I knew a grandmother just like the one in the story and as amazing and beautiful and sexy intelligent and creative as her granddaughter is, she sill feels like Miranda did. Thankfully she became the main character of her story too. Great story. I also enjoy the podcast!

I do not agree. I think you missed the point of the story, which is that people who do suffer from things such as neglect and violence become vulnerable and can be easily victimized. Art is subjective. There is no one right way to end a story.

I think it's a bit closed minded to think all stories need to be alike. I write dark fairy tales. I do not copy the ones that were written by the Brothers Grimm. I do have a happy ending here and there, but I prefer to explore the darker themes.
