The original Twister's new Atmos mix on 4K Blu-ray was great... except the dialog. It felt really thin and didn't have much low end. It bothered me a lot, so much so that I was checking to see if the woofer on my center channel had blown/broken or something. Nope, they were working... just barely moving as there's not a lot of center channel below I wanna say 400-ish Hz (just a guess at that crossover point). Maybe it's just the movie, I'd have to check my older Blu-ray but I don't recall the dialog sounding so thin before. Anyway I'll be sure to check this newer movie out, not sure I wanna buy it though.

Same issue for me on the Kaleidoscope version with Dolby Atmos. Mine also has a slight audio sync issue too, which was not the case on other movies.

I compared against Maverick on Kscape and did have to bump it 2db to match the center channel output. It wasn't significant enough for me to mention in the video.

@therealshanelee I would like to know how A Quiet Place Day One must sound. It is one of those dynamic range well done mix. I found the online stream rental purchase mix (21 gigabyte) was pretty good 👍. At the end of the day we know that DTS:X MA on physical media is going to sound louder and more dynamic at the same volume setting compared to the same corresponding media in Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD.

I absolutely loved Twisters! I saw it twice at the cinema. Love the cast, loved the storyline and the cgi is great! I’ve always loved the original but obviously the CGI for it’s time let’s it down at times, but I still love it for what it is

Thank you for the great review. I especially appreciate the graphical representation of how each of your channels are active. I know there has been a lot of excitement for the remaster of the original twister. I came away underwhelmed by it. Perhaps my expectations were just set too high. I appreciate you providing perspective on how old the original film is which likely contributes to limitations on how audio can be remastered. The video on that film was very good. I look foward to watching Twisters at some point.

The iTunes DL came through this morning. I was EXTREMELY concerned with the HD-only info card shown on the download. It's since been corrected to reflect 4K, but it had me worried. Great review, BTW. Excellent numbers. The original is a long-time favorite, so I'm looking forward to tonight's viewing. As always, thanks, Shane!

I can wait for a the streaming version and if it doesn't have atmos at least I will have saved myself some money. These companies are just leaving money on the table.

@@lacrossed55 I agree with my 4K disc's Atmos track. From the start, there's a lack of ambient sounds and overall disappointing sound, even after turning up the volume. For example, in the first scene when they're driving in the car, I can only hear dialogue clearly (barely any engine, weather, etc.). 7.1.4 setup with plenty of other Atmos discs that are superior to Twisters. Defective disc?

Any chance you'll be importing Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In from Hong Kong? Just came out on bluray over there just as it came out to theatres stateside. No 4K yet but there is Dolby Atmos track. Well Go USA does promise a 4K UHD physical release on November 19th.

My Dolby Cinema turned down the audio for some reason, the ads before the film started seemed fine, don’t know if it was the film or if they turned it down. I’ve been to that theatre before and it always sounded great - very disappointing. It seems I missed out on a lot of the action… will have to make up for it when I watch it again at home. - and that soundtrack btw guys? Every track was a banger!… come on Luke Comb fans!

The audio mix and 35mm cinematography was nice. But man does this film suck! It doesn’t come within spitting distance of the original. It makes Americans look like douchebags, and Americans are not douchebags… just the ones in this film apparently. If the prospect of a 97% musical score consisting of Cowboy Country Western (“you can’t take the home out of Oklahoma”), romantic scenes consisting of a first date at a rodeo watching animals be bullied and tortured and some exceptionally cringey dialogue & scriptwriting tickles your fancy, buy this movie! As a demo disc for Atmos which is what Shane is actually reviewing here, well that’s a different story. Hope I didn’t upset the film-makers too much.

Can you review Dolby Atmos with Apple Spatial Audio devices, I used AirPods Max with movies from Apple TV and able to hear sound from everywhere even overhead similar to theater just amaze how it can achieve that with basically 2 speakers . I want to know your take on this!!!!

Might go watch it tonight at $5 Starlight Cinema Tuesdays but it's Not Dolby Atmos screen. Only Deadpool/Wolverine is the premium screen Atmos. Regal or AMC tickets like $15-20. Best is Movie theaters made in the last 5 years or newer the better.

'I've got drills that keep my truck on the ground!' 😂 Sure, the first film pushed the line of believability at times, but this one doesn't even care. Woohoo. They uograded the appletv version to 4k and Atmos. I really enjoyed this. Sound and video were great. Bur seriously what are apple doing bringing this out without them. If its a technical reason then they need to fix their shit. If its contractual then its just a bad call and anti consumer snd no whatever happens i won't be spending 5k on a media player.

Crazy Apple has started to release these new releases without Atmos. I am beginning to wonder if's down to the fact they worry their service can't handle it because there were a couple of recent releases that stuttered which I have never experienced before and only happens with brand new content. Like everything. Once it gets good it gets shit. Apple is going the way of Amazon.

I enjoyed the original when I first saw it in theater back in 1996. It's a theater that's just installed the then brand new Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and it sounded spectacular! But didn't see this one in theater, I'll wait and pick up the cheap 4K disc during the Holiday sales.

Well , the day there is a major Internet blackout I will still be able to watch movies while the rest of the people are driven to madness because there is no entertainment available anymore.... My data isn't going to some Big Brother server for them to know what I'm doing in real time when watching a movie... Streaming quality is still trash when you have the right TV which is my case and then that Kaleidoscope or whatever is called you have to be rich to afford the storage options... And Who can afford to wait for a 70 GB file to download, only douchebag rich people who can't relate to us the bottom 90% of society that still have to work 50 hours a week to make a paycheck.... I agree, was bored out of my mind. That Anthony Ramos guy is awful and ruins any movie for me but luckily, they got him to tone down his act. I used to visit Oklahoma all the time and this movie didn't even get CLOSE to replicating the bad storms I used to see.
