Thx, solo for at least understand how we feel abt these scammers. They painted bad picture to the 1st timer travellers to our country. Locals wouldnt do that as our Govt provides temporary shelters n the NGOs provide free food n medical to these shelters. You can find 'Rumah Gelandangan' (Homeless Shelter) near Chow Kit Area n every big cities such as Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Penang n etc. Only Malaysians are able to identify the country they are from, their behaviour, the way they dressed, the way they speaks n so on so forth. Even the foreigners who'd travelled around the world tend to miss these kind of identifications. Thus, just be careful.

In general scamming is to deceive someone. These are fake beggars, Fakers and scammers are not in the same category. Scammers in general are more sophisticated, while beggars are still beggars whether it is for real or not.

My bad experience is that a couple with a 7 year old kid, met me outside a coffeshop and introduced themselves as a Dubai family and were keen to see my country’s notes. So I showed him a $5 dollar singapore note then he asked if he could see a bigger denomination note like $50. His hands were reaching into my wallet as I was putting away the $5 note. I quickly blocked his hand and stopped chatting with him. His wife has the cheek to say why Im afraid of them they are from rich Dubai country!

@@TravelingSoloLogsthe only way to fix it is to relocate them to a third country. These rohingyas are unhcr cardholders. Malaysia does not accept refugees but they have been here for more than 10 years. Since they are not allowed to work, they've resorted to begging & armed robberies. I dont think they are going anywhere since they've started asking for citizenship & wanted certain areas to be given to them. They even refuse to attend the same mosque as the locals.

@@TravelingSoloLogs Malaysians natural compassion used to welcome them especially Rohingya's bad situation in Myanmar. Over times, their behaviour/attitude, arrogance exposed, most Malaysians despised them but can't do much due to their UNHCR "umbrella". Fortunately Malaysian govt starts to take action, some even deported especially illegal migrant from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal. Stay safe! Ramadan Kareem 😊

Some easy tips I've noticed as a local: Local malaysians never approach other people, even other locals, definitely not if you're a tourist. We're friendly, but not that friendly 🤣. Be very suspicious of anyone who approaches you. Beggars in Malaysia are 100% scammers, they're most definitely not locals. Local beggars/scammers these days operate online under fake profiles with fake babies 🤣. If they say no one helps them, they lie. Churches, temples, mosques provide food and help for those in need. Those who are considered hardcore poor are registered with the Welfare Departments.
