What do you think about the different zoning ideas proposed in this video? And what would you like to see in future content? Let me know below ⬇ Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to check out this video I really appreciate it! Happy Building EH

CS2 is unpolished and missing some useful things, but the bones of a great game are there. I’ve restarted different cities like 4 times trying to wrap my head around mechanics and how I want to build. Slowly figuring it out. I’ve adopted a new habit of creating separate areas based around those chunky assets each with their own sized grids and layouts, really helped break up the bland monotonous grids I did in CS1. Wish there were better ways to work with those awkward spaces but Trees will serve fine for now.

I entirely agree: as someone who only played CS1 unmodded, CS2 is such a step up in _potential_ compared to the original a lot of the complaints about the game (other than the genuinely botched optimization that's already getting better) sound more like nitpicking from folks who expected CS2 to have _everything_ from CS1+expansions+mods from launch. Like yourself I'm still learning what the game is capable of and it's leagues better than CS1 vanilla. The only feature I genuinely miss, that feels like an oversight not to include, is being able to toggle zoning squares when you build a road. That was such a quality of life improvement in CS1 I was genuinely surprised it wasn't included in CS2 on launch. Seems an easy feature to put in an update so I assume it's only a matter of time. Genuinely my only real complaint about the game so far.

What's helped me a lot with pacing is not unlocking and placing down every service building right away. Focus on zoning your demand and add services only when not having them starts to really hurt

In dev mode you can stretch the plot of a bulding into the trianglar space. So I have high hopes that some mod will just do that automatic. Effectivly removing them

I’ve said this in another comment section. I would love to see jerseys berries and guard rails. With the dirt roads it would be nice if they could fade out of a two lane road to narrow road. Fade from asphalt to dirt would look more realistic.

I love cs2 already lot more then 1, so much depth. Btw I find those big assets very realistic in size, just walk around city, you can find such big buildings. Especially factories can be as big as normal village

I think for me so far it's just the schools that feel a bit off but I will say I think it's also a bias based on where we live like for Vancouver the schools feel so small here so I think that played a factor BUT they are growing on me haha and I completely agree except for Nostalgia I just don't know if I will return to cs 1

I mean, Cities 1 took years and years and years to get all of that. If you're comparing it to a game that was supported for 10+ years then, yeah, it doesn't have as much content. But the content that is there is great.

I'm liking your redesign of the city with the zoning changes. I have to agree that the risk of using the devtools is not worth it at this time. It does show that everything we need is in the game just awaiting to be unlocked with mods. I like the footprint of the new schools. The only problem I have is the building models are out of place unless placed in a large city. To me the schools in CS1 were way too small. Of course most creators would create a campus around the main building. Will be interesting to see what the modding community can do creating modular assets.
@canadianmooseplays

Thank you so much! And that's a great way to describe the schools. Amazing assets for big cities that look out of place in most small builds. Honestly I am so excited to see this game in a year from now and see what people have created. I feel like cities 2 has such a bright promising future!
@Greybell
@Greybell 11 ай бұрын
they should make educational buildings truly modular instead of just adding extra wings but the asset still retains the initial size. I prefer CS1 smaller scale of buildings, and there's always another option for a bigger school if you choose to.

I started playing with smaller zones yesterday, myself, and I really love the results and variety I get (including, in one neighborhood that was low land value at the time, basically a trailer park). I'm spending a LOT more time with the marquee tool than the paint-all tool in this game than I ever did in C:S 1, because there just wasn't the same range of effects. C:S 1 had a lot of buildings that were small but tall; C:S 2, the standard assets at least seem to be very proprotional, so you can basically keep your density modest until you're ready for towers, and I love that.

I really enjoy C:S2. It does a lot of things right and is a good sequel to the original. There are issues for sure and I am hoping that CO doesn't rely solely on mods to correct them. Like why didn't they include the Parks & Promenades features? Or a lot of the other DLC's? I guess to make more money on future DLC. I don't really find the performance issues all that severe, though my cities haven't got very big. And I'm not an FPS snob, so anything over 30 frames is "sufficient" to me. But if I owned a 4K Beast PC I'd be a little chapped that it runs like a lukewarm turd. Of course I still suffer from the same illness that afflicted me in C:S1. Constantly restarting my cities 😩

I like this game better then CS1. The scaling are good, it is easier to get more realism in this game then CS1. Realism thati have to achieve with mod in CS1, can be achieved with this game easily, unmodded. Also the region theme is so good. Can't wait for more DLCs and more region/theme pack.

Honestly the thing I wanted the most out of CS 2 was the liberty too build cities with different settings than that of American cities, and they did little to nothing for that sake. I'm playing it but really, I don't think it deserves to be called CS 2. It is mostly CS with some mods and better graphics and worse stuttering.

Cool Vid... keep them up. I'm loving CS2 and just uninstalled my bloated CS1 which had even poorer FPS. I really like making residential areas with the gravel roads. I would like to see more road types, small roads with asphalt would be great (NA style). Game needs a lot of tweaks and I anticipate Devs will have some great updates... being able to undo terrain changes is up on my wish list. Hope you feel better... I've had the "C" twice and possibly a third time. Sucks. But meh... sleep, hydrate, and play.

I can agree with the latter parts of your message. I set out with a goal of using my bike for as many things as I could this year and it's been amazing and I have been able to almost completely stop using my car and I would LOVE to implement the infrastructure from Vancouver that allows me to do that in the game. I was really bummed we got only one pedestrian path and no bikes and I completely relate to your last sentence as well it is one of the big reasons why I play with unlimited money. I won't rule out turning money on in the future but I find it constrains me to much and doesn't give me the freedom to really experiment the way I would like to.

Title should have been how to start a soulfull, eyecatching beautiful, thoughtful, American town in cities skylines II. I mean seriously. A beautiful bridge right through the downtown area and 2 on an off ramps with trees right there in the city center? Doesn't get more aestheticaly American than that. A stroad is a large road that is being mis used as a street with many driveways and intersections. You built a road through your suburb, you built a stroad through your downtown. If you run your suburbs _along_ your road (instead of running them perpendicular) that will minimize the number of intersections and you'll get better traffic.
