Hey man! Good to see you on the sawmill again. Another thing, some guy on another channel had purchased a motorcycle lift and was using it for a toe board. It was flat and scissored up. He used an cordless impact to use it. It was fast and worked great on his woodland mills sawmill. Look into it. It might just be the ticket. Like your hot rod mill. Tim

Hi Tony, love the channel! Question...have you considered taking a burlap bag and zip tying it to the saw dust exhaust, would it work? Reason I ask is I frequently see people buying and selling saw dust on market place and craigslist. If it worked it won't make you rich, but might buy a tank of fuel.

Tony, right under your nose is jacks for leveling the mill and under the hood of most old trucks were screw jacks. I would bolt a jack to a flat piece of metal, that reaches either side of the mill rails and would stand upright with a piece of metal tack welded to the top of it. Set it between the rails and then jack those logs up as much as you want to make the taper of the log in your favor. A old drill or whatever to run the jack up and down for easy but those handles work good too. Just remember to run back down after your cut is made on the one side. If its portable then it would work on either end but one on each end shouldn't be too hard to find under the hoods of old trucks or harbor freight. I think with a little studying, you could make it so it will fold out of the way or raise when needed. I wish I knew what breed of dog it is that you have as I have the brother in brown and white... right down to the loyal loving dogs they are... very smart... Mine is a wide glide model as he see's food and he can eat all of it straight away. As long as you keep good tension on the blade, they seldom dive or wander off the line.

That’s a good size engine for that mill, should go through anything you can put on there. The 14 horse on my hm130max works hard on large oak (24”) but gets the job done. Smaller stuff isn’t much of an issue.

pine is especially vulnerable to worm damage. You cant leave it sitting around. In mills they keep it wet with sprinklers. You can debark logs too. better to cut the tree and saw it. Winter bug damage is low. Saw in the snow. Some body gave me some pine logs. The ones at the bottom of the pile were pretty riddled. You may have a use for this wood, like concrete forms.

I wish some one like you would come down here after after a hurricane and process the trees. They just chopped up and put in a politicians brothers pasture. You need to build yourself a brow. You put the logs on that and roll them gently onto the mill. You have a temp thing to bridge from brow to mill. then you take the temp bridge off. The hydraulic mills dont make doing this worth while. They are super expensive. Their production is not that much more. My Thomas mill had a 14HP Honda as standard. It was good enuf. 7 Hp is lowish.
@TonysTractorAdventure2 жыл бұрын
Not me. I like being able to get the tractor close. It is a portable mill, so I don't want to get it hemmed in. Still it's not a bad idea.
@kennkid99122 жыл бұрын
@@TonysTractorAdventure The brow is only on the side. you have a bridge piece between it and the mill. You load and take the bridge piece away and then saw. . The brow lets the mill stay mobile. Your mill is more deluxe than mine was and higher with adjustable legs. I duidnt want to hit my mill and knock it out of level. Good luck. that log looked pretty past it.
