I used to approach relationships like this when i was younger. Give my all, sacrifice who i was, do everything and anything to make a partner happy even at my expense. I thought if i show them how much i care, they will also care and not hurt me. When they did, i would flip out, " how dare yiu do this to me after everything i did for you". I know better. Love is a two way street, and if a person doesn't want to be with you, let them go, no matter how painful. Everyone deserves to be with someone who wants to be with them.

Linda made herself very available to Dan. If she hadn't, he definitely would have found a different woman - in the company cafeteria, at a law library, restaurant, professional associations- anywhere. Linda was just convenient. There's no way to see past the six months they were married, after a few kids, he would probably have cheated on Linda after she wasn't exciting anymore and just home with kids. They absolutely shouldn't have been shot, no question Betty went nuts. But as a woman who turned her single life around as an older woman, moved to a strange place and married an older man who after less than a year, divorced me- for small arguments, I think Linda was Dan's rebound- as I was after his 40 yr marriage. Linda was just right there in his office and willing when she could sniff out trouble at home with Betty. The "Linda type" always listens to what the man complains about then does the complete opposite. Like "oh, she does THIS to you, I would NEVER, I would do THAT. If he complains his wife hates sports, the coniving rebound will read everything about his sport, and wear a cap with his team's name on it. If she doesn't cook, well then, rebound will cook him gourmet meals then service him in bed. If he complains she doesn't like his friends or family, rebound lady will cozy up to them. There was a song years ago called "the cleanup woman." Then rebound lady gets cheated on too. My ex often text msgs me, sending videos. I'm sure wifey doesn't know he's texting me. Of course, I can block him, but it massages my ego to know that he's doing the same thing to my replacement. Nasty. Dan was not a good man- no commitment, and Linda was an opportunist.

Yes, Linda was a gold digger and she carried on for about EIGHT YEARS with a married man, not exactly wonderful behavior by any standard. If my daughter had been doing that I would have done everything to talk her out of it. TO BE honest, ALL three of the so called adults in this case were selfish, in love with money and status and NONE OF THEM GAVE much thought to the four children caught in the middle of all their nonsense. VERY sad

You should not judge her so harshly from an ivory tower unless you have been there! At 63, 20 year marriage, my husband just divorced me & I lost everything, marriage, home, family, job, money, retirement, my mind really. It’s been horrible! Murder is not okay, she is guilty & far from left high & dry. She deserves to go to prison, yes. But have a little compassion, people. Still, it was her emotions that did this, right or wrong, they ate her up! Just, please, don’t sound like you’re so much better than her unless you have experienced something that horrendous.

Amen to that! The Broderick divorce was a terrible one that had people talking. But Betty SHOULD have bowed out. I doubt Dan's marriage to the much younger wife would have endured. In any case, anything would have been better than the awful end. He was horrible to her; few have denied that. But no one but God Himself has the right to take life. The young wife also provoked Betty badly and cruelly. I wish she'd made better choices. NEVER get into someone else's marriage. Much more than that, NEVER elect to take revenge. If someone doesn't want to be with you, you must let them go. Despite how much it may hurt. Betty was still young; she would have remarried. And her children would have been immeasurably better off. This is such a complex story. If you liked this movie youll probably enjoy watching the Betty Brodrick movie that Netflix made called "Dirty John" staring Amanda Pete as Betty and Christian Slater as Dan Broderick. It really goes in depth about how much Betty worked to support Dan and their small children in their young years, Bettys difficult pregnancies due to working to put Dan through school twice, and his unthoughtful mistreatment of Betty. It gives you a better understanding of Betty's mental health decline.

