How has she changed music?
@TommyDidads Жыл бұрын
@@odeity7029 There’s yet to be an album that shook the music ‘BUSINESS’ like her self titled surprise release. Before that everything had to be (expensively) promoted to the Max before release. This allowed labels to take back most of an artists advance. Not only did she rip up that playbook, that was the point when designated singles became a thing of the past. It was a digital album & every song had its own video, which allowed consumers to gravitate to there favourites for themselves. Potentially every song on the album could be a single & got a lot of radio play. These things are now the norm. Due to that, artists now have to make sure every song on a project is the best quality. Not 4 singles & a bunch of throw away album songs. Nobody had the power, influence or balls to drop a project without warning & flip the music scene on its head as she did. Whatever ur opinion is of her as a person, she’s 1 of the very few artists with undeniable talent in every department! (apart from acting …🫣) But I have a feeling if u didn’t understand her major contribution to music before, my words will do little to change that.

Thank you for making this.. I have always loved her songs, they helped me grow, they helped me express my pain, fantasies and exploit my very much sexual energy. They taught what to desire in a man, how to attract the attention of a man, how to focus on my side in a relationship as well include the other party in my focus(non selfishness in a relationship).. They taught me about fashion, embrace of self, they taught me to talk about myself.. They validated my feelings and thought patterns. Not to mention the mimicking of her voice ranges. Her lion king oriented songs did well in telling me about motherhood, even though I am not yet a mother biologically.. she taught me about family, to pride in family and look upto the elders, she taught me to desire and to have a road where I am headed for myself and for purposes of inspiring others.. she taught me about what to fear(fear to die without having done anything significant in the lives of others)... Although I have not embarked on this new album. Especially now that I see it with the eyes of a psychologist, a Christian and a Muganda woman and I fail to pick up on them, which is my bad ... I very much revere the woman. She took me through my early adulthood years. She has placed such a huge stone in the making of the woman I am. I shall always appreciate her.

5:34 I just wanted to make one point Michael Jackson's HISTORY and the albums to follow were groundbreaking in the sense that they rejected everything that was considered the superficial commercial music standards, so did Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope, and Prince revolted completely when he changed his name to symbol. Mind you, none of them were getting a whole lot of radio play on the "pop radio stations". So, Beyoncé did do anything new, she just realized what they realized long ago, and decided to follow suit with not being constraint by the superficial standards in the music industry.

You’re absolutely correct by all of this. Firstly, I am a huge fan of all three artists you mentioned. Great video! Thing is, I only disagree with the assertion that Michael Jackson used a 'tried and true format' for his success. Nothing like Thriller existed before he pioneered what has become the modern industry standard for pop releases. Especially for Black musicians. He invented the format for is own goals, just as Beyonce is doing for herself. Black artists were just simply not played on mainstream rock stations even if they made rock music. They were relegated to Black channels and Billboard's "Black music" chart no matter what they did artistically. Michael was ahead of the curb and revolutionized music promotion in his time with Thriller. The album laid the groundwork for the modern day release model. The music industry was failing in the early 80s and people were diverting their recreational attention to video games; Thriller revitalized it and introduced the modern day iteration of the music video with his innovation as well as releasing several singles from a single album and experimenting with several genres in a single project. That era of his ushered in the music video star (which welcomed the likes of Madonna, Prince etc.), and made his label so much money it allowed for Freddy Mercury to go solo. We also know how much Beyonce enjoys the video visual aspect of her artistry- and we know what his Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller trilogy did for that (you can even tell Moonwalker inspired her visual album format with Black is King and Lemonade- she even referenced watching his videos to inspire the endeavor). He trailblazed with the goal to appeal to as many people worldwide as possible after Off The Wall was snubbed by the Grammys and radio stations. MJ broke barriers for Black artists to even enjoy large scale commercial success in front of mainstream audiences on non-Black platforms. But yeah, I agree with so much of what you said, but Michael Jackson cannot be lumped with Mariah and Madonna because he had to walk through the fire and deal with the rejection and discrimination that eventually facilitated the success of his pop predecessors, and they'd both be the first to tell you that. The King of Pop is beyond the record sales and chart appearances in his case...it's the industry foundation that Bey, and many others, enjoy as an artistic playground today. He was pretty much blacklisted by critics and award shows after Thriller even though his music remained excellent and continued to sell tens of million ww. Bey is smart to bypass that horrible scrutiny. Hindsight is 20/20.

@@musermusings ‘Break My Soul’ was her first big radio single in years and get first Hot 100 #1 hit since ‘Single Ladies.’ The biggest break in convention with this album had been her lack in visuals strangely - which had been a big component in her artistry up until this point.

if she starts living what she preaches, ill start taking her seriously. as a person and as an artist. for me, calling for "bow down bitches" contradicts every feminist claim. but okay, as a snapshot it's only human. and that's what Beyoncé often lacks for me. her life is so far removed from the normal life of her fans. nevertheless, I wish her that her personal development was will lead her to her true self. for me, as an artist she's already on the right track since lemonade/reformation. (don't know what came first,cause I'm not into that pop/charts stuff) but much of 'lemonade' really catched me

This is cool, but I also feel MJ did this first with songs like they don’t care about us or black & white. In my opinion Chris & Beyonce are the current best at entertainment, but I feel Beyonce is trying really hard to be different, it was more organic with MJ. MJ made songs that many will never try go number 1. What made MJ so special was his catalog never gets old, Beyoncé has not dropped a song that anyone cared about in years. The hype behind her name is how she still charts. Chris who came after her has hade more songs people will remember this decade. But I respect her for doing what she wants.

She hasn’t released a song that anyone cares about? Lemonade was literally the most acclaimed album of 2016. “Break My Soul” is currently sitting atop the Billboard Hot 100. Renaissance is the most acclaimed album, along with Rosalia’s of this year. What are you even talking about?
@evelyntaylor44702 жыл бұрын
Not a fan of Chris brown, (new gen. I don't hear a distinct sound in singing voices) he can dance. He sounds like all the other pop ??? Usher, Trey, Tyrese, Harry, Shawn Mendes, etc.,, I know the pop sound is different, but they some time blend pop/r&b. No real R &B singers since Motown 60s, Luther, R Kelly. A lot of the pop and r & b singers sound alike too much falsetto. I like Bruno Mars and silk Sonic, they are emulating the old r&b

What are u crazy!??? .. first off chris brown music sounds all the same he has no experimental growth in his sound. This is why he's not selling like Bey. This is why she has such longevity and everything he else he mentioned in this video
