You channel made me aware of the danger of. We pull them out as the toy gets more chewed. I've found a few sitting on the carpet in the past, thankfully my boy didn't feel the need to ingest. Thank you Heeler Mama

So far Skye hasn’t eaten any of the squeakers. We watch him closely when he has a toy with a squeaker. He seems satisfied chewing on Benabones, cheese chewies, etc. I hope it stays that way! Thanks for sharing all of the different types of squeakers. Love seeing the crew!

I vividly remember Sully and all the tests u went thru b4 u finally found the squeaker. SO GLAD Sully is ok. This is a great PSA. Thanks for the demo. I had no idea they could be so small ❤❤❤
@popqueen99992 ай бұрын
Yup, my heeler also loves squeakers, and eating stuff he's not supposed to. I've been doing 'surgery' on all his toys since he was a baby. Very important to supervise and make sure! Thanks for the PSA for those who don't know!!

Ruby does the stare down to our cat when he goes near her food. He doesn't care less and will still eat her biscuits, or pick chicken pieces out of her bowl. As for squeakers, our big rottie girl was petrified of them. We couldn't give her any toys with them in. Ruby on the other hand loves them and we feel she tries to talk to us with them. Oh, and she's started using her radio buttons again. "Play" is getting over used 🤣😂

I have thought about getting those buttons but I'm worried that is all I will here is play, walk, play, walk lol I sometimes wonder if the stare down is him trying to say, hey I can be tough too, because she really will nip or whack him one to put him in his place. She hates those rules being broken and he is the rule breaker lol

My late heeler Jesse loved squeakers. Even when she was pushing 15, she would find energy to play with squeaker toys. As she got older she grew more kind to her toys so they’d last longer, since my sister’s dog would come over sometimes for pet sitting and destroy her toys to get the squeakers. Jesse was like “that’s the best part!” So she always put her toys in special places to keep them safe.
@GeanieG2 ай бұрын
Very few toys survived Pepper. It was Kong all the way (not including the Wubba, which she destroyed in, like, 10 minutes). Her Mom, Abigail, seems to cherish her toys and never destroys them. So funny how different they are. Our older male we had, Auzi, could untie any rope in 20 minutes and break it down to strings. Great video. 😃
@TheHeelerMama2 ай бұрын
My Lu was the destroyer of rope toys. I was always amazed how quick he got them undone, and thank you.
@busywithdogs2 ай бұрын
Sully is the poster child for why we must supervise our dogs with toys, and the scary thing is, that some dogs don't survive. And this can happen to the best pet parents! I have to watch Hannah because even though she won't play with toys she likes to eat them and tear them into strings which is also dangerous. Fortunately, Clover and Joy are good with toys, but I still don't let them have toys without supervision. The time it takes for me to watch them is way cheaper than surgery or the heartache of losing them. Thank you for the PSA, I know this video can save lives. Ps. Mr. Man, be nice to your sister! It's not easy putting up with your dramatic and reactive ways. (We love you, but you could take a chill pill.)
@TheHeelerMama2 ай бұрын
He really is! People still don't believe me when I tell them what happened to him too. I'm like, I have receipts! You wanna see the pictures of that incision? I really could have lost him too if it wasn't for the help we got. I'm sure we would have figured out something, maybe, but I'm forever grateful for the help we got. I was watching him fade before my eyes and it was the scariest thing. And yes, we love him but he needs to chill a bit. I don't know who mad who mad first but he is staring her down and she is constantly biting his tushy, and he's becoming more possessive over mama since I'm now home more again. Ugh, kids lol
@busywithdogs2 ай бұрын
@@TheHeelerMama You really could have, you had to fight to be heard. I know it was hard but look at him now, thriving and living his best life. It bewilders me how people will choose not to believe things like that. I can see that. Most of the true tiffs that Hannah and Clover get into have been instigated by Hannah, not Clover. But it would look like Clover started it if I wasn't paying attention. There are times when Hannah has just had enough of the puppy stuff, but that's not always the case. Honestly, the only reason I care about what sets them off is so that I can stop the spats before they happen. They are playing right now but are getting on each other's nerves so I keep having to make them chill out for a minute. You are right, kids. I am sure that your crew will do better once they settle back into having Mom home all the time. How is Sully doing with all of the intruders?
@TheHeelerMama2 ай бұрын
@busywithdogs I like know the causes too to prevent it or fix whatever might be going on. As for the intruders, he's listening well about going upstairs to be locked up, has only screamed barked once on a drop off, but cries the whole time I'm grooming and won't relax. My husband took a video, and boy, does he have some separation anxiety. Gypsy will wait at the gate with Clea and her anxiety is way less now that I'm home. He is extra clingy after and seems to be getting better about other dog smells in his house.
@busywithdogs2 ай бұрын
@@TheHeelerMama Yup, Mama cannot fix it if Mama does know what caused it. Separation anxiety is tough, I hope that you can work through that with him. Hopefully, he will adjust to the new lifestyle soon. It's good to hear that the girls are doing better you being home.

@busywithdogs So much calmer with everyone now that I'm here. He is just so obsessed with having to be near me 24/7. I might have to do some retraining exercises with him. He actually has dad with him while I'm working cuz he's up there with them working, but he still is upset.

I have had decent luck with Kong, Tuffy, and the Bark box super chewer toys. But always watch out for parts that they rip off. I still have to pull pieces hanging off of the Bark toys or pick them up before they swallow them. Thankfully they don't do that as much now but when they were puppies everything is danger lol.