Having watched a great deal of the trial, the actress actually put on a better case than the prosecuting attorney. There’s simply no way two murders should have produced a hung jury. Anyone defending Betty, essentially blaming Dan, know this: The diagnosis of any psychopathy, clinical narcissism (we now know) involves psychological and emotional abuse to the MATE. Her murderous entitled outrageous endeavors didn’t begin with Dan’s new bride. We can’t hear his stories of daily hardship living with a psychopath. Nothing less than spousal abuse. She is a heartless animal that should never see daylight. Consider for a moment how many marriages end amicably, co-parenting with grace for the children. Her intent all along was murder alone.
@alessiaqueen6445
@alessiaqueen6445 11 ай бұрын
I'm sorry I disagree with your statement that she's a psychopath Dan and Linda should have not been murdered and she should have been acquitted she was a found acquitted she never should have been charged twice OJ Simpson was well known that he killed Nicole Brown and her friend yeah he was acquitted at least Betty admitted that she shot Dan and Linda psychopath but if she's a psychopath and what is Dan and Linda use their abuser and then as she got older he wanted someone younger and I believe that because linda looks like who Betty did Betty act like an adult know but what would you do if you spouse was a high-profile turning for the city of California and you have nowhere to turn because there's no attorney that would take you because of your powerful ex-husband that is an attorney you worked your whole life taking care of your spouse and taking care of your children and making sure they have a very education and sports whatever these kids wanted to do and you find the house you decorate the house you make your whole entire life as he's being an attorney you're giving His Image right off the bat he ends up having to make crisis and he basically felt that Betty was less than he was but she was also going to college the same time he was going to college and she was still working he wasn't but she was and she had kids so you're going to tell me she's a psychopath no you're wrong and if I would have been on the secondary I still would have acquitted her because I believe Dan abused Betty after he did he got successful he didn't want an older looking wife I'm sorry I believe that to the hardest car but daddy did not act as she should have I agree with that in front of her children as far as the conduct between her and Linda they're both grown adults Linda ends up working for his so-called secretary yeah he was she ended up being his secretary all right you got that much straight so they were obviously sleeping together before they even got married and probably more than likely before even Dan and Linda were divorced so what does that make them yeah you may seem the name hard-coded and I don't care that they both lost their life but Daddy lost her life from when she married then and now she's still paying for his life because she's in prison Dan and Linda is still serving hell because of her ex-husband you're not in her shoes you don't know what it's like to do this for somebody and then have the whole entire world slipped out from underneath you you think it was about the money I disagree I think she actually truly wanted her family back as one and she wanted Linda who was what 1821 at the time when they got married I believe Linda was only two years older than his oldest daughter don't you find that a little sickening I do let's talk about the children did you know that one of the children is out of Dan's will why because he sighted with her mother so what does that tell you he's controlling the whole entire family with money just the same as he did with Betty he was a high profile attorney for the State of California and daddy could not get no justice that much is true they only downfall that Betty did what you put out her story was that it hurt her if she would have kept quiet I guarantee you she would have gotten the second acquittal is this day and age I guarantee you she never would have served other than the time she served because it is true there is fossil abuse that are narcissists and I'm sorry Dan was a narcissist and Linda seen the money seen the power and she wanted it that is where Betty should have been even if the marriage didn't make it Linda was way too young to be involved in this but she wanted the money so that even she gets involved according to the story and goes and gets the wedding list so is she not also poking and stabbing her yeah that you all know everybody everyone knows is stabbing a dogging and the other spouse let's go up a little bit okay I'm not making excuses for the fact that she committed murder whatsoever there are people that have committed multi murders more than one more than two more than three and they're getting out 1530 years she just killed two people and she's going to have to serve her whole entire life she's Let Her Go becoming a successful person and she still taking care of him even though he's gone they're both deceased I understand that but she still paying the price for Dan that's what I believe she's done her time she's been up twice for parole Let Her Go choose 80 years old what's she going to do what's she going to do if I was on the parole board I would release Betty let's beat the clock waiting for all the old judges and attorneys to get out of there so that they can release her she needs to be released millions and millions and millions of murderers have been released during the pandemic in California was one of the highest states that released more murders back into society but they cannot release Betty why is that because she still worth millions in California ain't got enough millions of the residents so they got to get some more let it go get real California get real why didn't you convict OJ we all know he killed Nicole and Mr Brown so you know you kind of got things a little wrong they're California and as a matter of fact isn't it funny after he gets acquitted they never try him but they do Betty ask yourself why I keep telling you it's because her ex-spouse Dan was an attorney she did not get her Fair Shake I'm not talking about the money her justice but what do you expect of a California hey it's California good luck with all the immigrants coming illegal immigrants pardon my statement their yeah and thanks to you morons are even here in my state and their poor more in the Chicago you So called ‘rantings’ make perfect sense! Read it again. Probably not if the reader had a prejudged decision & a cookie cutter reaction to any murder. Murder absolutely is wrong. However having an opinion that is real, looking beyond Betty is obviously the only ‘bad’ narcissistic psychopath monster here, is terrible judge mental unless you’re in her shoes. What happened to her, what that meant to her, was devastating because it was her life. Another young pretty woman waltzing into your husbands office, then his marriage, had to be painful & cut away at her self worth, self esteem, further confirming her idea of she’s old, ugly, unwanted. Acting with that mindset & the heartbreak she had, can bring out awful, ugly acts without thinking thru consequences. That’s not saying she was right to shoot Dan & his replacement wife. But it should allow the viewer to look at this situation with a much wider lens than simply an attitude such as looking down on her because you’re better & never would. Don’t say never unless you’ve been tested in the exact way and your reaction was thoroughly saint like and admirable. Insanity in love matters, can cause a normally rational‘good’ person to lose it. That is why there’s a defense of ‘crime if passion’! Way different than a murder during robbery or rape, serial killers or hate crimes. If somebody dissects a case like this & sees things from views unlike yours, does not mean they are saying, we agree with murder, they deserved to die, who cares about the kids! No, but it seems that is what is immediately assumed with the finger pointing at a person you judge incorrectly.

