Colors is BTBAM's best album for sure, but every BTBAM album, starting from the self-titled debut to Parallax II, is just immensely great. This band is flawless.

They're the future of metal music! And they are still very young, more good music to come!

I discovered them since a week, I wasn't expecting such a... masterpiece when I listened to Colors. I remember the same thing happened when I discovered Machine Head, and listened to The Blackening

The Great Misdirect is my favorite album of theirs but Colors is just barely underneath it. This band changed the way I think about music and life in general. They inspired me to practice guitar harder than I ever did before in the hopes that one fucking day I'll be on this kind of level. Between the Buried and Me are one of the greatest bands to ever be part of the craft and Colors will absolutely stand the test of time as a juggernaut of progressive musicality.

I don't have a clue how I found this album, but a single listen was enough to make this one of my favorite albums of all time.

I hated this album when it first came out, but now 9 years later, I fucking LOVE IT. I get it now, why people have been saying this is BTBAM's best album. I can't stop listening to it, and I've been listening to it as one piece of music from start to finish, and realized that I haven't heard anything like this. I view the album as 1 incredible and incredibly long song and the ending of White Walls..... THE LAST 5 MINUTES OF THAT SONG ARE MIND-BLOWING!

Cole Jordan I have the same impression as the best, I've been listening to them since the blind circus era but I totally dig this with the latest coma album

White Walls is such a great finale, and especially that final 3 minutes of superb guitar work

100th like! I agree with what you said though for the most part: it's their best record and White Walls is just BTBAM's magnum opus...magnificent song. I disagree with Prequel to the Sequel though - it's probably my second favourite track after White Walls. I still remember the first time I heard that intro and was completely mesmerized
@GetFuckingAngry10 жыл бұрын
i thought prequel to sequel was on par with white walls musically

There were a lot of great metal albums that released in 2007; Demon Hunter's "Storm The Gates Of Hell", August Burns Red's "Messengers", The Devil Wears Prada's "Plagues", As I Lay Dying's "An Ocean Between Us", and even including BTBAM's "Colors". Great review!

Since this album debuted a lot has happened. I've gotten older, been through music school, been jettisoned into real life, my musical tastes have expanded, simplified, and expanded again, and I still consider this to be the single greatest album of any musical genre, ever.

Great misdirect is my fav album but I love them all BTBAM is a very imo IMPORTANT band in the metal genre, they are very good at experimentation. They pull off what most bands can't

I personally started with their newest album, Parallax II: Future Sequence. Then I bought Colors and it became my favorite. After several months of listening to both, Future Sequence became my favorite again. Its a LOT better in my opinion. But then I bought Great Misdirect and THAT became my favorite, before Future Sequence took over again. In my opinion, the best three albums are Future Sequence, Great Misdirect, and Colors. Alaska and Silent Circus sound very very different from those three.

I highly disagree about Prequel to the Sequel, it's my favorite track by far. The intro is absolutely incredible and there isn't one moment in the song that isn't amazing.

I started listening when alaska came out. And I loved everything they came out with since. Silent circus is good but without Blake it's different.

Yea it got me hooked, however don't be surprised if you don't gel with it at the start, it took me 6 months to fall in love with the band haha (a few people iv'e talked to have said the same thing also)

I've been getting into this band for about a year or so. Started with Coma and worked my way back. This album is just starting to click with me now but for whatever reason White Walls just isn't my favourite. I love Ants and Sun of Nothing. Pretty much all the songs, but White Walls just isn't doing it for me, at least not yet

Songwriting wise, this was their peak. Becoming overkill with song lengths, experimenting and doing stuff for the sake of doing it, putting wankery over brutality etc...would become very problematic after this record but those golden three.... The silent circus, Alaska, and colors....alone will make them a band no one should ever forget
@IVulgarI11 жыл бұрын
Lol I've done the same thing. All their albums are a little bit different. Colors is probably my favorite though.

Great review, Colors never gets old. The Parallax II is just as great, if not better. Not a great album to start on though. Colors and Alaska for sure

Each album seems like such a different animal entirely. Self Titled: Brutal Metalcore The Silent Circus: Contained Metalcore Alaska: Progressive Metalcore Colors: Progressive Deathmetal The Great Misdirect: Progressive Metal The Parallax Hypersleep Dialogues: Conceptual Progressive Heavy Metal The Parallax 2 Future Sequence: Conceptual Progressive Heavy Rock

you can't compare blood and concrete to white walls. I just listened to blood and concrete for the first time and it was absolutely terrible and no where near btbam's skill level.
@rocksolid7211 жыл бұрын
Don't worry bro, me either. I think it's because everyone is always going on about how they have mastered their instruments and how perfect they are. I saw them live, and wasn't really impressed either. 15 year olds love them
@Ch0c0b011 жыл бұрын
to be honest I'm not a huge fan. Ive given it a few listens and it's just not for me. And about half of The Silent Circus doesnt click with me either.
@IVulgarI11 жыл бұрын
If you were born in 1972, you probably won't "get" btbam. I bet your elders said the same thing about your music. And bullshit they're not impressive. You just don't like them.

I honestly have a great dislike toward this album, almost to the point of hatred. And the reason why is the vocals. I hate Tommy's vocals and the way he sings clean especially. He doesn't enunciate his words, and quite frankly, I've heard brutal death metal singers who sound more coherent when they growl than him.
