Thanks. I'm still debating, as some people will have a negative opinion as soon as they see an affiliate link. I'll regardless of what I decide, I'll be very objective/fair with whatever I cover. That was the whole point of the channel in the first place - to be trustworthy

I bought the EPOS GSX 1000 Second Edition based on this channels reviews and I’m super happy with my purchase. Everything that was mentioned (pros and cons) were spot on with my experience with the product. There were no surprises when I received the product, because the review was not only honest, but informative. Nothing was left out.

At this point I think you have earned some sponsored placements on your channel given you have stayed critical of the products you review over the years which is the hard route when you could just say everything is good and rack in the free shit/compensation from the companies like 99% of these youtubers have been doing. More money means more content potentially, we are here for it. Appreciate you Joe.

Thanks! I always avoid the term "sponsored" because it suggests some form of money was exchanged or their was a prior agreement. beyerdynamic was great in that they had zero input/asks for the video. They just sent it for review, no questions asked. I only review products from companies that have a neutral approach, but the affiliate stuff is a way to earn a kickback if it's a desirable product. I just didn't want people to think it was "desirable" because I got a kick back. If I add any affiliate links in the future, I'll be sure to prove/maintain objectivity and trustworthiness as well. Thanks for the support!

@@GadgetryTechif it wasn't desirable, would you still put an affiliate link with the content? If not then it doesn't matter. You only affiliate for products you think are worth it aka you don't want to profit from products you don't appreciate. So yes you putting an affiliate link up means you get a percentage of every kickass product sold... But if it is kick ass, your viewers would have bought it anyway. You saved them a google search 😂 And if you put links for products you like better 👍 the gaming beyer is a nice find. Using a 700 pro x here, very happy. Next target is a hedd 2.0 😂

It’s a tough question to answer. You def deserve to get kick backs. What drew me to your channel over other channels is your honesty and unbiased opinion. I never felt like you were over hyping a product just because it was sent to you or because you wanted to push people to it for the kick backs.

Another great review. My thoughts on sponsorships … I’m fine with them, especially if the sponsor is not from the manufacturer / provider of the item being reviewed. So, for a headphone review it can be sponsored by an DAC/AMP brand that you used to test the cans with, or by a cable brand etc. Same with DAC review, sponsor with a cable supplier.

Hi, I would be interested to see a comparison between the new DT 770 Pro X and the old DT 770 Pro. I am a bit concerned about the new drivers here.... I owned the DT 700 X and think that sounded very flat and lifeless using the same drivers as the limited edition here. Comfort was also pretty much terrible. (small cups, heavy, headband... ) So if anyone knows how it goes sound-wise, please share. I still love my DT 770 pro. Thanks :)

I got them and I am blown away by the sound quality of these, not flat at all (nice V shape), very very precise, amazing bass and sub bass, It seems they won't even need EQ at all... It will be overall hard to beat at this price, even with open backs.

Keep loving them, I compared them (80 Ohms) with both the DT 700 Pro X and the DT 770 Pro X LE. Also found the DT 700 Pro X rather flat and a bit congested, lacking upper treble, and surprisingly upper bass as well. The DT 770 Pro X LE add back the upper treble and openness, but they also boost lower treble to an annoying extend. They also boost lower bass, don't fix the upper bass hole of the DT 700 Pro X, and have very recessed mids. They sit somewhere inbetween the DT 700 Pro X and the classic DT 770, but not in a good way but in a "might work for some, not for me" way. The classic DT 770 Pro are just perfect for me!

The DT 770 Pro sound much more natural and enjoyable to me. The DT 770 Pro X LE (and also the DT 700 Pro X) are easier to drive and get louder. But I can easily get the classic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms loud enough, and their better sound, tried and tested design, and cheaper price made the decision easy for me. Quick characteristics of the three: - DT 770 Pro X LE: V-shaped, recessed mids, very sharp treble, strong sub-bass, lacks a bit in upper bass, pretty airy and open character - DT 700 Pro X: Balanced frequency-response, great mids, lacks a bit in upper bass and upper treble, can still sound sharp in lower/mid treble, a little closed-in and congested - DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms (no idea how different they are compared to 32 and 250 Ohms): Balanced frequency-response with slight elevations in bass and treble, still present and detailed mids, not recessed, occasionally a little sharp treble (much less then the DT 770 Pro X LE, and if it does, it's in a less annoying region further up), better upper treble extension/air than both Pro X models, very airy and open character for a closed-back

Hi, many thanks for your review. It's really great when you totally agree with a reviewers findings. Spot on about the high end which I do find a bit crispy. I'm not sure about the science about 'burning in' speakers, headphones etc or whether that is just us getting used to the sound. My DD70 Pro X's are so new that they are almost out of the box, so question is, how long have you been listening to them and could I expect my pair to mellow with use? I have and old pair of ATH-M70x (what is it with the X's?) and did'nt like them out of the box and now they are the best sounding closed headphones I have ever owned apart from the fact that they keep breaking structurally. For background I'm a 61 year old who's hearing has been nuked both at work and for pleasure but the strident high end is not that pleasing and adds nothing.........I suppose I'll have to wait and see?

