MARCH 20, 2022: Beverley Manley-Duncan, the ex-wife of former Prime Minister Michael Manley, has weighed in on the controversy over the proposed $2000 banknote bearing the images of Manley and another former prime minister, Edward Seaga. According to Mrs Manley-Duncan, Manley would believe that the gesture is not authentic. "He would be nauseated", she said.

Putting Seaga and Manley on a note together would be equivalent of putting Mitzi and Seaga"s widow faces in the same portrait or Princess Diana and Camellia on the same souvenir cups. Some our children cannot read and write after leaving high school. Our nurses, teachers, firemen, police officers and other critical civil servants cannot get decent salaries and there is a host of other social, family and economical issues across the country. Yet all our so called leaders are complaining about is who is on a currency? How petty and small minded can our leaders be. This is why our country is where it is today after over 50 years. The question is why didn’t the government of Jamaica noted it or petition the wife or ex-wife of the man posted on the $2000 note, and asked for her opinion. If F soul did not like each other here on present earth, then souls are not with each other on the other side. The ex-wife I think should petition the government to ward either give her husband the proper notification of the $2000 bill, and put the second gentleman on a different note.
