Caught me by surprise with the reverse direction that popped the blade! I'm so glad you and Doug have a great friendship and are able to work together. I lost that when my best friend passed away a few years ago. He would have enjoyed watching you work together as we did. Thanks for another interesting video. Wishing to you and your family (and to Doug's as well) a most wonderful and prosperous New Year! Be well and be safe!

Cutting a yard full of firewood today in northern Minnesota. With a tiny Worx 120VAC 14". It actually cuts real nice for an el cheapo. Except when the bar isn't long enough to cut across the flat. The tip will not cut. I believe it's because it has a safety chain. My major complaint for this saw - the top handle is too close to the chain. Many times where my pointer finger is only a 1/4" away from the meat grinder. I think you hit some dirt to dull that chain. That oak is beautiful.

I'm glad Doug was there to help you. I hope you do use the wood for your wife's kitchen. I think it would look good and it would be something you can tell people that you milled yourself. On the parts that have the rot.....if you cleaned out some of it and then put some type of sealer on it, would it stop the rot or would it continue?

I know the 45 minutes of adjustment time might have seemed long, but it’s better than the time to try and straighten a bent frame structure. I’m not even sure you could straighten it on site. I would almost think you’d need a frame straightening machine in a body shop. So at the end of the day, you wound up with some beautiful slabs and a saw mill that will be ready to roll tomorrow. All that said I know both you and Doug know that. You guys always do thing’s smarter not harder.

Great video Adam! I like that you demonstrate how you can do great things with more affordable equipment. Question: What is that red demolition hammer/pickaroon/war club thing that Doug was using to debark the log?? Now for some dark humor...at the 3:24 mark the text should read "Neighbor Doug showed up to be a second eye." Ha Ha. Hopefully he's a good sport and won't be offended.

#1 Awesome video. #2.Those slabs were gorgeous with a Capital O. gOrgeous. #3 Forget kitchen counter. Those slabs are too sexy. Time for a custom headboard on a custom made bed. #4 That was stressful. Moving that log with the excavator. I thought for a minute that you bit off more then you could chew. Glad it worked out. #5 How thick is the ice after that crazy cold storm?

WOW!!! That makes the effort worth it. Stunning, beautiful slabs there, Adam. I had to laugh when you first 'tried' to pick the log up with the excavator. I pulled a bunch of stumps on my nephews ranch, back in September, with his KX-057-4. Some of them were so heavy, I had to use the bucket and thumb to pull them up on the blade and balance them, and even then, they were so heavy they lifted the back of the excavator off the ground when I moved them. What's the weight of your excavator? It looks a little bigger than my nephew's Kubota, and it weighs 13,000 pounds.
