2:14 I think the 2nd Beverly Hills cop is a genuinely good movie personally. It’s got great characters, great action, a great story, great jokes. I do prefer the first one but I think both are very good.

Great review Jay. I enjoyed the film as a modern day buddy cop action film. I thought the new Beverly Hills Cop was a 3.5/5. It's nowhere near as good as the first two films but I liked it more than part 3 and I don't hate 3 as much as everyone seems to. Side note: isn't it crazy that the budget for this film was 150 million dollars. The budget was twice as much as the first two films combined.

The first two movies are great. Axel F wasn't incredible but it was far better than the third movie. The plot and action sequences are pretty decent, but part of what made the first two movies so appealing was showing off Beverly Hills in the 80s. Beverly Hills in 2024 looks so artificial. While Eddie Murphy really has aged out of the Axel Foley persona, but he still delivers. Still a worthy effort.

I found this movie quite enjoyable. Granted, it has many problems, but I feel like there were so many ways they could’ve screwed this up, and they thankfully didn’t. I was actually kind of relieved that this felt like the 2000’s action films I grew up with. However, maybe I enjoyed it a lot because I only like the first film & didn’t like the second or third one. But, I completely understand why you didn’t like this film. We’ve all got our opinions. (Also, I read that Eddie Murphy has been trying to make this fourth film for decades to rectify how awful the third one was.)

Did you ever step away from your Millennial mind and realize that this movie was not created for you or your generation? I faced that with Star Wars Episodes 1-3 (I watched them all in the theatre), 7 had Harrison Ford, and 8-9 sucked. A couple of these old IP's that they dust off are good. I lived through the original Die Hard series. The 2007 film fed what we wanted and remembered. I watched the movie you're shitting on yesterday. I saw the original movie when I was 12 in the theater. I know the series went down the hill, but that was standard considering Nobody knew it would be a hit. Top Gun Maverick, another triumph that I actually stayed away from, until I forced to see it. There are a lot of jokes in Axel F that you probably wouldn't get without seeing the original, which was groundbreaking at the time. Your generation doesn't understand they way things were. You are all just I.D . It was the first Action/Comedy. It fed everything I needed and didn't sugar-coat it. And everyone does not go home with a trophy. Lucas had a fat story that he had to break up into parts and I believe that's why it was successful. I think that's why they make a lot of shows/movies based on book series.Your answer to my earlier question is irrelavant. Rock on. Wasn't looking for conflict, just didn't ways of looking at the same thing. I liked the movie and my life won't change. Cheers! Nick
