A WORTHY Successor? TWISTERS UHD 4K HDR Review

I just picked up the disk and it has a very dynamic atmos mix. 🤔 my 7.2.4 is setup like yours and holy moly. The bass and the atmos heights are firing

@@hatoraidcowboy Yeah I came back here to report back my findings. I bumped up my overall system after normal calibration for viewing across all my movies. Could there be a difference between the digital kaliedescape / Physical media. I would hope no but I do remember watching one of the transformers films and I had watched the netflix physical "copy" vs the actual store bought bluray with atmos and it was a massive difference. The netflix copy would not even play certain atmos channels. It was very broken in the heights if that makes sense. The physical BD had all the channels and overall fully dynamic atmos sound with moving objects in the bubble of sound. Curious to hear your thoughts.

@manoroid1 There’s zero difference in audio quality with blu ray vs Kscape in 99% of most cases.

agree totally . great review i had to turn up my master volume up 7 decibel to get some impact. as for the movie i thought it was a pretty good but i was expecting better.

I'll wait for the 4k Blu-ray. I noticed the same thing with Avatar way of the water and it's lacking on streaming but blows away on Blu-ray

It was terrible in my opinion, not a worthy successor. Bill Paxton is rolling over in his grave right now because of it.

I have to agree with your sentiments, and many of others. From a story line perspective, I did not feel this film was a worthy successor to the original film. That said, few are, so I was not that disappointed there. Visually, I felt it was stunning. They did a great job with this transfer. From an audible perspective, I also felt the film was thin. Your description of weightless is an excellent way to describe it. I also found myself boosting volume. So much so, I paused the movie and did a channel check to ensure all of my channels were getting proper amplification. It was that notable to me. The best part of the experience though was that we got to spend time in the theater room as a family. After being in our home for 3 years, this is just not something my wife was interested in. She'd rather watch movies the old-fashioned way. She acknowledged the room just intimidates her. That aside, we did agree to make it a regular Saturday night thing now. Given that I need to pay more attention to the other 2 chairs in the row and just the main listening position. I always appreciate how you share the equipment in your room to evaluate a movie. In doing so, one thing I didn't realize is that the Epson 12000 is a 4K projector. For some reason I thought it was an e-shift projector. No matter, Epson offers great features, solid build quality at a very competitive price. Thank you for the review

@RobZelinka Thanks Rob. The Epson is a 4K e-shift projector. It still provides an exceptional image though. That’s awesome you and your family are spending more time in your theater. My friends and family enjoy coming over to watch movies as well. Hopefully your wide will come to appreciate your home theater experience the more you all are in there. I remember seeing this movie in the theater and it sounded very light, but I could tell if they mixed it properly for the home release it could be demo worthy but alas.

I watched it 1st at standard cinema with totally no bass. Then I watched it at IMAX which the sound quality is awesome with tonnes of bass.

You’re welcome! Yew its very concerning. I think one of the biggest issues is these sound engineers dont have a lot of time to design a proper mix for Blu Ray. Sad

As highly praised as this film was, I thought the studio would do wonders on the home video side. I hope this doesn't affect the 4k physical release.

I recently picked up a Zidoo UHD 5000 and love it! ...I know you had a few Zidoo's as well in the past. How much of an upgrade you say a Kaleidescape is over Zidoo and ripping UHD dics?

For convenience it’s a massive massive upgrade. Audio and video quality can sometimes be a step up over 4K blu ray. It all depends on your wants and needs.

Ufff , saw this yesterday and i thought it was something wrong with my 7.1.6 Denon A1H system but after your review this is absolutely true , very weak Atmos sound and movie for me max 4/10 for effects and 3/10 for rest 😒 Another unfinished loss from Hollywood.

I bought this one based on Shane Lee's review but I had a much different impression than he did. Enjoyed the movie but was disappointed with the audio. Wasn't as impactful and as dynamic as I thought it would be.

@@hatoraidcowboy yea, it’s a bit annoying. BEQ helps if you are willing to go that route. I’ll use it on mixes that lack that good LFE and it usually adds it back in. But be nice if I didn’t have to.