I've been listening to these for a while today, and I think the only thing that I don't think I'm of the same opinion about is that I don't find these to be unresolving. I'm listening on an SMSL SU-8S/SH-8S stack, and I'm finding the detail and resolution to be really good. Better than I remember my DT 990 Pro being, but I don't have it here to compare. Detail-wise, it feels to me like it's competing pretty well with things I have in the $200-$300 range (HD6XX and Fiio FT3). I had another cheap closed back, the R7-DX from Hifiman that I think has maybe a little better soundstage, but the DT770 Pro X has better extension on the bass, and it's nice and clean. Punch Brothers version of "Another New World" at 2:45 when the bass plays a long drawn out note, it's nice and clean on the Beyerdynamic. Drivers seem pretty fast to me. Anyway, thanks for another detailed review. Have you considered including your source(s) on the videos? Might give a little perspective if there are differing opinions on the subjective side of things...

I don’t think affiliate links are a bad thing if you keep your current review style. It’s very in depth, there’s the objective measurements that you can’t argue with, and then there’s your subjective opinion on it. Every headphone will have pros and cons. If your review covers both and I deem the product still worth purchasing, I don’t see why it would be a bad thing for you to get a tiny bit from that. That said, have you seen the Turtle Beach open back headphones they just announced? Very curious to see how those will turn out.

However, I suggest including non-affiliate links alongside them, allowing viewers to make purchases without any associated kickbacks. As demonstrated in this video, presenting both options fosters transparency and ensures unbiased recommendations. I concur with your stance on avoiding sponsored content, as it may compromise the integrity of your opinions by introducing external influences aimed at swaying reviewer perspectives.

Yep, I also prefer the old drivers by far. The new Pro X drivers are very efficient and easy to get loud. But they just don't sound as nice. I was also annoyed by the cable noise of the DT 770 Pro X LE that was transferred to the earcup because of the stiff, inflexible connection. @@VeitLehmann in my experience with cables, it has a lot to do with the material on the cable as to whether it will have microphonic issues. It is true that measurements between rigs differ.. it is also true, if you take unit variation out of the equation, that if you want to tune one product to sound like another, both should have been measured on the same rig (i do that to have an idea for my next purchase decision and i start from products that are close in FR to begin with... but at the same time when you go on two squig.links and when landing you see the Harman OE 2018 target, you kind of expect a similar measurement up to 8-9000 hz (at least).. I am talking about a question I posed to you on Resolve's live stream about different measurement between yours and another guy's for the JT1... turned out he was using a different rig but still featured H2018 on his squig.. I have since seen another measurement on a rig that can "support" the H2018 and it is similar to yours...

I have been using Beyer Dynamic for decades and I will never buy any of their low impedance headphones again. I haven't had any of their new low impedance (80ohm) headphones last more then a year. Beyer does have good warrantee but all of the 80ohm headphones stopped working in little as 6 months. The left or right side always blows out or gets distorted, the cushion wears out fairly quick. The ear pads need to be replaced to get the best sound. I love Beyer Dynamic headphones but stay away from their low impedance headphones and only buy their high impedance (250ohm and above) headphones They are amazing and have two pairs that lasted over 12 years.

Maybe i've been lucky but i have dt770 80ohm and it worked perfectly for 8 years. even after that the left headphone stopped working but i suspect it was because of improper attachment of the cable, which i could have prevented if i took better care. (if i get it fixed it might as well last several more years..)

Hard to answer correctly to your question, we dont know the numbers, and we dont know how good or bad the channel goes for you. Probably links would be profitable to the channel (and you), you would get more sample unit and requests from companys. I like your independency tho, I want you to stay honest and roast products when they deserve it, so maybe you should use some kind of hybrid solution, use links for good value products or something and refuse cooperation with bad products. Is it too naive? :D

Thanks, I appreciate it! The feeling of independence has been a staple of integrity for content, so I want to be careful not to ruin that. I'm more of a "for the people" not "for the brand" person. Doing no affiliate links helps back that up. There's a lot to think about, but thanks for your input!

Hey, so I have the DT770 Pro 80ohms that I bought back in 2018, it's still good, but I have a question. Paired with an iFi Zen DAC, for gaming, the volume just isn't loud enough at low gain, and when I hit the high gain button, it distorts when I up the dial. It sounds okay on Spotify because it's louder, but in games it's much quieter, and the distortion is killing the experience that I'm rather sticking with my Kiwi Ears Melody and EM6l IEMs. Will an amp sort the issue or could there be something wrong with the headphones? To be clear, distortion only happens in high gain mode max volume on my Zen DAC and not on low gain.

I have exactly the same headphones as you. What you have to remember is the DT770 are single ended and the 80ohm has a sensitivity of 96db which makes them quite hard to drive. It sounds like your amplifier doesn't have enough power to drive them to their full potential. Options would be a more power amplifier or have your DT770's converted to balanced 🙏
