Although this might be the best and more "durable" solution, there is no need to change the switch at all. Just open the trackball, clean everything inside (blow some compressed air or use a soft brush) and then add a tiny drop of lubricant to the button at the top of each switch. This simple fix will do it. My M570 is just like new after doing this.

Some have suggested leaving the ribbon attached. It is possible but I wouldn't recommend. I did the button fix on 3 of these. On the first one I left the ribbon attached. The board didn't want to lie flat with the socket flopping about, making it difficult to get the proper angle when soldering. I also felt it was endangering the ribbon - as you see in the video, one crease and it's trash! Detaching the ribbon on the next 2 made it a lot easier. The ribbon clasp isn't the best design. You have to hold it up while removing/inserting the ribbon. If it's even a little down you'll be adding tension, when it's up fully the ribbon slides easily. Hopefully you get the hang of it on your first try. Good luck!

Before you change the switches with time-consuming soldering work, give them another chance with contact spray. A quick spray and then a few quick clicks before the creeping solution has evaporated. Worked wonderfully for me!

Someone in comments on other You Tube video mentioned that the original switch,Omron D2FC-F-7N is a Chinese one and not reliable.Suggested replacing with Japan made switch,Omron D2F-01F.Checking Ebay for both part numbers,shows the Chinese version selling for less than .10 each,while the best price for the Japanese is about $2.50 and it shows that they use gold contacts in the Japanese version.

Don't bother, they will all go bad in couple of months. I have like 5 years of experience with changing these Chinese and Japanese one. All companies are going bad with quality to maximize profits.

LOL. See other comments! Why is everybody replacing these switches in these videos?! Spray a little electrical contact cleaner or WD40 on the switch. I wiped mine down with alcohol first, then used contact cleaner. It's as good as new!

They have good design, but ABSOLUTELY CRAPPY BUILD QUALITY. Every one of them has button switches designed to fail, to make you buy a new one.

I'm having the same problem with my M750. I'm not the worlds best at soldering and desoldering, so I'm reluctant to try that. I liked the mouse too, but if they are having this problem commonly, I guess I won't be buying another one of that model to replace it. I've gone back to my trusty T-BC21 aka Marble Mouse in the meantime. I love the Marble Mouse except that it doesn't have a scroll wheel. It's annoying to have to set one of the two little buttons on it as a scroll lock in order to scroll in games, and to have to click on the scroll bar in programs and hold the left mouse button down to scroll. But, at east the buttons on this much older mouse than the M570 still work.

Try opening the M570 up, cleaning it out, and spraying contact cleaner on the switches. It seemed to work for me and others, although potentially only temporarily.

No need to remove the ribbon cable. Just remove the PCB and let the black ball socket dangle.

Happen to my mouse as well. Rather than buying a new switch and soldering tools, I just flip flop the mouse settings to where the right button is now the default left button. Hopefully I can get a few years out of this one before having to buy a new mouse.

If you own a soldering iron, replacing it is a no-brainer. The switches are a dollar a piece on amazon. Better than struggling with inverting the clicks.

These trackballs come with a 2yr warranty, i have 4 of them and have had 2 of them replaced for free under warranty. Logitech never asked for the faulty ones to be returned so i decided to fix the broken ones myself. I managed to get 1 of them working again but i killed the other one by lifting the pad from the circuit board when i was de-soldering the switch.
@innovational
@innovational 6 жыл бұрын
You must use them quite a lot to have 2 die within two years. Good warranty from Logitech though. The fact that I've never had any mouse switch die on me shows that the M570 is using substandard parts. Anyway, I am using the MX Ergo now, hopefully it lasts longer. Check out my new video reviewing that trackball.

iNNovational I’ve used them for the past 10 years, the first one being the wired model with the red ball. I do use them a lot for work. The first one replaced lasted 18 months, the second replaced was after only 9 months. My other m570 is out of warranty now but I will try to repair it when it dies the same way.

My Ergo is now making a "hollow"sound when I left click, is that what you experienced before it failed?
@kristfur
@kristfur 4 жыл бұрын
@@innovational Not sure about the sound. But I did fix the problem. I watched a couple more youtubes after this one. Instead of replacing the sensor, they recommend blowing it out with compressed air. The real problem is dirt getting into the sensor, not the sensor failing. You'll still have to take apart the mouse, but blow air on the sensor from every direction, and it will fix this issue. It worked on 2 of my MX ergos. Hope it works for you too.

Don't waste money and time repairing this mouse, it's not bad button issue. I repaired as shown in video but the problem persists. The problem is more severe under Windows than under Linux, maybe it's driver issue or planned obsolescence through bad driver pushed for older mouse rendering them with this problem. Linux uses non-Logitech driver thus no problem.

@@tobcyxob8256 I have changed these switches a couple of times. The original switch comes from the manufacturer last one to several years and one that I got from digikey of same model and soldered last only couple of months. It is really a shame that a 50-80 bucks mouse goes bad in 1 to 2 years, even in normal use as I never do any gaming or that sort of work. Life of 10 buck wired mouse is at par or better than those expensive one.. Why the hell they can't put better hardware if they are extracting more money from me? It angers me beyond any limit.
