In case you were wondering, the reason why Alfred is a clumsy fat man is because that's how he was in the comics. He used to be fat, and clumsy, but then there was a story where to went to resort on vacation, and spent his time there working out, and returned skinny and clumsy. Alfred was intended to be a comic relief character, who often bumbled his way into trouble, and would get out of it normally through dumb luck. For a look at the original version of Alfred who inspired this show's version, check out Batman issue 10. The reason why made him skinny is because the Batman characters were adapted into a film serial, and they got a skinny man to play Alfred there, and they wanted to make the comic Alfred match what was going on in the big screen. Neat, eh?
@vibemasterkorosu24693 ай бұрын
Thank God we didn't get this Alfred as the popular version. Our current Alfred got a much needed glowup
@yulb.allwright2 ай бұрын
Not quite exactly. Yes. Alfred was first introduced in Batman #16 (April *1944*), by writer Don Cameron and artist Bob Kane, in which he had an overweight and clean-shaven appearance. However, he was originally created by writers Victor McLeod, Leslie Swabacker, and Harry Fraserof for the Batman (*1943*) serial, in which he was played by English character actor William Austin. The comic's story was published prior to the serial's release, regardless, DC editors wanted the comic Alfred to resemble his cinematic counterpart, so in Detective Comics #83 (January 1944), Alfred vacationed at a health resort, where he slimmed down and grew a mustache.

All this series did was show me that people forgot that all the worst things from BTAS were what Bruce Timm championed and all the good stuff from the show had little do with him Never forget that Bruce Timm is the one that has a hard on for the Bruce/Barbara relationship, and had her get pregnant with Bruce's kid while she was dating Dick Grayson in the BTAS canon (it was in the canon follow up comics) Either Bruce Timm really wants to bang one of his co-workers' daughter or it's a fetish he has, cause he's obsessed with it BTAS should be remembered as a staple of the character's history, but Bruce Timm should not be given any type of creative control This is the 3rd time people have made that mistake, maybe this time they'll learn from it Also, quick edit that I forgot to mention, Renee Montoya isn't new to this series and is unironically a pretty solid character within the comics

This show stands as the perfect example of what happens when writers and creators lack nuance and aren't made to operate around certain restrictions. Bruce Timm has the creativity, but he's always needed others to hold him back from going over the top, people like Paul Dini and back in the 90s broadcast and standards. Timm doesn't have the nuance to keep things held back, even several times in past interviews expressing his frustration in not being able to make the characters exactly how he wanted, which ultimately ended up being a good thing. Paul Dini deserves way more credit in making BTAS as good as not was, but Bruce Timm gets all the credit.

Clayface episode: Why couldn’t the actress get off the chopping table after one hand was untied? She just lay there whining about not wanting to die, but didn’t move until her other hand was untied. Little things like that can ruin a series.

I enjoyed the Gentleman Ghost, Clayface, carnival and Onomatopoeia episodes. But the quality isn’t consistent between each show. The Penguin change was utterly pointless, as was making Harley Quinn some Mad Hatter/Hugo Strange knockoff that brainwashes her billionaire clients out of some vague disdain for capitalism. Also, she’s Hawaiian and obese for some reason. But the worst, by far, is how Two-Face was handled. Harvey Dent is played as a one-dimensional misogynist for most of the show, until the last few episodes where he suddenly becomes the “White Knight” for a scant few seconds until he is disfigured by a mobster IN THE BATHROOM. Yeah, that’s right. Harvey’s tragic disfigurement doesn’t even happen when Batman is around. Dude gets his face melted by a goon on the john. And don’t even get me started on how terrible his appearance is in contrast to BTAS, TDK or even that Gotham Knights show that flopped.
@miguelzurita32163 ай бұрын
The Long Halloween movie handled it the best imo, in that movie he is manipulated into going crazy, he already had his tick with the coin but being framed for murder and disfigured pushed him over the edge. I agree Harvey deserved better there's no tragedy for him in this show, he's Two-Face for a few days gets arrested and then dies. As for Harley Quinn making her Bruce's psychologist was fine, making her date another woman is fine, making her work with the police is fine, but making her Harley Quinn without the Joker is stupid, her tragedy is the abusive relationship she has with him. Female Penguin is ok, it's pointless but it works This show is so far OK, and I think it can get better if they improve their writing and actually let these actors do their lines in the same room.
@saidi79753 ай бұрын
@@miguelzurita3216 About Harvey's tragedy, "Eye Of the Beholder" was the first iteration to do it in more details and it was fine, very good Two-Face comic but kinda rushed on the Dent side. Then you have BTAS AND Long halloween which build-up the assassination attempt juuuust right and clue you in that there's something wrong with Harv's temper despite him being an upstanding and Justice-driven attorney... The way THIS show handles it though ? Trash...

I'd like to point out that it's common for voice actors to record their lines seperately when working on animation, anime and cartoons. Recording alone in a booth is typically how it goes. Not all voice actors know each other, nor are they expected to. Press conferences and conventions tend to be how and when they first meet, unless they're regular employees at voice-acting guilds or English dubbing companies. Yes, the voice acting is a downgrade, but recording their lines separately doesn't have anything to do with that.

The reason that we have Batman animated series is because the popularity of Tim Burton Batman I could sum up this show in one word “inferior“ Bruce Tim gets too much credit. He’s just the guy who came up with a cool designs he’s not that good of a writer The guy that actually was the soul of the original Batman the animated series was Paul Dini. He’s the guy who came up with reworking most of the villains that are iconic to this day like Mr. freeze. And JJ Abrams is not someone you look to and think quality His whole gimmick is “mystery boxes” And he can’t really create anything original he usually repurpose things badly And the guy who did the Batman movie I don’t see anything in the show that looks like it’s from him The thing they did with nocturna is really weird. They gave her the poison ivy treatment from the suicide squad game. They took a sexy femme fetal vampire character and turned her into a child and gave her weird undertones. Like look up the character She is dark and beautiful and alluring. Yeah, also the animation is lazy and it sucks They say this is the show they wanted to make and there’s 90s, but I don’t believe them. The only thing I’ll say is good about the show is the intro and the theme song.

"There was a really well animated shot of a goon getting knocked unconscious that reminded me of '90s Disney, but otherwise completely skippable" I know exactly what "really well animated shot of a goon getting knocked unconscious" you're talking about lol. You're talking about that one animated shot from season one episode seven, "Moving Target" where a goon gets punched and hits the back of his head against a window and slumps down to the floor. I saw that and I was like how come the whole show wasn't animated like that one single shot lol? Like did they get James Baxter to do just that one single shot lol? I was not impressed at all with the animation in "Batman: Caped Crusader". The way characters moved, gestured, and talked was consistently stiff, superficial, and repetitive and the action wasn’t any good. Shots and angles were also all repetitive and uninspired, and while I appreciate the use of the Dark Deco art style from "Batman: The Animated Series", I found it was all for nothing since it still ended up being hardly anything visually appealing for the most part in terms of backgrounds, lighting, shading and colorwork. That one single shot from season one episode 7 was literally the only piece of animation that I liked and looked fluid lol.
