The Tiger might seem like a superficially underwheing unit when compared to the Bull, but it's significantly cheaper. Combine that with better mobility and more hit points ald what you have are these durable lumps of pig iron that can act as an frontline that can take a respectable amount of punishment while having enough firepower to deter lighter units that might try to destroy your Banishers and Quakers

thats true! I think I missed just how much cheaper the tiger is in comparison. definitly a much more "swarmy" type of unit

@@BrightWorksTV yeah, the Bull is really powerful as it's clearly defined by "quality over quantity" doctrine where you don't overwhelm the opponent but create a quick-moving strike force that punches through one specific point to wreak havoc in the opponent's base

Would you consider making a similar guide for buildings? I often feel like i never know when its a good idea to build something like an advanced solar or advanced fusion. Similarly i feel pretty clueless on more obscure options like juno, deflectors and the majority of turrets

I could write a treatise on them but I'll try to be brief.. Commandos have a very peculiar use case, which is to say. Forward operating bases. Their stealth jamming field stays on while being transported, so you can transport them and 3 twitchers to an area adjacent to the frontlines and setup a base to start pumping out fiends or other T2 bots. It can really mess with people when suddenly they have multiple frontlines with mine fields suddenly popping up between them. Alternatively your commandos can serve as an armed stealth generator and cloak other combat units from heavy artillery fire. While increasing overall DPS on the enemy frontlines, the ability to repair and reclaim is also useful. Also Decoy Commanders have the same build power as regular commanders which is to say basically better than everything else.

First of all, amazing video! Really appreciate the time and detail you put into these. Only information that I would add is the self destruct for the Juggernaut and it's absolutely insane blast radius with the added benefit that it doesn't even leave behind a wreckage for reclaim/revive.

i know i said this on the armada video, but this just solidifies it for me: i'm surprised by just how similar a lot of the units in zero-k and byar are. it's been, what, fifteen-ish years (?) since these games became separate projects so i'm a bit surprised they haven't drifted further apart in this regard. the biggest mechanical differences i see are in the broader game design approach: how the progression and factory division works, the amount of automation and unit ai, things like that. but when it comes to individual units, there are far more units with a clear common origin that have remained very similar than i expected going into these videos

yeah i imagine the units are sort of designed into their roles and so any change cant be much of a leap else it just becomes its own unit. I feel like we've see than with other games too where units are added or removed because they did or didn't contribute to a certain role well. I think I just appreciate how well this game handles the various scales of Stategic view. you can zoom all the way in to see a detailed model of the unit and instantly understand the geometries that units' attacks are governed by, but you can also zoom all the way out and get a very clear picture of your forces as a whole.

Both of them remain *extremely* close to TA and their fan base may be a bit strongly controlled by very fanatical TA fans that don't want to stray too far from the TA unit distribution.

@@doppelrutsch9540 i'd say ZK departed from TA in some major ways, like the flat tech tree and deemphasising commanders. it's also less afraid to get weird with unit designs than something like bar is

Hey just a bit i don't think got covered, not huge buuut! Not all constructors are the same obviously but their Build Power is different too Buildpower on t1 Bot: 80 - Vehicle:90 - Air: 60 T2 Bot: 180 - Vehicle: 250 - Air: 100 So t2 vehicle Constructors build the fastest. 20 buildpower below a Commander.

Ahh yes that's definitely a good point! Thanks for bringing that up! Not to your benefit because you probably already know but for anyone else who might be reading this the air con is the lowest in build power with the bot being next followed I believe by the hover and finally on top the veh. Hover and veh might be the same but I believe navy is the same as veh as well(not like these much choice of con for navy though) :)

Also of note Hover constructor is between T1 and T2 vehicle but faster than both and also faster than naval which is only slightly higher in BP. Hover constructor is basically boss for vehicles or boats. =3

Shuriken, wasp, t1 and heavy transport have the reverse triangle map icon!!!! That mean they can land on water!!!! I just get it now while i watch your guide xD this is a huge hidden feature

18:45: "Mammoth tank in the field!" "Armor superiority" "Apocalypse moving" "Face your mortality" As a dude raised on Command & Conquer these impressive walkers were immediately familiar to me after the GDI Mammoth and Soviet Apocalypse. The naming is probably a wink for those OGs too.

38:20 Decoy commander is a really good unit, build 4-5 units of these to help reclaim on area you want or even inside the base to help build things (300 build power, tell if its low build power)... Pair it with commando in transport and its just gold

Holy cow you're so much louder in this video than you were in the previous thesaurus. Hopefully you don't end up thinking that destroyer=battleship when it comes to labeling like you did armada but that is a minor gripe.

yeah still tweaking to get sound just right but i think its better to be loud and turned down than quiet and turned up. anyways yeah I struggled to classify the navy units because frankly I rarely ever play cortex navy

IIRC the big robot (Juggernaut equivalent) from TA Core Contingency was called the "Krogoth" - not Karganath... but it's been a while.

Im imagining a strat of sneaking passed an enemy's front with Spectres, then either sneakily trying to reclaim an enemy's AFUS, or EMPing their antinukes then nuking lol

hahaha Try it out!! I've seen some AWESOME emp + nuke plays before and pulling it off feels like you've ascended to galaxy brain XD (pro tip: dont forget about the EMP missle launcher for armada, that thing can usually reach mid-map anti-nukes pretty easily :P)
