Isn't that her name. If it mattered to Bev she would have corrected her. Just because someone doesn't use .Miss or Mrs doesn't mean they are not respectful. How we treat people is what counts. The young lady shows respect towards her. Let it go.

Wonderful interview. Extremely proud of the young Director, Joelle Simone Powe, and her perspective that this documentary will help our youth in her grouping to understand the 70's versus now. That important element of reconciling our journey with our parent's impact on our lives - thankful how God led me to discover my own misery, to forgive and put aside my interpretation, for Him to make my pain become steps for others. Bestest wishes on the additional portions to her production team. Thank you Cde. Beverley. Powerful to allow others to come inside.

Thank you for your feedback. Miss Beverley asked me to call her Beverley and not anything else. In fact, she has corrected me calling her anything but Beverley several times. She is my family and so there is a certain familiarity. I agree that for the interview it would have been appropriate to call her Mrs. Duncan, but it was cemented in my head that her name is Beverley. I absolutely respect and admire this national icon and hope that comes through in my work about her, which I put a lot into. Thank you for watching! - Joelle Simone Powe

A wonderful documentary I must admit. Captured what Jamaica is really about. The social development of our people was truly captivated in the documentary, especially in part one. I cried when she spoke about the knife incident because that is how I have defined Jamaica and the parents of our troubled children. I wish I can say that I have forgiven my Mother, but it is hard when your life has been destroyed. I guarantee you that if Michael Manley was not her husband or if she never had that illustrious career, there would be no room for forgiveness. Jamaica need a systematic inset, mindset and healing on loving each other starting with the MISSING FATHERS! For me, Beverley Manley nailed the real dilemma of the family in Jamaica and I believe that this is the core reason for so much hate and murders amongst ourselves!

Only Bev could wear sleeveless at 80 and don't have creepy skin hanging. She regal and royal. That song "She Royal " reminds me of her. She's Jamaican's Diana Carol. That's how I saw her growing up and watching Julia. The young ones reading this just Google what you don't understand.

She is NOT being disrespectful, you want to control her to do it Your Way. Beverly is not objecting, why should you!
@wendyhestick85142 жыл бұрын
Is that all you can get out of this, she is young and smart and can do things Her way, the person who should be objecting, isn't. At 80, Beverly will speak her mind, if that was offensive, she would have said something.
@ruthy28252 жыл бұрын
@@wendyhestick8514 Even if she didn't say anything, or told you to call her by her first name, the documentarian would respond politely and say, no ma'am, my mother would be very upset with me if I did that. As Maya Angelo told that student, she had been through too much, done too many things in her life for a child to call her Maya. It's just respect. The problem is, with our generation etc, it's anything goes.
