Grable was the greatest! The very first movie star I fell in love with, she transmitted something special from the silver screen that's for sure! Thanks so much for posting this sassy number from Wabash Avenue, a wonderful remake of Coney Island. Betty Grable was such a big star, only two others I can think of remade their own movies: Garbo and Gable. The Three Gs. Great big stars, we'll never see their likes again.

She's absolutely perfect!! Her body moves seamlessly with the rhythm. I think she's the overall best all-time quadruple threat--gorgeous face and body, very good pop voice, fantastic dancer, and good actor!! Others were stronger in one area, but Betty had it all. I'm a 74 yo retired female RN who would have definitely have rather been a Betty Grable❣

People forget how a big star she was. For ten years top of box office. Never repeated..

Betty was a very talented actress. Versatile and gorgeous and always lit up the FOX screen in all her movies with her singing and dancing.

My father played the bass sax in this video. I've been looking for this movie and dearly hope it's being restored to HD. Does anyone know if it's going to be available soon? Thanks MinstrelSurfer, it's a real treat.

She is dancing with Billy Daniel, the film's choreographer. Grable's "side bumps" got all this past the censors of the day.

His name was actually Daniels, but often, he was incorrectly credited as Daniel, as he was in this movie. His longtime relationship with director Mitchel Leisen ended around the time of "Wabash Avenue," and many blamed Daniels for Leisen's career decline.

Jery Tillotson ..... This is one of my favourite routines. I agree. It is very sexy, especially for those times. Thank goodness the censor was asleep! I love it! Super-sensual choreography..... 😜

The trumpet player is Red Nichols--is this his regular band?

Wasn't that noted choreographer Charles (Chuck) Walters as her dance partner? He coached and sometimes partnered many Hollywood leading ladies when they needed to dance in their films, like Joan Crawford in 'Torch Song' (1953).

Betty Grable was 5'-4". Her partner is wearing heeled shoes (probably with lifts as well) and is barely taller than her - with his hat.
