The person is saying male-female correctly AFAIK. "The MC4 system consists of a plug and socket design. The plugs and sockets are inside plastic shells that appear to be the opposite gender - the plug is inside a cylindrical shell that looks like a female connector but is referred to as male, and the socket is inside a square probe that looks male but is electrically female."

In Kerala, mail and females are reversed. The mail you mentioned is female to us

Crimped without proper MC4 crimping tool and also cheap cable. Aluminium cables are known to causing creep out of connectors. Too many amps. I think MC4 is rated for 30A.

I don't care how often they blame us for not buying the same brand as the panel or not having an expensive crimp tool , the MC4 is a bad decision for solar. It is a standard which is not standardized! It's not easy to install or use. Anderson works quite well but not IP rated. I guess that direct connections are the cheap and reliable solution, but sometimes we want to disconnect or change.

LOL. I get what you're saying , but all solar panels come with connectors already attached during manufacture, so it's impossible to source the same manufacturer (in China). I've had the same problem occur twice (with good quality connectors) and since most installations are permanent, the real solution is to do away with ALL of them, solder and insulate the cables.
