There are legitimate reasons one might edit a post, so this is a bad idea. An alternative idea is to have a prominent edited tag that you can click and see the original.

@@MrNaesme this used to be the case with edits, but when it comes to videos that would mean potentially doubling or tripling the entire server needs for every single post that's been created if each iteration has to be saved. I think it should be a case of if you need to edit the post once it's left your immediate contacts ,you either create a summary post, delete it and start again or just have it stick as it is...the risk of being scammed is far greater than anyone's need to simply make an edit

The problems with facebook go way beyond sharing scam posts. Somehow they can spoof your whole page. So stay safe out there.

It's very simple to do. All of your photos are able to be downloaded if they can be viewed. Even more, if you can see someone's posts, you can copy and paste it. This scam works by having a scam account run a script that goea through Facebook looking for profiles viewable by Eveyone, downloading the photos and posts, creating a new profile with that information, and then spamming friends requests to eveyone. As you get more friends, you can see more profiles and keep iterating. The way to limit it is to set your security settings so that only friends can see your profile and then only add people you know. That'll go a long way to lowering your risk.

You know what is sad? When you notice a scam post and report it, Facebook / Meta is not doing anything about it! Sometimes a post get removed but when you report the profile, it stays up! I noticed that just a little too much and to make it even worse, paid posts stay up after reporting. Out of the 10 posts i report, 9 stay up!. So if you don;t want to be scammed, just share your own posts because even the blue "tick" next to the name can be bought.

You had a commercial were the female speaker revealed how seamen can be leaked for days even after taking a shower right way. I am 50yo and I never knew that. I am going to feel awkward now everytime load the truck. I will never see women the same anymore. I almost made it through life without ever knowing that much details. When you get a post from someone about a missing person, always do an online verification search about the missing person. An online search should reveal if the missing person is still missing or has been found. There should also be online postings from the local news media and law enforcement agency about the missing person. Thanks for the great advice Rosie about what to look out for so folks won't become scam victims.

I always do reverse search, tell the person posting it’s a scam, the block the person and delete the post. I also have my privacy settings as high as it goes. Only friends see my posts and photos and I don’t friend anyone I don’t personally know. I don’t need thousands of FB friends.

How to beat scammers as a dude, "Hello, this is *insert scam here*" "You got the money?" "Excuse me sir, but I'm calling you about*Scam*." "Listen here son, Jimmy is gonna get his money, and he knows you're jerkin' him around. You give him the money or he's takin' the brakes off next week." *Scammer silence* "Capeche?" *More scammer silence* "Anyways, how's your mom doing, I haven't talked to her in a while.". Fun thing to do; share a number or link, etc.,from a scammer with another scammer, the "circular firing squad" affect is quite humorous and very effective! (block your identity the best you can when doing so, I've heard that if a scammer can see your text number they can potentially upload viruses via texts.)

None of these posts should be able to be edited after it is viewed by the first person. I have made posts and I have made an error, but I fixed it quickly before anyone viewed it so I didn't have an effect. That's why Twitter does not allow edits, because someone can say I love trump, then after it gets 10,000 likes they can say I am a homosexual, and it will show 10,000 likes for that Facebook needs to get with a game they are getting a little slow, especially with people losing their accounts to scammers
