The internet can be a great resource for caring for your natural hair, but not all information is good for you. In fact, some can be disastrous so it's important to get advice from legitimate professionals with years of experience. But first, try not to compare your texture to others.

This is why the natural hair community was abandoned. Too many influencers giving bad advice on black haircare. A lot of us started following eccentric hair practices because we think our hair is very different from everyone else’s. If BW would overcome the fear of frequent washing and conditioning our hair we’ll see our hair isn’t much different from everyone else’s.

I recently started on my natural hair journey after being relaxed when younger, then staying bald for 4 years (bc of ease, and hell, I looked good!). Now diving into youtube university, and there's so many differing opinions!! So glad to have found a LEGITIMATE source that knows what they're talking about! Cant wait to hop, skip, & jump from DC to NYC and have you get into my tresses one day.

This advice is so needed and timely. We are either doing too much or not enough. It does not have to be so complicated. Simplicity in products and finding a hair style, shirt, medium , or long, that works in your environment and lifestyle will save your time and money. Appreciate the reminders and the time you give as a hair subject matter expert for free. May you continue to be blessed and prosper.

Great advice! Just went to a professional a few weeks ago, she shaped my hair and did a wash and go. I had not gone to a salon in 9 years for a professional trim. It has been a game changer for my 4c hair. I’ll be going back quarterly for a maintenance trim, it’s worth every penny.

I have to say as a 20-year natural who used to relax my hair chemically, it took me a good 5 or 6 years to actually find my natural healthy texture. So I had to cut off all the chemically relaxed ends, then I had to find a hair regimen that provided the moisture/protein balance that I needed in order to make sure my hair stay hydrated and strong. And then I had to maintain that through every season both externally and internally of my life. And finally in the past 3 years I have learned retain length with regular trims, and responsible Heat styling. I think the thing that isn't communicated to people is thatwhatever you do to your hair it will take time for you to figure out what works, and jumping on the band wagon without taking in as much info as possible is going to lead you down a bad path.

I stumbled across your channel about a month ago. Started following your technique and my wash n go, which was always my staple is so much easier. Less shedding or pulling out my strands and my hair is healthy and hydrated. I just need to set up an appointment for a trim. It's been a while. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing and providing this information. I actually stopped following a few YT hair influencers for the reasons you mentioned ( i.e. rice and / or onions water).

I watched a video that said never clip your ends to grow long hair. The lady said why are we measuring what healthy ends look like by "white standards?" The lady was Caribbean, I don't know if she's a cosmetologist in the Caribbean or not, she bragged about not having clipped her ends in many years. I thumbs down and the video and clicked off.
