Wow! Definitely the most educative of all your videos! Absolutely fantastic! I felt I was there. What I recall from my drive-through for my overnight stay in Cairo in 1996 was the colour of the buildings which was the colour of sand. Your panoramic view of the town from the pyramids showed no discernible different between the sand and buildings, but for the dark holes which were the windows.👏👏👏👍👊

I took a camel ride at Giza after the revolution in 2011. I had the same experience. The prices were high and the guides asked for a tip on the way back to the office, then asked for another tip once we arrived back at the office. They don't understand nice so I had to get angry with them. Back then all the employees were desperate for money as the tourists were not coming due to the unrest. The employees were trying to take us to restricted areas and of course wanted a bribe afterward. Also be aware that when you get a driver they get a cut of everything you spend money on while you are with them. So the driver will encourage you to spend more than you would like. You have to be very firm when saying NO!

Scammers are everywhere in Egypt, they don't ask for double or triple price they ask for 20-30 times the price.

Tip for visiting the pyramids, if anyone comes up to you offering services, saying theyre a tour guide or offering things to sell but at a very high price, either try to negotiate the price down to a normal/acceptable amount of money, only use taxis using uber not any camels or horse rides as those will always be a scam for the price. Just say say "La, Shukran" and walk off completely ignorong them. Dont talk to them as theyll take it as an opportunity to scam you easily. Also nothing is free in egypt so don't accept any free rides or gifts etc, as theyll ask for money after you take it. Tell anyone who tries to scam you you'll report them to the tourism police and they will go away haha

The overwhelming majority of pyramid stones are Tura Limestone from Tura, not far away. Definitely NOT from Aswan.

I think your taxi driver with you was part of the scam. How come he was standing quietly when you were discussing the camel ride rates ? He could have easily helped you out.

this is exactly what i asked him at some point during the negotiation... I told him that i was surprised to see him quiet here and asked him what was his own part/percentage in this negotiation.... however the price went down to something that was really okay.

I live in East Africa and the same applies here: a local driver or even your local partner will never interfere in price negotiations between you and local dealers. Especially not if you are only staying there temporarily. The reason? The dealer will insult your driver or your companion in the worst possible way as soon as he meets him or her again, while you yourself have long since returned to your home town.
