiths PRS-25 Everest 36mm and it is one of my favorite watches, very well made, attractive, wears well and its proportions are perfect. Sir Edmund Hillary carried a Smiths to the summit of Everest. Smiths has equal provenance to Rolex when it comes to Everest.

@Terrence Stone I respectfully disagree. First, no Rolex Explorer was ever carried to the summit by Sir Edmund Hillary as that model did not exist when he climbed Everest. There is much doubt if any Rolex made it to the summit that day, but there is no doubt that a Smiths was taken to the summit by Hillary, as he wrote to Smiths attesting to that fact. Second, Smiths was given a "second life" the same way Blancpain, Panerai, Vulcain, Eterna, Corum, Elgin, Gruen, Waltham, Universal Geneve and Nivada Grenchen were. Some of these brands are not in production currently, but every one of them were sold to a third party after the original company failed - the quartz crisis had many casualties. However, the heritage and history of a brand never goes away. The brands all just have new owners. And I am a big fan of the Rolex Explorer, despite the fact that Hillary did not take one to Everest's summit.

@Terrence Stone The Smiths Everest is a homage, but it is very well done. Holds up surprisingly well in heft, wrist feel, fit and finish to my Rolex. I also own a Smiths Commando, a homage to the Rolex Commando, and equally well done. Smiths also makes a watch that is very similar to the exact Smiths that Hillary took on his Antarctic Expedition - the Everest Expedition. We will just have to "agree to disagree" on the Smiths heritage. Cheers and have a great day!

Nice video however why is Rolex story more credible ??? Hilary writes in his diary that he left his Rolex at base camp before he summated Everest and carried another watch. He doesn’t name the watch but he only took two watches the Smiths and the Rolex therefore he must have had the Smiths. Marketing a product is mostly exaggerating or manipulating the truth and Rolex have sold the Everest story for years that people believe it. Look at the Omega Speedmaster story .. it was not the only watch worn on the moon but people believed it until 2017 when the Bulova appeared. These watches would not have the cult following if the truth was known at the time . So your opinion that Rolex is a more credible story is a bit silly when you haven’t really researched the full story.

No, when i said that Rolex’s story is more credible, i meant that because of their much bigger reach, influence and marketability. Not that their story is the true one

Too bad they only make like 5 a year, also no pre-order or waiting list. I can't stand companies that does everything to help a**holes that flip the watches for 5 times it's value. Rolex wannabes 🤮
