Funtastic adventure , great story to watch , three guys taking the initiative , making a difference and helping to make the world a better place, how did you manage with the equipment to film it? Thank you rob
@JonathanRonzio
@JonathanRonzio 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Robert! That was quite the endeavor. We did the mountain with no guides or porters so having the extra film equipment on our backs was certainly tough, and when you're filming, you end up climbing 1 and half times to keep going back for the camera! Haha. Packing was definitely one of the trickiest parts of this journey as we would be on the road for 4-6 months making the film, climbing, traveling, and volunteering in climates ranging from barren deserts to rainforests to beaches to high altitude arctic fun. A little wacky and a lot of stuff! Thanks for taking the time to check out our story!

Big ups on what you did during your travels. I get that the title is BETWEEN Two Peaks, but marketing this as a climbing doc with the thumbnail and the “best doc at an unnamed mountain film festival” is kinda not cool. The editing is really confusing, but pretty good for a first time filmmaker. Keep making films and I’m sure that future endeavors will be much better.

Definitely an inspiring story and cool to see how it has worked its way into many of your other adventures and connecting with athletes in different spheres. Well it seems a shame to leave a negative comment, but it's really not a climbing film. It's strangely edited, shows hardly any footage from Aconcagua, and is full of unexplained jumps from place to place. How are they travelling? Do they ever get to Denali? Why call it Between the Peaks, when they only climb one peak? And it says they won a mountain film festival award, but doesn't say which mountain film festival, which seems odd.

Onz Brau thank you!! Unfortunately not. Limitations of budget and the camera we could get at the time. It’s crazy how fast camera tech exploded and how accessible amazing video quality is today. A drone cost $40,000 when we left for this trip haha. 720p it was. We did have a GoPro that was 1080 which had a whole bunch more mountain footage but that was lost to the ocean in Arica :(

I could go on and on then my ex partner takes my home my money and my children for no reason than to go with somebody who has more cash! Wow! What a breathtaking adventure! This was very interesting to watch. Did you bring your own snow shoes and hiking equipment for Aconcagua as it was one of your first destinations, or did you rent everything? If it was all your gear, what happened to it after the mountain? I guess you didn't take all the way to Guatemala, did you? :D
@JonathanRonzio
@JonathanRonzio 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! We did bring all our own equipment for Aconcagua, yes. After the mountain, we drove back over the pass and back to Santiago, Chile. There we reorganized, made contact with Amy at our first volunteer stop to let her know our status and expected arrival, packed up all our mountaineering gear and shipped it back to the States from a post office there, and then hit the road! After getting stuck in Arica and deciding to sell the truck, we ended up shipping a whole bunch more stuff back from there and going as light as we could the rest of the way, thinking we would grab everything we needed for Denali once we made it back to the US, but of course, that never came to be. (We made it to Denali 5 years later!) Thanks again!

Hey David! There are definitely a few critiques and disses in here, I know cause they always sting :) The only comments that have ever been weeded out are the over the top obscene and vulgar ones that weren't about the film, but attacking the people. Constructive criticism and opinionated feedback is helpful, no tolerance for hate though!

So the story cuts back and forth between climbing Aconcagua and our journey volunteering through the Americas - our original plan was to go from Aconcagua to Denali and capture the story "between the peaks"...what we learned from the countries we visited and organizations we worked with, really as a story about the journey and seeing what matters more than summits. But don't get me wrong, we're all climbers and it was wanting to get to those mountains that sparked the whole thing! We ran out of money in Guatemala but made it to Denali last summer (4 years later)! Sorry this didn't have more climbing for you, but thanks for tuning in either way!

@JonathanRonzio
@JonathanRonzio 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Joanna, not quite! We each saved up about $2,000 over a year of working, I played music at some bars that helped us fundraise around $1,200, we got sponsors to help out with climbing gear and snack food donations, and we put camera gear, flights, and all expenses after our accounts ran dry on credit cards. It took a couple years of work after coming back to really pay off the trip but the experience was worth every penny!

They did! Unfortunately I didn't, but Ethan and Ryan still made the top. Ethan with the ginger beard put on his ski goggles instead of glacier glasses toward the top because a storm rolled in and they were getting pelted with snow, but actually took off his shell jacket leaving just the OR Incandescent Hooded jacket because that storm oddly enough brought a warm current of air to the upper mountain. Did they just skip the mountain climbing bit for chinchillas! Yawn!

The mountain climbing was or soon became secondary to these guys helping wherever they went. I guess you yawned thru too much to figure that out. There are hundreds of awesome mountaineering and superb climbing videos. Change the channel.

Had you actually watched the movie you would have seen them climb the mountain.

Sorry but I found this doc to be seriously disjointed and lacking any sort of focus - which is really the purpose of all docs. I seriously do not know what issue or story you fellas were trying to tell? Seemed to me like just a hodgepodge of clips edited together - ? A great record of memories for the three friends, to be sure, but would I recommend it to a serious documentarian as something not to miss? - I am afraid not.....

Nice road trip but an expedition?? Please. A year or two in film school might help a bit. Pretty amateurish filming and editing

Waste of my time, sorry, no carbon credits offset, no positive effects, no inspiration, why cant you guys work out that cheering something doesn't mean its acceptable, no mountains climbed, no stamina

That's quite the presumptuous statement regarding class Nooby, but yeah, our sponsors gave us snacks and some gear but this adventure was self-funded and self-produced. We did put ourselves deep in the hole and it took years to pay off the travel/production costs (remember you have to pay back what you put on credit cards), but it was worth every penny for the experience of a lifetime. And committing to act on this dream became the foundation for everything I've done in the adventure media space as a climber, blogger, photographer, and speaker, since. Thanks for your thoughtful review though!

nobby styles, What do class and race have to do with the awesome experience and adventure that these young Caucasian men made? Grow up and do something useful with your life, like they did, then you will appreciate what is happening around the world! I admire them for their courage and boldness. God bless them!
