Sick mod man. Always replayed checkpoints to save these guys and always wanted more marines like we got in the CE days, in the later games. But sadly they were an afterthought and did much of nothing in battle after CE. Now I get to reexperience all parts of this game with the marine homies.

A quick note about the MGS music during the stealth section for those who care. It's still techincally there but due to some map compilation weirdness it doesn't play. Long story short, I had to decide between working HUD messages or the music and I choose the HUD messages since it's more imperative to the whole experience.

It has always bothered me that Silent Cartographer starts out with this big battle as you and your marines land right in the thick of a heavily defended covenant post, and beating it, they just stand around. They do nothing. You can grab a couple to come along in your warthog, but the rest just loaf around with no purpose.

In retail you need to transport all off them with the warthog to the front of the control room, so they can make a premiere..

imagine if this and the second mission halo had banshees and wraiths to fight? I'd assume that for halo it would've been overwhelming and also be too early to fight one, but there's so much space you could fit a few wraiths and ghosts in that middle area

Be cool if this mod evolved to make the chief into just a marine; be a fun challenge having to rely more on your allied marines in every encounter. More health packs would likely be needed in the levels.

You know, if there are no extra Marines added to the latter half of the game (343 Guilty Spark and onwards) it would make the flood parts of a game even more of a stark contrast.

Pains me to see it's only 1 level. If the rest of the game was like this (within reason, I don't expect this many marines on C10 for example), then I'd thoroughly enjoy halo CE again.

you forgot the part where you first go down the structure and they arre closing the doors and they run behind the door as its shutting leaving one grunt locked out and it panics and jumps over the edge commiting suicide