Most of what ailed Betty & Dan Broderick's marriage was done with complicit agreement between them before he ever met Linda. How Betty dealt with that situation, and the fact Dan was able to do those things to her without apology or change in behavior after the children arrived is what alienated him from her; and from there, it was just a matter of time. If a man is the single source of income, which Dan was after a certain point, he is going to have the upper hand in decision making for the marriage and when it comes to divorce. Betty was of course not his equal, but in her mind the early days when she supported the family while Dan had a worry free life as a student made them equals after he was a high powered attorney, but it wasn't really so. She knew of Dan's reputation as a good attorney and started adopting some of his arrogant qualities herself. Unfortunately, powerful men do not appreciate that type of behavior when they can have a younger, prettier, adoring female looking up to them. The bottom line is, Betty stayed with him and accepted the role they both found to be the easiest path for their marriage. Betty started trying to use the legal system and the media the way she saw it as an outsider looking in, so she could use their marital problems to give a nod to murder as a resolution to her own inability to let go of a marriage that no longer worked at all. It's sad, but nothing from the past warranted murder. Once Betty burned Dan's clothes and started calling on the phone leaving all those awful messages, then slammed her car into his house, that was it, she had lost all control. When she started announcing to her children she was going to kill Dan, that was it. Dan made nothing hell for Betty after the separation, he simply used the proper tools at his disposal and then she did it herself. The legal community is not exactly fair, but they will not put their own careers at risk or improperly turn on each other. Betty did herself no favors with her supposed sarcastic "wit" that was so blaringly out of place as evidenced in this movie. Nothing is funny about what happened. People's lives are not fodder for gossip. Dan really probably had nothing to do with other attorneys not wanting to take her case, and from there, she made everything easier in the courtroom for Dan. To his defense, no one should have to take what she was doing to him. Betty Broderick should never get out of prison for what she did. She cannot love her children very much to do anything like what she did. Those poor kids.

A man that truly loves their kids, will also do EVERYTHING possible to love and get help with his marriage by going to counseling and even if she had some issues, get the help and NOT remarry that other woman, who clearly had no respect for marriage. Linda took a man that was not hers, this drove Betty crazy. The vows are for better or worse, when they get like that in a marriage, you are to do EVERYTHING to keep your family in tact. So many people backed Dan up, and even their mutual friends sided with him instead of encouraging him to get counseling and so on. Even the kids were in compliance with the dad and attended the wedding. I would not have gone to the wedding either. No one deserved to die, but this is what happens when there is divorce and subsequent remarriage which by the way is against God. Those two Linda and Dan became adulterers in the sigh of God, and they will give account on judgement day. Betty if she is repented and sorry toward God, she will be forgiven by God.

Betty has been denied parole twice: First in January 2010 and then again seven years later. In January 2017, a two-member panel of California's parole board voted unanimously against releasing her from prison. She'll be 84 years old when she's up for parole again in 2032. She was a homewrecker just as much as Dan. Her anger, bitter, contentious attitude and behavior drove Dan away. She was also a glutton which is a sin in the Bible. Don't look at Linda as the homewrecker look at Betty and Dan. They both destroyed their family. The marriage was over, the home wrecked long before Linda.

Having watched a great deal of the trial, the actress actually put on a better defense than the prosecuting attorney.

When you think about it...what Betty went thru is heartbreaking. Sure, it isn't right to kill - thou shall not kill - but look at how hard this woman worked to keep her family together working more than one job, keeping Dan's house clean and was a soccer mom. She scrimped and saved all while Dan obtained his degree so, then - After all of Betty's hard work...what does Dan do? He sets his sight upon a much younger woman...divorces Betty...marries the office-tramp...AND THEN THE TRAMP ASSUMES BETTY'S LIFE, BETTY'S FRIENDS - moving into Betty's life! How was betty supposed to feel? Betty was there thru thick and thin times and how is she repaid? Dan and his strumpet had the audacity to call Betty nasty names like 'beast' and other denigrating labels! Dan becomes a millionaire - then ditches Betty! This was as wrong as two left shoes!
