First comment but have watched your KZbin videos for a very long time. I love your honesty and willingness to talk about the psychological challenges (i.e. doing commissioned work). As a psychotherapist, although I'm not an art therapist per se, I often will ask my clients to sketch, 8.5x11 paper and #2 pencil without thought, simply allowing the hands to mark freely. It's the beginning of awareness for so many people of what they're feeling. Thank you again, you're a gifted teacher, amazing artist, and wonderful human 💖

Love this Betty! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge so generously. Whenever I begin to give up on this painting journey you seem to put up a video that truly inspires me. Î’ve been struggling with a commission and feeling EXACTLY how you describe feeling! Your words really helped! I absolutely love your happy colour puces, but I have to say I love this piece just as much! I love how you describe your thought process in so much detail. I am pretty new to abstract work and lose my footing frequently. Your descriptions really help to ground me in the process. You are a wonderful teacher!

Hi Betty! Love love love! So inspirational and informative. You briefly mentioned painting palette. I recently learned to create a diy glass palette that i love. I was so surprised when I saw the colours but knew it was yours straight away! Great to watch this developing from beginning to the finale and always interesting to hear your process. I read quite a lot of comments and was struck by one in particular. It's not something I dwell on too much, but I too grew up with a deal of negativity. I do find myself leaning towards bright colours and I'm semi- conscious of this when I pick out colours. I'm aware of my feelings when I look at what I've created and where I could paint dark (as it's somewhere inside me) I believe it makes me definitely steer away from going there. I hope this makes sense.

I've watched all of your videos and to my surprise this is now my new favorite! Usually not a fan of grays but the way you mixed grays, greens and blues is so pretty. Favorite section is Blue in bottom left and top left corner. Very calming. You're so great at putting your colors together. Just when I was about to put up the paints, you've inspired me to try again! Lucky cousin! 🎨 🙂

I absolutely adore COLOUR...have done commissions, in subdued naturals....gave me anxiety, so i eventually stopped taking commissions, and got my spark and spontaneity back ,thankfully. !!!! It is the use of great colour which spurs me on. For 30 years i supplied scarves, silk and cotton and huge silk shawls, throughout NZ. Plus a line of paintings, quite zany and mostly abstract. But i have had about a 3 year break, i fell apart with the tyrannical government who were trying to control us due to COVID. I rebelled against control, it has not been a good time. .....And now i am full of designs and eager to start painting. I saw you do 2 small canvases which were same colours and complemented each other....they were so bright and happy and i rushed out and bought supplies.. Thankyou Betty, love Gabby M

I love this one. I see a lake with waterfalls. You really inspire me. I am on a wait list to move and I am doing a cleaning up and getting rid of a lot of stuff. I hope to get moved soon but it all depends on how long others are on list. I am moving to a small city that is an artist heaven. Great community.. I am working on a wooden box and it has been fun. God bless you.

This is one of my more favorites Betty. Maybe because (to answer your question) I create with neutral colors so I guess I’m biased. Either way very nicely done, and wonderful to see another “grey one”.

Hello! I just discovered you through this video. This was wonderful to watch, but I also really liked your commentary. I love how you described your "intuitive art" process. I'm finding my artwork is going more in that direction, and I often find it difficult to answer viewers questions, such as, "How did you do that? What made you use those colours?, etc." My response is always "I don't know, I just did it!" So this was really nice to hear/see what this process is like. I love how the painting turned out; it worked so well in the space it was hung. I do LOVE your more colourful work, so I will definitely be following you on your socials. Thank you for producing such happy and honest creations!

Thank you for your kind words, Julie! One thing I love about folks asking me question about my art is that it forces (in a good way) to look more deeply into me and my art and my process. I begin to better understand myself and why I create the way I do. Thank you for watching this video and for discovering my KZbin channel! Welcome!

I love this painting - I could see your struggle in some places - you are so used to working with bright colours..... however, you completely nailed it! Love the muted colours - I actually love anything you paint! Cheers, Deb (NZ)

I use Custom cut glass. The price is very reasonable. To cover your entire table, have 2 pieces cut for ease of use. One piece is longer than the second so I don't have a seem right in the middle.
