Guys, almost every song in this movie has been suggested to you. The one during the semi truck chase scene is "Neutron Dance" by *The Pointer Sisters* , "Stir It Up" by *Patti LaBelle* is playing as he drives downtown Beverly Hills, (her song"New Attitude" is also featured) the song Jordan said was _fire_ is called "Axle F" as in Eddie's character, Axle Foley by *Harold Faltermeyer* , the song "Nasty Girl", playing in the strip club is by one of Prince's groups called *Vanity 6* . Stuffing anything into a tailpipe that completely closes it, blocks the air flow and keeps the engine from running. The guy was "sizing him up" because he found him attractive. That was actor Bronson Pinchot (Pincho) who played Balki on the '80s comedy "Perfect Strangers", and yes, that was Damon Wayans of "My Wife and Kids", "In Living Color" and more. Glad you enjoyed one of my favorites. 🙂 Getting back to a serious movie, try "Duel" starring *Dennis Weaver* . Edge of your seat suspense. I've seen it several times and it still tangles all my emotions and I just want to hug the main character. ☹️

Okay, this movie was originally written for Sylvester Stallone. Sylvester Stallone was not allowed to change the script so, he turned it down. The second choice was Eddie Murphy. But Eddie Murphy had to turn down Ghostbusters in order to do Beverly Hills Cop. In 1984 the two biggest movies were Purple Rain and Beverly Hills Cop. The best selling album was Thriller by Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan had just entered the NBA. 1984 changed America.

Great reaction! I still can't get over the fact that Eddie Murphy was only 21 years old when he starred in this movie; after carrying SNL for 4 years (he was so good that, often, he was in every sketch of some episodes). I was so happy when he returned to host the show in '19, after 35 years where, again, he was in virtually every sketch, including the Weekend Update. If you guys get a chance, can you react to some of his SNL sketches? Keep up the great work!

"48 Hours" with Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte was made just before "Beverly Hills Cop" and was also hilarious! Nolte plays a no nonsense detective and Eddie plays two bit con man that hooks up with Nolte. Great writing!

This is one of his best movies. Hope you watch part 2. Also recommend 48hrs & Another 48hrs, Golden Child, Coming to America, & Trading Places.

A banana in the tailpipe was a good way to disable a car. Car engines have to breath. They take in clean air, mix it with gas and burned gasses (Exhaust) comes out the tailpipe. If you plug up the pipe the exhaust will back up and the engine cant run properly. The car stops. A old trick learned back in the streets of Chicago.
@maingun072 жыл бұрын
It's also the exact reason why a clogged catalytic converter can make a car run poorly.
@jonasfermefors2 жыл бұрын
Mythbusters actually busted this myth. Theoretically you could stall an engine by blocking the tailpipe, but it takes a lot more to get it to stick in place.

Great pick! Enjoyable as always. Glad you liked it. Eddie Murphy’s very first movie was “48 Hrs,” which is really good, too. You should definitely check it out. It’s more dramatic and more violent than this, but he more than holds his own as a dramatic actor. And he still manages to add comedic moments. From his very first scene, he has commanded the screen in every movie he’s ever been in. “Trading Places” should be next and is also very funny. You must watch it before “Coming To America” as it references TP and then you’ll get the joke. Keep up the great work! You guys always make me smile!

You absolutely MUST watch Eddie's stand up comedies "DELIRIOUS" (1983) and "RAW" (1987).... Both are classic Eddie Murphy at his best!
@brucechmiel79642 жыл бұрын
So this movie had some scenes that was really hard for the actors to stay in character. The art gallery scene with Serg Eddie had no idea what kind of accent he would be using and he just lost it. You can see in the take they used he keeps licking his lips cause he's desperately trying to keep himself from laughing. In the supercops scene. Billy is turning bright red cause he is pinching himself in the leg trying to stay focused. Taggert is keeping his head down holding his face trying to keep it together. The actor that plays the watch commander in Detroit is a real cop after a short interview and watching him chew someone out the director offered him the role.

I grew up in the 80’s & I’ve been loving the trips down memory lane with all your reactions. Love Eddie too…. I grew up with 80’s Eddie which was a lot more M rated than his PG 90’s characters but he’s ALWAYS SO MUCH FUN!!!!! 🤗💖

The t-shirt he wears throughout the movie "Mumford Phys Ed" was from a local Detroit high school. After the movie became a hit, the school sold plenty of those shirts. The reason that particular school was chosen was because one of the producers went there.

When Eddie Murphy was young there was a time when he was the biggest star on the planet. He ended up hosting Saturday Night Live while he was still a working member on the cast of Saturday night live. He had two hour long standup performances. The first was delirious that he did at age 21. The second a few years later was called raw. Both are absolutely hilarious and not kid friendly. Coming to America will still be a good movie 200 years from now. 48 hours, boomerang, trading places and Beverly Hills cop two are classics also. I love your reactions! I look forward to seeing your reactions as you explore the early part of Eddie Murphy’s career!

An 80s classic. I'm old but the tradeoff is that I got to grow up in the 80s and 90s with some of the best movies of all time. Movies back then were creative and pure. Nowadays often they're derivative and have a manufacturing line feel, not all but many. We had awesome music and movies in the 80s and 90s.

Other great Eddie Murphy movies are 48 Hours, Another 48 Hours, Coming to America, Beverly Hills Cop 2 ("Axwell"), Trading Places and for some more serious level: Metro.

I think when he said the Cigarettes are popular with the kids... It might have been the 80's joke (In the 80's as a kid like me) You could buy candy cigarettes off the Ice Cream Truck... Very popular!! There were two kinds.. one was a mint flavored candy cigarette pack that you eat... and you could also buy a pack of Cigarette gum! Facts.. 80's were wild!! lmao

Eddie is hilarious, but his comedy is slick, witty, and smart. He pays attention to detail so well and uses it to get the bad guys. Nice reaction guys! First opening song was Glenn Frey "The Heat Is On." Then "Neutron Dance" by The Pointer Sisters. I assume you'll be watching Part 2 and 3 in the future? The soundtrack is a banger Jordan: "Stir It Up" by Joss Stone, "Don't Get Stopped In Beverly Hills" by Shalamar, "Emergency" by Rockie Robbins, "New Attitude" by Patti LaBelle, "Axel F" by Harold Faltermeyer, "Gratitude" by Danny Elfman, "Rock N' Roll Me Again" by The System, "Do You Really (Want My Love?) by Junior and "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6.

Right around (or right after) Eddie was a regular on Saturday Night Love is when he started his movie career. While known mostly for that and for his hilarious stand-up shows, and well before he became a staple of wacky comedies like Norbit, The Nutty Professor, and Daddy Day Care, he was one of the top cinematic draws. In fact, other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'm not sure there was a bigger star in the U.S. His first big hit was a cop drama called 48 HRS., and after BHC (which spawned two sequels), he did a mystical comedy drama called The Golden Child, a crime comedy called Harlem Nights (with Richard Pryor), and comedy Coming To America.
