I never thought it possible to both understand a subject and be completely confused by it at the same time... and then I took Research Methods in Psychology. Thank you for making it a tiny bit less confusing.

Yea agreed. My lectures are unnecessarily overcomplicated. Explain it in the most simple terms and allow me to formulate more complex scenarios myself to expand my own understanding

Utilizing a "control" group does not necessarily mean it's within, right? If you're comparing the outcomes from one group to a control group, that would still be between, correct? For the example with the lung capacity, seeing how effective the drug is, and over time... If it were to be seen if it was effective at all, wouldn't that be between? You're comparing A and B, drug and no drug, to see which is different. In a way, isn't it like comparing the heavy, light, and non-smokers as explicitly shown in the "between" example?

That's right, she is giving a "mixed design" example, not a within-subjects design.

Hi, may I ask you? It is possible to have pretest-posttest design as part of the within subject design? It does not exclude it? Or it is already between subject design? My plan is to have experimental group (50 people), which get treatment, and control group (50 people), which does not get treatment. My intention is to see the influence of the treatment. Thank you for your response.
