You know I go into raptures when it comes to Beverly Sills! She was in pristine vocal condition for this performance and her infectious joy of singing is omnipresent. I saw Sills onstage in ‘Daughter,’ but at a later date (mid-1970s), and in English. The performance here is better. She had a fantastic facility in French and, of course, her voice was fresher before all the Donizetti queens.
