Daniel Briggs is undoubtedly the unsung hero of BTBAM. Just listen to those bass lines. They could release Colors but it's just Dan's bass lines and I'd buy it and listen to it.

They totally leveled up as a band when he came onboard. Not saying that was solely his doing, but it is undoubtedly related.

He's also super important in the composition process, he wrote by hismelf Goodbye to everything, Astral Body and Bloom on TP2, and he directed the orchestral parts. He is actually the only member with a music degree which may help on that regard

Paul hit the nail on the head as to why I love metal and more underground genres. There are no rules. You're not gonna get played on the radio. You're not gonna get rich playing metal. So you might as well do whatever you want. That's beautiful

These guys are living legends. I would argue the kings of prog metal right now, for sure. I dont know too many bands who can release banger after banger, experimenting along the way, but somehow still preserving their roots. Anyway...they fucking rule. That is all, haha.

27:35 - goddamn right, and listened to hundreds of times. Been a fan of these guys since 2004 and love pretty much all of their work; the self-titled will always have a special place in my heart. The pull quote from the sticker on the CD was something like 'breakdowns slower than donut crumbs tumbling off a Southern sheriff's mustache'. How could one not give it a shot?

I know they say they're just too old to be playing as fast as they used to, but I hate how that happens with all bands as they age. For me, composition is more important than speed, but I just don't want this lack of motivation to leak into their compositions.
@travistaylor72094 жыл бұрын
Justin K I doubt it will. I think they mean they place more emphasis on what serves the song rather than playing fast just to do it like some people do.

im comin up on 50 soon and hell playing as fast as ever as ive never stopped practicing.
