Thanks for this interesting info. Songplugger. The costumes are indeed fabulous and many of them cost an arm and a leg. Everything had to be perfect, every tiniest detail out of place showed up on the large screen. These designers and creators were the very best. I was an extra in the DaVinci Code film and every morning we were lined up for the director and producers to examine our costumes.......even the tiniest bit of fluff or crease was noticed and dealt with. I don't think people stop and think how many hours of expertise and dedication went into the making of these wonderful musicals.

The gorgeous Helen Rose costumes in CONEY ISLAND (and HELLO, FRISCO, HELLO with Alice Faye) caught the eye of Louis B. Mayer who hired Rose away to MGM. When Rose was assigned to dress Judy Garland and Angela Lansbury n THE HARVEY GIRLS, (1945) Mayer instructed Rose to copy the look of these two Fox films as much as possible.
