True, Samantha seldom drove on camera. But she drove often enough to give the impression that she could drive. In fact, in an episode in the first season, she takes driving lessons from an instructor played by Paul Lynde. The producers must have concluded early that in order to maintain the fiction that she was a typical suburban housewife, this would be something she would have to learn (and do). Otherwise, too much suspicion about her and her KSATPs would arise and the jig would be up - especially with the Tates and Kravitzes.

Watch the episode DRIVIJG IS THE ONLY WAY TO FLY. This is where Sam is taught to drive by Paul Lynde. This episode is hysterical. Sam is seen driving in several episodes. It's part of living like a mortal. I suspect traffic jams were frustrating for her, knowing what she can do. 😀

Darrin wears a business suit and tie when lounging around the house -- and apparently it's not considered unusual. Then, Mr. Kravitz stops by for a casual chat and he's wearing a crisp white shirt and tie. I was only a child in the '60s, but I don't recall my father (or neighbors) ever wearing a suit and tie around the house!

They were, in 1926 (remote controlled ones were in 1931). But they weren't common until much later. In fact, my house (built in the 1920s; gone through multiple owners) didn't have one until I had one installed in the late 2010s! And quick-release mechanisms to prevent entrapment (that would've saved Sam and Darrin in this episode) were not required until 1982.

You know, if Darren wasn't such a magic-hater, he could have just let Samantha magic a new electric garage door in, right then and there. Problem solved! Mind you, an awful lot of issues would have been solved if he'd just let her use her magic. He could have been a very rich man! But no....because male pride. :P

Oh yes, definitely male pride and not just a mortal guys opinion. Its always you people and sexism. Sexism this, sexism that, sexism where there is none to be seen by a non biased normal person that you, frankly, could never strive to be. Everyone knows the male pride is to avoid being rich and having infinite granted wishes. Sounds so awful, what an awful person...not wanting to be selfishly wealthy!

This would have been one of those 'magic caused the problem, magic will fix it' times for me. I'd zap myself over to a place selling them, find out how they work, and then zap one in place at home. For show, make it not work reliably and then later tell the neighbors you had it removed. I wouldn't buy one and have it installed.

I definitely prefer Alice Pearce to Sandra Gould as "Mrs. Kravitz." She was another very talented comedian with a wide variety of funny faces and good comedic timing. Gould's character was even more whinny and annoying somehow and not particularly witty . She played the typical nosey neighbor and chatty cathy too bland for my taste. I am very glad that George Tobias was always "Abner Kravitz." His dry humor towards his wife's behaviors always makes me smile. To think the magic between the series long neighbors all started with Samantha and Endora doing some magical landscaping at the newly purchased Stevens home and Gladys witnessing through her window. I believe Abner gave her three spoonfuls of her medicine to calm her down.

I love them both! Of course, no one could ever replace Alice Pearce, yet that was the role Sandra Gould was challenged with. Rather than attempting to imitate Alice Pearce, she brought her own inimitable style to the character of Gladys. Alice Pearce was an exceedingly tough act to follow, yet I think Sandra Gould pulled it off brilliantly!

@@JohnLee-pt5jz I have been watching the show regularly and I have new love for all the original and secondary characters. The only thing about Dick Sargent's performance as Darrin that bothers me most is that I don't feel the love for Elizabeth that Dick York had on the show and in reality, but that is understandable considering, and I also think the considering is also part why Sargent played Darrin so seriously. He helped the show to continue though and I appreciate him for that. It's funny to watch as an adult and realize how many plots and episodes were recycled, so it is surprising to me how the show lasted its eight seasons, and in my opinion it was Elizabeth because she always made even the recycled materials feel fresh.

I always catch a glitch i. The writing from these ole shows. I sometimes cant figure out how the scripts got past the editors and the directors. Lol. Darrin tells mr cravitz that its to sark out to see the electric garage opener, then he says to come back tommorrow NIGHT and he will show him then. Lmao. If its to dark to see it tonight, or any night, then how will they be able to see it tomorrow night or any other night, lmao. Bad writing, imo. Unless, darrin did not say his lines correctly, then i can understand the mistake, but then it should not have been in the final cuts of the show. Oh well. Glen
