That happened to me too, a Kenyan guy came to check my AC he messed up the electrical wiring so terribly that no one knew how to rectify the issue. I ended up installing a whole brand new AC with a registered USA AC company, never allow a fake Kenyan technicians to touch my AC again. Cheap isn't always cheap.

I learned my lesson, went through the same but not with him. I called 3 companies they refused to do the job because what was left was a total mess and they said they won't take responsibility. The 4th company did the work sema the whole day almost to midnight because when i say a mess was a total disaster, they had to replace wiring again and re-do the fan installation again . They begged me to say who it was that they report him to have his license revoked but i refused. But ndekunyire matu ngiturikia never again , i better pay expensive than having tutikuriganwo 😂.

Sorry Betty. I was conned by a guy called Ali, I think an Arab/ Indian here in NY. He was recommended by a family member. He is a mechanic and charged me $2,400. He gave me a receipt of all the things he fixed. My car has a funny sound when going uphill. I don't know what he did, or whether he even fixed anything. I tried to go back in October to get an inspection sticker, found he had vacated. And he never answers his phone. Karma wil get him.

Some Kenyans con other Kenyans in the USA especially when you're new so be careful. Better use a registered USA company that has a registered license so you can go after them if something goes wrong. But not all Kenyans are scammers.

I had two similar experiences with some kenyans Betty some years back. I had a guy who charged $300 to fix brakes and in about two days the car had the same problems and i had to go to an american to fix the brakes where i paid another $400. In another incident I was looking for a roommate so this kenyan lady sent me a guy she had evicted from her place for non payment of rent only for the guy not pay rent. I had to figure out a way of evicting him without confrontation, so sometimes never trust people, do some due diligence on these people.

Betty with electricals, that is heath and safety, I guess it will be in your favour, meanwhile you have the evidence, he has a company he will be charged and you will be compensated for damages, the fridge, worry with family in house I mean that mess needs to be sorted imagine if you were to sell the property, you will need it certificated. Not him , his or insurance will pay for your damages and also certify your electricals are safe, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake him. Also check with your home building insurance may take over the case for you.

Look, the lesson here is "you get what you pay for." Cheaper without having a professional expert doing the work can be RISKY, especially, for plumbing, electrical, appliances, etc. Some jobs just need professional expert attention for the price you pay. But, you can still find deals from experts that do work on the side after their full-time job through Craigslist Services, etc. I've had a few knuckleheads in the past, but some good and satisfactory work too. Always ask questions and interview them over the phone about their expertise, knowledge, and experience, prior to coming out to do work. Yeah, finding good home services repair workers can be a nightmare sometimes, unfortunately.

I got a cleaner from kenya to deep cleqn my home when i first bought it. Wueeee, he charged me 200 more coz he cleaned my shed outside and i asked the girls to do more work. I never asked him to clean the shed, for the girls i just pointed out places that were not done right and made them repeat the spots. I didnt pay him. He called and left me threatening texts but i told myself....i will not entertain bad business. I need to anika him one day.
