The scene with Gilbert Gottfried was completely improvised by him and Eddie. The two were old comedy club friends and were on Saturday Night Live together. If you watch closely, Rosewood and Taggert are trying hard not to crack up laughing. One of the funniest scenes in movie history.

"Shakedown" is a 1987 song recorded by Bob Seger, from the soundtrack of the film Beverly Hills Cop II. The music was written by Harold Faltermeyer, who also wrote the score for the film, and Keith Forsey, with lyrics by Seger. The song became a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100, Seger's only such top mark singles-wise, as well as the Album Rock Tracks chart, where it became his second number-one hit, spending four weeks at the top. In Canada, it went to number one as well, topping the RPM 100 national singles chart on August 1 of the same year.

They asked Glenn Frey to sing it, since he did "Heat is On," but he came down with a nasty case of laryngitis, and recommended the producers get his good buddy, Bob Seger, to do the song. He said, "Well, if Bob does it, at least the money stays in Michigan." LOL.

The bad guys Maxwell Dent (played by German actor Jurgen Prochnow) and Charles "Chip" Cain (played by Dean Stockwell) worked together previously in the 1984 David Lynch version of 'Dune'...Prochnow played Duke Leto Atreides and Stockwell played Dr. Yueh. Everytime I see this movie, I get a giggle about it. Prochnow gained attention in America with the German film Das Boot (The Boat), a WWII submarine thriller. Stockwell was a child actor back in the 1950s, who has been in a lot of amazing stuff...among his best roles were Admiral Al Calavicci in the sci-fi TV series Quantum Leap in the 1980s, and Brother Cavill on the 2004-09 version of Battlestar Galactica. As for the statuesque woman, that is Brigitte Nielsen, who at the time was married to Sylvester Stallone, having been in his films Rocky IV (later playing the same role in Creed II) and Cobra. I think it comes out in the summer, but Eddie, Judge Reinhold (Billy), John Ashton (Taggart). and Paul Reiser (Jeffrey) will be in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, the fourth installment, on Netflix...here's the teaser: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3OqZJyvp5qBbZI

This was director Tony Scott's follow-up film after helming Top Gun (1986) to box-office success. He'd later direct Days of Thunder (1990), The Last Boy Scout (1991), and Crimson Tide (1995). Tony Scott is the brother to Ridley Scott; known for Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Thelma & Louise (1991), and Alien: Covenant (2017). Sadly, he died in 2012. Also, please add Bowfinger to your list. It stars Eddie and Steve Martin - it's definitely a different kind of comedy but I think it's an underrated gem.

the reason Rambo was referenced in the movie and the reason Stallone's Cobra movie poster was on Billy's wall at home is because Carla the tall blonde was engaged to Stallone when the movie came out.

In my opinion, this is the best one of the series. Billy is so over the top with his guns. And Eddie Murphy goes deep, DEEP undercover. Fun fact- they tried to do a tv series where Axel would stay in Beverly Hills, but it didn't go anywhere past the pilot stage. Another fact- Inspector Todd is an actual Detroit police officer. When Eddie goes to the gun club he uses the alias- Richard James. Surprised you guys didn't pick up on the reference to RICK JAMES.

Starting 2024 movie reactions off with a great one. The 3rd was so so, but I'm actually looking forward to the new one just because it seems like they are bringing everyone back that's still with us. And as for Jay's blanket. He's chilling with his woman at home watching great movies and having fun. Don't matter what the blanket looks like. 🤣💜

"Back To The Future III" (1990) someday soon is maybe due, it being 6 months or more since you last visited those guys. And for a classic oldie in black and white, the highly rated Nazi drama with James Stewart from 1940 would be enlightening, "The Mortal Storm".

As much as I love the first one, I think I like this one a little better. The action and comedy really find their groove under the slick direction of Tony Scott:)

Axel Foley can get away with talking so much BS and making people believe it because he's always a few steps ahead of everybody else. The character was written to be that way, and Eddie Murphy just puts his own spin on it.
